    Best poly under $10??

Genesis Typhoon definitely meets the OP's criteria.

Guess my elbow will only handle gut

I echo what LarrySummers and flashfire276 said... Try a high-end multi if you don't want to pay $60 per shot. My favorite multi is Babolat Xcel Power - an outstanding string. If you want to stick with gut, you can try some of the lower priced ones - like Tonic or something from Pacific or...

    Anybody Used Genesis poly strings?

Typhoon is an excellent string. In fact, it plays very similarly to my all-time favorite string, Alu Power Rough. And... It is about half the price. I have a set of Twisted Razor in my stringing room but haven't had a chance to play-test it yet. Take care. DH

mains and crosses at different tensions

I don't know the technical answer to your question, as I am most certainly not a racquet engineer. With that said, I rarely have a difference of more than 3 lbs. I've done a few sticks with a difference of 4 lbs. but never more than that. Take care. DH

    Best poly under $10??

    Completely agree. Nicely said. DH

mains and crosses at different tensions

I do this on every single stringjob. My machine has a knot increase button which ups the tension 10%. Does it matter/make a difference? Who knows? Probably not, but since my machine has the button, I use it. :-) The key is consistency... Either always increase tension or never...

Help new stringer get through the hole.

Basketball team disappointed greatly in the tournament this year. On another note, OSU men's volleyball just won National Championship the other day. Pretty cool. Football? I think things are only going to get uglier in Columbus for Tressel and the Boys. We'll see... I use this...

    Stringing DVDs?

Hey Carlos! Thanks for the kind words. I was just checking some of my search results on Google for my stringing DVD course and ran across this post from you. I hope all is well, and I hope you're enjoying stringing your own sticks. Take care Man. DH

    Best string for spin

I know it takes a beating on these boards because of its price and poor tension maintenance, but when it comes to spin production, I've yet to find anything as good as Alu Power Rough. Love it! Take care. DH

    Not receiving free samples

Like always, Jim is correct. I always email my request to the USRSA as soon as I receive my copy of RSi in the mail. To date, I never been declined a string sample that I've requested. Take care. DH

German Hex Strings = one factory

The same thing happens in many industries. It is called "contract manufacturing". I did some consulting work a few years ago for a high-end bicycle company. They were small and thus couldn't afford to have their own company-owned manufacturing facility. So... They used a contract...

Ok to leave the broken string on a racquet?

I have never seen a frame damaged by leaving the broken strings in. Nevertheless, I always cut mine out right away, and as soon as a client gives me a stick with broken strings, I cut 'em out right away - even if I am not going to string it right away. To me, it just seems like a good...

Grand slam stringers: please contact me.

Yes. Kiteboard - You should head over to the GSS Forum for answers to your questions. The activity on their board is not nearly as frequent as it is here, but over there, you have many more tour stringers. On these boards, UK_Skippy and Chrsplchs have tour stringing experience and post...

One Piece - Knot on Transition

I completely agree with Jim. As he often says, if you can learn to tie a good cinched up knot, then there really won't be much (if any) difference between a one-piece job and a two-piece job. In this case with different tensions for mains and crosses, I would just do it two-piece. Take...

    Solinco Tour Bite

Unfortunately, I don't know much about it. I was talking to KT from SOLINCO about a week ago, and he mentioned the new string and asked if I would play-test it for them. I believe it is a twisted poly, and I believe it will be called Barbed (or Barb) Wire. It will likely arrive this coming...

    Solinco Tour Bite

    17. I think I might like the 16 even better. I tend to like a little bit thicker, more solid feeling string. I've been playing with Alu Power Rough almost exclusively for about two years, and it is 16L. Take care. DH

    Solinco Tour Bite

Hey Tennis_Crazed. Thanks for the kinds words. I am not a fan of hybrids. Over the last year, I've tried Alu Power Rough mains and Tecnifibre NRG2 crosses, and I've tried to Babolat VS mains and Alu Power Rough crosses. I didn't care for either setup. I guess, at the end of the day, I...

    Solinco Tour Bite

Will do. As you may have seen in the pic from my blog post, I have a set of Revolution, so I'll give it a try soon. I will be play-testing another new (not released yet) poly from SOLINCO soon, so I'll probably try Revolution after that. Take care. DH

    Solinco Tour Bite

Definitely worth trying. Tour Bite is a great string. Alu is awesome stuff from a playability perspective. Nothing better IMO. But... Alu loses tension/playability rather quickly and is fairly expensive. While I don't know the price of Tour Bite, I am willing to bet it is less than...

    Full Poly Question

Based on your description of your style of play, it doesn't seem like you're a candidate for full poly. Full poly setups really shine for people who love to sit at the back of the court and take big, full swings at the ball - fast racquet head speed with lots of topspin. If your groundies are...
