Got my racket strung at a new place. What are these and do they have an effect on how the racket feels?

in this age of veganism, one can not assume leather power pads are acceptable without asking first. i use pads which i cut from a thick vegan (leather style) belt and i believe they actually work better and last longer.

When do you know it's time for an Angell?

Well, I was hitting with someone after, hit with my Pro staff k six one 90, then I hit with the new Blade 98 v7 16x19 and my opponent said the balls were coming through much heavier with the Blade. Someone else said they were coming through heavy with a Mantis 310 Pro that I also have. My...

When do you know it's time for an Angell?

I would have to disagree with you here. I've been playing Pro staffs all my life. Had 5 years away from the game and recently hit with the number1 15 yo in the country. He was hitting heavy balls left and right, I could not swing the heavy Pro staff rf97a in time at all. Plus, my ps was not...

    Edberg racquet and setup

The earlier bumperless St Vincent and Chicago frames feel very different to the bumpered versions. I'd assume that they had to adjust the specs of the raw frame to incorporate the addition of the bumper while keeping the overall mass and balance similar. Hence, it would be likely that the...

    What produces a "heavy ball"

If you have a racquet with a low swingweight, any ball might feel heavy. If your racquet has a high swingweight and twistweight, any shot will have less destructive impact on your return. If you contact well, any heavy shot will feel normal on your return. From my experience, a heavy shot is...

What's so special about the St. Vincent Pro Staff?

Completely different racquet. Pro staff has a stiffness of mid 60's. Max 200G was below 50. 200g was too flexy for me, more of an old wood feel. Great for hitting flat shots, but so much more power with the pro staff.

What's so special about the St. Vincent Pro Staff?

The butt code suggests it is, but I would need some pictures of the whole frame, the tension range, along with any chips/marks/dents you have around the frame. If you are able to post those, then one could be more certain.

    wilson k-factor k six one tour 90 or k prostaff 88

The K88 makes you use proper technique all the time. That's why players with classical technique hit better with it. With lighter racquets, one tends to cut corners sometimes, and they're more suited to the modern topspin game. K88 feels almost identical to a leaded up St Vincent PS85 with a...

4.0+ - How long do rackets last you?

I played with a Taiwan PS85, switched to the Pro Staff Tour 90 which felt really similar. Got the 90s in early/mid 2000s and used them all the time for 10 years. Hit with them this year after years away from tennis and they don't feel the same at all. They have a flexy feel now. Also, bought a...

My Angell Experience Thus Far. A TC95 Review

So how did it compare to the rf97a?

What's so special about the St. Vincent Pro Staff?

The St Vincent model is very different to all the others. I own all except Chicago version and Belgium version. I also have the rf85. The St Vincent just feels more solid and buttery with every hit. It's neither too stiff nor too flexible. The materials used from the area just make it unique...

    OHB grip size.

So much argument about use of the thumb. Seems like everyone is right and wrong. It really depends on which type of grip you have, i.e. how you hold the racquet, and which shot you are hitting. Go back to the wooden classical era and most players would have a hammer grip (straight) - so they...

    Wilson RF97A... Something isn't right.

I'm assuming you mean my rf97? Originally it had Prince Synthetic at 55lbs (strung by the seller) and that felt really nice. I restrung it in January with Kirschbaum Gut Feeling 1.30 mains at 26.5kg and Max Power Rough 1.25 crosses at 25kg. Feels very powerful, might have to restring a bit...

    Wilson RF97A... Something isn't right.

I bought my first rf97a in October last year, the tuxedo version (367g with overgrip and dampener). I'm used to playing with PS85s/90s weighted to 370g including overgrip and dampener (not sure about SW), but the rf97 is a completely different balance. I tried a b/h flick volley and ruined my...
