Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Tourna Premium Poly 17 Thanks TW for including me in this playtest, as I love testing strings! **Special thanks to haq777 for providing a nice review template :) Color Received: White Tension(s) used for playtest: 51lb Mains/ 48lb Cross Regular string set up...

    Tier 1 Black Knight

If you have big strokes, you will find Tour Bite has quite a bit of Pop compared to other similarly stiff co-polys. If you don't very hard, you won't find the pop. IMHO Tour Bite is Solinco's most powerful poly (on fast swings). When I became a Solinco dealer, I strung up each poly, same gauge...

    Benefits of the Lendl Pattern?

Reviving this old thread, as I was trying to remember how to string the Lendl Pattern with Flying Clamps. Thanks Irvin for making those videos. Speaking to the benefits of this method, you basically get the performance (spin/control) of poly, with the comfort of the outer strings. I prefer full...

    Common pre-poly string setups?

I didn't start playing until the early 90's but I strung hundreds of racquets between 95-2004. The most popular string was Prince Synthetic Gut with Duraflex or competing companies' copy of that string, I would dare say that made up 60% of what I strung. I worked at a country club and honestly...

    Common pre-poly string setups?

Loved the Gamma Extreme Spin! I also used the Hammerlast 19 when I was sponsored by Wilson, but it didn't have as good of feel in my opinion. I used the prepackaged hybrids, so IDK if it was the Aramid mains or the synthetic crosses that made the difference in feel. The Gamma lasted my a little...

Why do some people prefer to play with mid sized racquets?

Well, I don't personally own a Pure Drive currently. But I have hit with it many many many times since they came out with various strings and tensions. Love it on flat serves (althought have to aim for bigger targets) and Forehands....not quick enough for me at the net or the backhand. The last...

Why do some people prefer to play with mid sized racquets?

As others' have mentioned, most mid sized frames have thin beams, less air resistance and most have a pretty HL balance. Simply put, they cut through the air faster, they allow me to get over the ball easier on my One Hander and my serves. Due to the smaller sweetspot, it's actually easier to...

    Favorite stings in 93" 18x20 12+oz?

I've got Head Sonic Pro 17 at 42lb in my Prestige Classic Mid, and it's pretty dope: soft, good pocketing, little bit of power, getting great spin with it. I played well with Tourna Silver 7 Tour at 44lb, but it was a little too firm. Regular old Lynx 17 was also nice, but I get more spin from...

    Pro's Pro Strings!?

Yeah I never tried Concept. I will add that Blackout, prestretched, felt great until it broke around 5 hours for me. I love Pro's Pro Strings! I should have mentioned that! I think they are a great value, and most have much better feel than say Gamm Poly Z or the Gosen Cheap Poly. I liked almost...

    Pro's Pro Strings!?

NoNameZ, The Plus Power is pretty similar to Signum Plasma after it breaks in, maybe ~30min, then it only plays like it for about 2 hours, then tension falls off a cliff. The original Signum held it's tension better (not amazing) but I was ready to cut it (SPPP) out after about 6 hours if I...

    Hybro Spin by Topspin

It actually looks like it's 7-sided with a round string. Went through multiple reels of the original Cyber Flash, personally, when I first started using poly strings. They make very good strings, maybe not amazing, but very good, especially when you consider their low cost for reels.

    Pro's Pro Strings!?

Yup, that's Pro's Pro. Most of the Poly I've tried goes dead within 2-4 hours, but the reels are super cheap. I personally don't think any of their polyesters have amazing feel (or sound at impact), but I can get some really good results for a couple hours out of a few of them, namely Blackout...

    Gamma Moto

Not really much different. The Black plays slightly more muted and a little more control/less power. However, the difference is more minuscule than when comparing other Brands' polyesters, i.e. Cyclone, Black Code, etc. where the black plays far more muted and dead vs the brighter colors. I used...

Tourna strings - are they actually good?

Like others have said, Silver 7 Tour has great tension stability, great control and spin, although it plays a little firm compared to their other offerings. It's not uncomfortable by any means, but it doesn't have much "give" or pocketing to it. Tension lasts longer than Cyclone for me. Cyclone...

Quick question: what tension to string Silver 7 Tour at

I like Silver 7 Tour 17g in my Head Pro Tour 2.0 @ 44lb and still have plenty of control with a more forgiving feel than when I tried it at 50lb. I normally play 125 Cyclone or Black Code Fire 125 around 48-51lb, and would say it feels pretty similar although feels firmer than those 2.

Jim courier blue 85 Wilson stars stripes

It was essentially the same as the 6.0, but more flexible. It may have either been lighter or more HL, as it swings easier through the air. It was very similar to the red Jack Kramer Pro Staff Graphite 85, maybe a little stiffer than the JK

Wilson Pro Staffs 5.7 and 4.7Eb 100 Stretch

I have a 5.7 100 +1.00, strung up with Natural Gut to mitigate the "ping". I recently sold the 5.7 OS +.50. They have a great feel. Can hit big kick serves with ease. Great racquet to pick up from the Bay at a great low price. I normally play with players frames, but I keep the 5.7 MP in my bag...

    Podcast idea

I like to occasionally warmup and practice with my wood racquet collection. What about a podcast regarding the benefits of practicing, warming up, and playing with a wood racquet? Whenever I feel like I'm doing too much with my swing or missing the sweet spot, a session with a woodie helps me...

What happened to my buttery Kirschbaum synthetic gut?

Pro Supex Synthetic Gut Titan ;-) Not sure where to purchase these days though. It's a little more muted than the Kirschbaum, but has that nice pocketing, works great a slippery cross string in a hybrid setup, and it's cheap! I 2nd that Forten Sweet is close to the Kirschbaum, but it's more...

    Diadem Elevate Tour

It (Elevate Tour FS) is much more muted than the original elevate tour, feels like a different racquet, honestly in terms of the sensation at contact. Other than that it's pretty similar, maybe a little more power. Not sure on the swingweight, but both version were too whippy for me stock, so I...

    Wilson NXT DUO 2 ?

A little late with the reply, but I did take notes when I tested this hybrid. Thanks HONGO29 for "liking" this old post, it popped it back up in my alerts! Overall, this setup was not bad. With Adrenaline Mains, felt quite firm, great control, not much spin/bite on the ball. Not much pocketing...

ALU Rough vs Tier One Strike Force RIP

Compared to ALU Rough, the Strike Force is softer, more muted, similar spin production, not quite as controlled, but still very good control. Strike Force turns into a trampoline after 2-3 tough sets of singles for me or about 2 or 3 easy/fun doubles matches. Unfortunately, I find the Strike...

Anyone used the Pure Aero Plus?

Pure Aero + improved on everything I felt was missing from the 27in Pure Aero: Stability, more comfortable, little more muted, more power and spin. It is the most maneuverable plus length racquet I've ever used, and I've tested a ton of them. Even with improved comfort and less brassy feel over...

Head Pro Tour 2.0 String Set Up

I actually liked the string that came in it, is that Lynx, right? I hit a pretty heavy ball with long strokes and a big serve game. I am definitely looking for more bite on the ball, and a little more pop. I will probably try Diadem XT 1.20 next time around (one of my favorite polyester...

2019 Pure Aero Plus (PA+) Users thread

Realize I'm Resurrecting an old thread, but Figured they're no need starting a new one with some PA+ users already chatting here. First off, this Racquet is addictive! The easy depth and spin is crazy. My main racquets of late are the Yonex Vcore tour 89 with with in the handle (12.6 strung) and...
