Overlooked match - Roland Garros 2005 final.

Easily one of the best seasons in the last 20 years when it comes to depth, competition/top 10 (and their forms), surface specialists (extinct species nowadays), plus Fed was playing his best tennis/highest level, IMO, even though his stats were slightly better in 2006. He was in his...

    The Semi-Big 3 of USO--What Order?

Mac's three in a row puts him on top in my book, the ability to defend the title is a different challenge as the player is not flying under the radar anymore (as a defending champion), the pressure is higher and players have a higher motivation to dethrone the champion, so I value it quite high...

Overlooked match - Roland Garros 2005 final.

I think the 2005 (clay) season is overlooked in general and it rarely receives any attention from the tennis community, but it was probably the last season with the multiple elite and in-form clay specialists/experts competing for the biggest titles. Nadal beating them all (Puerta, Coria and...

The Big 3 of Grass--put them in order

I often change my mind about who has the top spot when it comes to achievements or greatness at Wimbledon (sometimes it's Fed, sometimes Pete), but it's always good to see a genuine love for Petros. Sheriff would be proud of you, sir.

Peak Nadal vs peak Borg on clay

Don't think Nadal (or anyone else, for that matter) would be able to wear him down due to Borg's almost superhuman stamina and physical fitness. In order to win, I believe he would need to go for his shots more than ever in his career and try to hit through the court (like he did against Coria...

Is Pete Sampras a top 5 tennis player of all time?

Borg never liked the net-rushers, it would be a tough match-up for him I think.

Is Pete Sampras a top 5 tennis player of all time?

Yeah, I clearly disagree with that. I believe the main reason for their losses is the type of game they play on the surface, rather than the change/evolution of the sport. You had a player like Kevin Anderson who blew the best returner in today's game (or in the last 20 years) off the court...

Is Pete Sampras a top 5 tennis player of all time?

7-0 in finals in a span of 8 years is still impressive, regardless. Both Fed and Djokovic suffered losses (during their primes) in the finals to Nadal or Murray, type of players who don't really take a full advantage of the surface, but rather play their (more or less) customary baseline game...

Unpopular Opinion: Sinner will win less slams than Agassi!

I agree, he's a better ballstriker than Djoko.

Unpopular Opinion: Sinner will win less slams than Agassi!

Agassi's slam titles have a different weight as he won them competing in an era filled with surface specialists/experts and under heterogeneous conditions (far more obstacles), which is IMO far more impressive than Sinner's hypothetical wins.

Will Sinner break Fed’s record for most consecutive wins at HC slams?

Great Bjorn Borg (not Fed) holds that record with 41 consecutive wins (1976-1981) on grass at Wimbledon.

Australian Open 2025 FINAL - Defending Heavyweight AO Champion Jannik Sinner [1] vs Challenger Alexander Zverev [2]

That drive volley at 0-30 tells you all you need to know about Sinner's confidence. The guy has transformed into a champion in the last year and a half, it's impressive.

Australian Open 2025 FINAL - Defending Heavyweight AO Champion Jannik Sinner [1] vs Challenger Alexander Zverev [2]

Good question, probably because he believes the only way for him to dispatch Sinner is to be out-of-his-comfort-zone offensive, which seems to be a wrong approach. That's not his game and he's already missed too much.

Australian Open 2025 FINAL - Defending Heavyweight AO Champion Jannik Sinner [1] vs Challenger Alexander Zverev [2]

It looks like Zverev is trying to win this with a power game, went for too much in rallies and made some unnecessary unforced errors. Sinner seems to be too good to be blown off the court, maybe Zed should try to beat him with the consistency/turn the match into a grind fest. May not be enough...

End of Year Roundup - What is your opinion of Sinner?

Amazing ability to handle the whole doping affair and continue to win regardless. I think he's demonstrated the champions mentality under a very "challenging" circumstances, which is a tougher task IMO from "simply" being a front-runner and having other players chasing you. His qualities as a...

AO '25 is using Alcaraz as the main poster boy for their email promotion

Alcaraz is the most popular (especially since Nadal's de facto retirement) and most perspective young player, had a phenomenal season and it's only natural for the AO organizes to put him on front. It's all about business.
