    Softening a racquet

The flex of a racket isn't just from the head, right? I'd imagine a lot of flex is from the throat of the racket, so wouldn't stringing at high tension have minimal effect on the rackets flex at the throat? Is the softening of a racket over time due to the restringing, or continuous use...

Does lowering tension on crosses = more snap back/spin?

so am I understanding this correctly? Increase tension will help increase snap back but the cost of interstring friction Decreasing tension will help decrease interstring friction but at the cost of decreased snap back. The friction and tension are inversely related, therefore, usually a wash...

    Taping off overgrips/replacement grips

I actually hated grip bands until a couple years ago when i realized it was it was a waste taping the grips in terms of effort. I switch grips usually every other session and not having to deal with tape great! Just slide it up, take off old grip, apply new grip, and i'm good to go. I don't...

Need stringing advice for a good 16 yr old male player.

If he is holding his own against an actual D1 player I don't think you really need to get so specific to hybriding his racket. Just put a full bed of tour bite or hyper g 16g and call it a day! Dropping tension on crosses is a personal preference. Don't overcomplicate things for the young one...

Hiring a coach watch you play a match. (Under 4.5, please do not reply)

I can see you are a very strong-minded individual and focus on results which isn't a bad thing. Having a coach watch your play CAN help you, but it depends where you are in your game. Here's just my opinions from a usta verified 4.5 player. Pros: They can see if you have any flaws in your...

Forehand gone terrible after string change

Its easy to blame the racket... You have to honestly look at your game and realize equipment only enhances skill. Focus on keep your head still throughout the stroke. I find most of my shanks happen because of a rushed stroke. Just keep practicing, and don't blame the strings.

    Lobs

I wouldn't say i'm very tall but i'm taller than the average person at 6'0. When I play a match I purposely warm up barefoot and slouch so I look shorter to my opponent. This way when they try and lob, it will inevitably fall short/low so I get an easy push away overhead. Yes i'm joking.

    Gosen Micro vs Super

Your results may differ but normal OG sheep micro should be sufficient it was and is for me. If someone is good enough to tell the difference between OG and super they prob want something better in their racket. They prob want a firm feeling multi vs a cheap synth gut nylon or poly. Oh will...

    Can't Stop Swinging at Volleys

Very good point. The bands are just for use in a controlled environment. High ones will be tough [emoji14] I guess jumping is almost as bad as swinging too. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

    Gosen Micro vs Super

I agree with @CopolyX don't overstock otherwise you'll just have wasted inventory you can't offload. Personally, i'd look at tourna big hitter silver, a decent alternative to big banger alu at 80 dollars a reel. I'd figure out what the main strings were in terms of control poly, soft poly...

    Can't Stop Swinging at Volleys

This is where the band, jump rope, or anything tied around your upper body will help you learn to volley with your elbows tucked in. Do 15 min of volleys this way, take the band off and do another 15 min with it off. Less is always more when it comes to volleys.

    Can't Stop Swinging at Volleys

Try volleying with something tied around your arms at the elbow. You can get one of those warm up bands and just tie a loop and slip it on over your head. I can't find a picture of it online. The band should be between your elbow and your bicep. This will keep your elbows tight into your body...

    one hander using 18x20

I used to use an 18x20 ig prestige mp, and now use 16x19. You can tell a difference in the launch angle and spin, but I don't think the spin generation was material. It wasn't a factor that make me win or lose matches. Tommy Haas uses/used an 18x20 pattern as well. I agree with other that...

    4.5/5.0 vs. ex D1

Both great players! One thing I noticed was Tim's return position after a shot. For a majority of the shots he seemed to return directly to the middle of the court. He'd hit a strong forehand cross court shot and would return to the middle of the court instead of slightly right of middle. His...

Head prestige graphene touch mid String and tension used for test: Full bed of Solinco Hyper G 16L @ 45 , 40, 42. I did not want to change strings from my normal set up. I did adjust tension given the smaller headsize. This way I can hopefully minimize the string variable. Tennis...

    RAQUET WITH LOW TRAJECTORY ANGLE

What strings and gauge is he currently using? You could also try to go to a thicker gauge, this MAY help him get extra control for flat shots. This might close the stringbed some and provide him more control with his flat shots.

Although personally I am not a fan of the cosmetics, I like the upper portion of the hoop. If anyone is familiar with the IG prestiges, there is checkered weaving of graphite (not sure if actually is the material or just cosmetic). With the new Graphene Touches, the same pattern is there but...

Initial thoughts on the Mid hitting against a ball machine, also some rallys with my wife. It feels really nice =P. The control is amazing. I can literally T off and hit a flat line drive the ball from the baseline with more accuracy than i've ever had. Not a high percentage shot but just amazed...

Topic for Discussion: New Headsize measuring metric vs Normal Square Inches

This topic is only for discussion, it may have been talked about before, but honestly I am too lazy to search =p. Bare with with me for just a couple of minutes, it relates to rackets I promise. Switching from RF97A

@razuzin I played with the RF97 for about a year and had golfers elbow flair up. I tried substitutes and went back to my leaded Youtek IG Prestige MP that I had used for 2 years prior. After two months I went back to the RF as the Prestige was just missing that extra juice. I ended up taking...
