How can Gosen Micro and Prince Syngut DF be Classified as Multi

When I played more regularly from the 1980's through 2008, I usually played with 15 ga and 16 ga Prince synthetic gut and Top Spin. I used this string because it was affordable and I didn't want the string to break too frequently. Having recently gotten back into playing, someone was surprised...

How can Gosen Micro and Prince Syngut DF be Classified as Multi

I misquoted from the back of the reel. What I meant to quote was "Super Strength Nylon Monofilament." The "monofilament" is what has me puzzled. But you seem to have explained it: "monofilament" is a single "core" "with one or more wraps around it."

How can Gosen Micro and Prince Syngut DF be Classified as Multi

I know this is an old post, but regarding forum posts, we should not be ageist. Long live the dead. I am sitting next to a reel of 16ga. Gosen OG Sheep Micro and contemplating using it in a hybrid set up with 17 ga. Volkl Cyclone. The back of the reel states "super strength nylon filament," yet...

How To Pressurize / Revive Old Tennis Balls...

I have now built two of these tubes. However, they are not air tight and lose pressure over a number of hours. I used two-part epoxy to glue all the fittings. I don't think the epoxy is a good choice for air-tight fittings. I also used hot glue to seal the valve, top and bottom, which also...

Reality of Tension Loss on 17 ga. Volkl Cyclone Co-poly Due to Non-Use

This seems like what I'm looking for. Thanks. Poly is new to me, and my 50-year-old arm doesn't seem to mind 17 ga. Cyclone.

    Unique Pressureless balls

It is now 2018, and I can confidently say that at least for ball machine use, if I had to choose between Penn balls and Gamma balls, I'd choose Gamma.

Is there something unique about tennis players?

Is there something unique about tennis players? By "tennis players," I do not mean only professional players but people who see and feel playing tennis as part of their identity. I grew up playing baseball and American football in organized leagues and schools and tennis as something on the...

Reality of Tension Loss on 17 ga. Volkl Cyclone Co-poly Due to Non-Use

Will going to a hybrid 17ga. Cyclone/16g. (or 17ga.) Gosen synthetic gut be a better solution if I plan on trying to extend the playing life of strings as long as possible? I ask because I have reels of both.

Reality of Tension Loss on 17 ga. Volkl Cyclone Co-poly Due to Non-Use

I played tennis somewhat regularly from 1980 to 2008. During this time, I always played with multifilament string and synthetic gut and never thought twice about letting a racket sit for months while I favored playing with a different racket. I would play with a racket until the strings broke...

Ball machine - Go high end? Or are the features not worth it?

People need to stop claiming that the Spinfire is the only machine with internal oscillation. Several of the Siboasi machines have internal oscillation. I currently have the S4015 that has internal oscillation; rugged wheels to roll over curbs, bricks, and rocky terrain; compact size for...

Ball machine - Go high end? Or are the features not worth it?

My main mistake in practicing the drop shot and, most likely employing it in match play, is initiating it from the baseline and not from a position closer to the net.

Ball machine - Go high end? Or are the features not worth it?

I don't have a great drop shot, and I think it is one of the best weapons to wear down recreational players. I want to make this a reliable shot for me. Too often I hit the net, more so than popping it up center court. Hitting off a ball machine is like meditation with a bit of cardio and sweat.

Ball machine - Go high end? Or are the features not worth it?

Off the ball machine today, I hit 320 drop shots, one after another. No hitting partner would have put up with that.

Ball machine - Go high end? Or are the features not worth it?

The 30-Amp lithium-ion battery for my s4015 requires 10 to 11 hours to fully charge. I ordered the machine with two external batteries (no internal battery), as I didn't want to be tied to having to leave the entire machine connected to a charging source, just the battery. One fully charged...

    Pressureless tennis balls

I hit with the Penns and Gammas today back to back. While I seem to like the throw and bounce of the Penns just a smidgen better than the Gammas, the Gammas definitely feel more like a pressurized ball than the Penns do. The Penns noticeably felt harder off the racket. Conclusion: the all-yellow...

    Siboasi 4015 Tennis Ball Machine

I think the Wx series is a good choice. I like the programability of the 4015, but I don't use it much. Just make sure whatever Wx machine you get has all the same internals as the 4015, just minus the programability. The wheels and the motors on the 4015 seem very good.

    Siboasi 4015 Tennis Ball Machine

I have an external battery, which for me was a good decision. Without the internal battery, the 4015 weighs 26kg. First thing I did when I received the 4015 was to put it on the scale. Reasonable maximum number of balls in the hopper is around 166.

Compatibility of ball machines with regular balls

I thought my seven-year old would like hitting with the ball machine, 50% of the reason I bought it (okay, maybe 25% of the reason). He prefers hitting directly with me and having me feed him balls out of a basket.

Portable Tennis Net that Approximates Regulation Height at Center

Does anyone know of a good portable tennis net that is easy to set up and that approximates regulation height at the center? Pressureless tennis balls

I had a three hour machine session with the Gammas today (to date, they've been hit for about six to eight hours). It still may be all in my head. On touch, look, and feel out of the bag, the Gammas seem so promising, but actually hitting with them they seem deader than the Penns, even though...
