    Federer's 2014 Racquet (picture)

    This has a 'heritage' look for a reason as RF is on his way out and it's likely to be the last 90 racquet he'll ever use. It will grow on you. Plus the photo doesn't do it justice. {Disclaimer: I don't work for or play with a Wilson!}

History will remember Fed as the guy who couldn't beat Rafa.

Nadal beat Federer in their first ever meeting on HARD. Nadal was 18 and Federer 23. And this says a lot! Their H2H record on Hard is about equal, on grass Fed has a slight edge (which may change until he retires) and on clay there is no contest. Beyond the numbers, Nadal's dominance over Roger...

Is David Goffin The Next Big Thing?

He's playing almost a full schedule... he's getting tired which is unsurprising. It also means he's not juicing like some.

Is David Goffin The Next Big Thing?

I think I was one of the first to post on Goffin here several years back (you can do a search). He caught my eye at a Futures in Greece 4 years ago ranked 1,200 and been following him ever since. My prediction then was he'd be a top 50 one day. I was wrong. He looks more like a top 20 at worst...

Is Djokovic the Best Returner of Serve Ever?

Djokovic's return of serve is the deepest and most consistent I've ever seen. However, Nadal's serve makes Novak's return look better than what it really is. - Serve hard into the body.. sometimes but not too often he gets out of the way and hits a great inside out unreturnable return. The...

Tennis is one of the cleanest sports in the world, for that we should be proud!

Here we go again... how do you know they haven't been caught? When someone gets caught speeding on the motorway does everyone find out? No. The police know and the driver. Are we all on the same wavelength?!?

Are Federer's Close Losses Show That He Chokes or That he is a Fighter

Federer is great but is no fighter. He chokes on very big points and gives up when things don't go his way. No one is perfect.

    How can Nadal stop Djokovic??

This is what I wrote a day before the final: "I think Rafa has a chance against Novak but he needs to play a very smart and at times ugly game. Serve wise on the deuce court I'm guessing he'll try use his new, heavier racquet to serve hard into the body. Serving harder to the fh or bh side will...

This is why Nadal would lose to Sampras every time

Are you so insensitive in real life too? Yet another classy poster.

How many more times in a row could Nadal lose to Djokovic before he decides to retire

23 is the magic number. He said it at the press conference.

This is why Nadal would lose to Sampras every time

Sampras faced Agassi just once at the French Open and twice at the AO. One of these two losses as you may [not] know had something to do with his coach being diagnosed with cancer during the tournament. Take these 3 losses away and Sampras won every single one of their encounters at GS level...

    Del Potro - One-slam Wonder

If Delpo stays healthy (and with that forehand chances are 50/50) I'll hazard a guess he'll go straight to the top at some point. His game at times can be devastatingly effective.

This is why Nadal would lose to Sampras every time

Yes, but some adapt better than others. Break down Nadal's game as it is now and tell me a) which part of his current game would win him matches 10 years ago and b) if he was coming through 15 years ago what strokes he would have developed differently to enable him to beat guys like Sampras...

This is why Nadal would lose to Sampras every time

100% correct. Especially now they've come up with schizophrenic new surfaces where balls won't bounce above chest height. Sampras with his classic eastern forehand would hit winners from all over the court. Close your eyes and visualize it. Those who have seen Sampras play know exactly what am...

This is why Nadal would lose to Sampras every time

One important variable you have ignored to take into account is that players tend to adapt to surfaces, balls, players around them. In my view, Sampras would have adapted to today's game better than Nadal would have adapted 10-15 years ago. Sampras used to have a two-handed backhand and if he...

This is why Nadal would lose to Sampras every time

Some of these posts are plain ridiculous. Have you guys seen Sampras play? A typical Sampras game goes a bit like this: 0:0 Serve down the T: Ace 15:0 Slow slice serve out wide. Return middle of the court. Boom: winner in the open court (you pick the side)...

PEDs and the future of tennis.

Some have been caught and you already know about them (Rusedski, Korda, Canas). Others have been caught but you'll never find out. It's a lose-lose situation most times. Federations, tournaments, sponsors, clothing brands, etc. They all have a lot to lose.

PEDs and the future of tennis.

I'll leave that up to you to judge. This is an anonymous forum so there's little point in me trying to convince you about something that's not true. I have nothing to gain. I rarely post on here but when I do so I try to share valuable info. I'm not your average TW forum fanboy.

PEDs and the future of tennis.

I'm being vague deliberately :) If I said 'tester x or coach y' told me your next question will be about specific players and tournaments. In all honesty, I wish I didn't know myself. We all love the game and want to believe there's a level playing field. But there's so much money involved.. we...

PEDs and the future of tennis.

The rigorous testing and the big headlines (see Murray story on doping test after the semi) is a smokescreen. Most doping occurs during the training season. Players don't have access to as much information as testers themselves and most tour coaches. Sorry, can't say more.

PEDs and the future of tennis.

I'm not sure I share your excitement but the fact is PEDs are allowed indirectly. Testing is deliberately minimal and even when someone is caught it is rarely made public.

H2H is hardly a GOAT factor but don't use poor logic to debunk it

Rafa and Nole are not even part of the GOAT discussion. As for that one match between Sampras v Fed I have no idea why you you bring that up. It was just one (1) really tight match. By the same token I can talk about Rafter's 3-0 H2H against Roger... but am not going to do that for the reasons I...

H2H is hardly a GOAT factor but don't use poor logic to debunk it

The field happens to be fairly weak. It has been for some time. Rafa says stuff like that all the time. Rafa still says Roger is the best ever and tomorrow the favourite is Nole. It's called being humble (or perceived to be). The fact is on paper Roger should be beating Rafa on Grass and Hard as...
