    NikeCourt Zoom Hypersmash

Love the nod to an iconic BB shoe. Not loving the lack of toe drag durability...and potentially the return of the mold issue that plagued the Vapor 6 in this OG Flywire upper...although as @raven5288 mentions above, it looks like fake Flywire (and not the original TPU package the promoted the...

    The Nike Vapor Tribute Thread

I would give design credit to two unsung designers. • Thomas Bell who really drove the upper design and the Dynamic Fit concept while in the Nike Innovation Kitchen. Thomas is currently at On and reunited with Roger. • Michael Hui who did the tooling (midsole and outsole). I have to admit I...

    The Nike Vapor Tribute Thread

Thanks @gino for the walk down memory lane and taking the time to compile all this info! 3 little stories on the Vapor that I will add from my time working on some of the models. 1) Roger never wore the Vapor III because he slipped and tweaked his ankle a bit when weartesting the shoe. As a...

Coached one match which she lost. Fired. Then she shut down for the season. Epic one hit wonder.

Have any of you stocked up on shoes and had them go bad in storage?

Still have 10+ pairs of Nike Courtballistec 2.3 and 3.3 that are new and have a few pairs that are in sporadic use. No issues, but echoing the above comments, 1) glue would typically be the first material to fail. 2) next issue with older stock shoes would typically be failure of the synthetic...

Which tennis player/s would you most want to have dinner with? Not romantically but conversation wise

For thoughtful conversation beyond just tennis, James Blake. Mischa Zverev, Caroline Wozniacki, Andrea Petkovic. I've had the opportunity to speak to these athletes and they are genuine, intelligent, and brave enough to speak their own point of view and not default to a public image.

    Djokovic - Montblanc

Taking the $. I'm surprised that Montblanc doesn't see a conflict, as Djokovic just signed with Hublot watches and Montblanc has been ramping up their watch game.

Do you miss any shoes from the past?

Nike Air Court Motion International - most stable shoe (in my memory). Full length Zoom Air was an amazing ride, but the outsole wore out like butter! Barricade 2015 Boost - The Boost in the heel entirely elevated this model. Without it, it's a great stable shoe - fit my foot like a glove...

Why would anybody buy USED socks?

"One man's trash is another man's treasure". I would say I have primarily bought used apparel and footwear for the past 5 years. The thinking is around 1) sustainability (reduce/reuse/recycle) plus 2) if I can get something I want in good condition and discounted, then I can make a smaller...

    Adidas Ubersonic 4 Thread

CUSHIONING : U4 cushioning is definitely softer than U2. Probably can be attributed to Lighstrike, but I think it's primarily due to the sockliner... upgraded with an Ortholite-type insert. So underfoot feels more plush - can't quantify if I feel slower/faster. BOOTIE FIT : Feels like the same...

Why were Sampras' Nike clothes sooooo ugly????

Another side story is that Nike ended up naming a building after Sampras, which angered Agassi, who felt he did more to represent the brand - hence his departure for the Adidas desert for a few years until he made his way back to the Swoosh post retirement.

    Delpo’s Air Max Cage

It's probably been mentioned before, but the most pairs that the average player has to lug is around 5-6 pairs. There are a few key distributions of gear that the major brands hold during the year. Australian Open - First big distribution to hand out new season's footwear and apparel to get...

    Delpo’s Air Max Cage

At the time, the players are all asked to wear new models at the Australian Open - the first main distribution of new product of the year. (That's why the players are typically wearing last year's outfits and shoes for Hopman/Sydney/lead up events to the Oz Open). If you're a lesser tier...

Giving lessons and hogging the court

Especially with tennis being rated "more safe" in these Covid times, the local public courts are more packed than ever with those that aren't as familiar with tennis court use and etiquette (use for ~1 hour/1 set if people are waiting is the normal rule in Oregon). It's maddening when rules...

Are you have happy switching to a crossover/SUV/PickUp over a sedan/sports car?

At the end of the day, it's different strokes for different folks. SUV's serve a purpose depending on your needs. One thing I would say though, is that those who buy SUV (and often the accompanying AWD/4WD) for better performance in rain and snow - shouldn't overlook the impact of winter...

http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/the-nadal-courtballistec-era-was-epic-pics-welcome.669131/post-14309608 It took Nadal a few month to transition into the Courtballistec 1.3 and Nike colored up a BC2 in the same color way as the Australian Open CB1.3, which Nadal played in.

Tennis Racket Technology Is Way More Elaborate Than You Think

Thanks for the link! There are a couple of levers to pull with materials and mold, and most manufacturers tend to concentrate on the materials side of the equation. Perhaps that's due to rule restrictions, but golf equipment seems to play with both sides a bit more.
