    My Flexbar recovery log

I'm not really convinced that my BH is the biggest problem, but since this is something I can do with my game without hurting my elbow further, I figured I'd try it out.

A few things... Well, I went to the Tournament... First match no problem... Won easily Second match was 4 hours later... Not so good, but memorable... Halfway throught first set my arm lit up... Lost the first set 7-5 Second set, could barely lift my arm...Was reduced to blocking...

    running miles

I actually do think about my breathing. I mix up my runs with intervals kind-of. 4-5 miles mixed with 3-4 50 yard "sprints" per mile. Maybe not real sprint, but a big increase in pace. I tend to load up for these. 10 seconds or so before, I'll increase my breathing and and maintain a...

    My Flexbar recovery log

Well, sort of discouraged. Played this weekend. Borrowed a racket. Yonex, RDS 03 w/a 4 1/2 grip, Multifilament at 56. Supposedly a very arm friendly racket. I liked the racket. Felt more pop on my serves and shots. Had plenty of control. However, my arm pain is back in full...

    My Flexbar recovery log

Right now I've got poly in the mains and big banger in the crosses. Strung at 60. Going to get a synth gut @ 58. Will I notice a big difference in the way they play. I hit with a lot of topspin, especially with my fh. I also saw the comment on the grip size right now it's 41/4. With an...

    My Flexbar recovery log

Just a short update. Almost 2 weeks now. I still haven't picked up a racket. I'm doing the exercises regularly. There is almost no pain at all during the exercise, and the pain on the elbow has reduced significantly. A week ago, I could easily put my fingers on the sore spot by massaging...

I suspect that because the negative pressure is more consistently applied as you unwind the bar, it offers a better result. Maybe it's marginal, I don't know. I'm giving it a try to find out. Here are the exercises I'm did prior to the flex bar http://www.hughston.com/hha/a.seven.htm...

Yea, I'm definitely going to go for a different string. Recommendations would be welcome. I know gut would be ideal, but I suspect I would have to get a second job because I'd rip it up quickly. I'm sure my technique could use some work also. I'm going to address that before I start...

    My Flexbar recovery log

Primarily right on the elbow. However there is pain on the top of forearm and when it was at it's worst, all the way to the hand. No Prince 03 Tour, 1/4 grip Hybrid luxilon and poly @ 60 I suspect my 1hBh because that's where I feel the pain on the court, but I have also...

    My Flexbar recovery log

I have a nasty case of TE. It gradually came on in the last half year, and I have mostly ignored it until about 3.5 weeks ago. I did get a cortisone shot in it about 6 weeks ago, but it only gave marginal relief. I played a tournament and a few matches after the shot, and the pain came back...

    Cortisone Flare

Good points, I'm sure I'll have to take all of these things into consideration for a long term solution. The idea of changing my game is scary in an old dog, new tricks way.. Well, I'm playing #1 doubles on a combo team, and we've been working as a team for a long time. I'm really looking...

    Cortisone Flare

Well, I'm guessing too much tennis caused it ;) But I have a tournament this weekend to get through, so I opted for the short term relief to get by. After the tournament, I'm going to lay off tennis, and focus on some strengthening exercises for a while. And when I start back, make sure...

    Cortisone Flare

Got a Cortisone shot in elbow yesterday. 3 hours later, I could barely life my forearm. The shot seemed to multiply the pain by a factor of 10. Apparently, this is "cortisone flare". After icing and taking NSAIDs, the pain is about 80% gone. Also, the shot seemed to help my Tennis...

    Ladder

I absolutely love the ladder we have here....It's so much more interesting and challenging that the leagues. As an added incentive, the pro at our shop will put a tournament on where the top 16 will play. To me, this is ultimate way to have local competition in tennis. No ratings, no...

BBC - Nadal to confirm if he will play Wimbledon tomorrow lunchtime

I've had this, if it's what Rafa has, I don't think he'll play, or he shouldn't. The pain is very acute and you simply can't ignore it. I wasn't able to play or run from late October to January because of it. I had a cortisone injection and took prescription NSAID's(Arthrotec). I'm back to...

how fast can you run 1 mile?

I don't know, my 5k is usually between 23-24 minutes. I figure if I blew it out wide open for a mile, I could get low 6's. My first mile of the 5k is usually way faster than my last.
