Could it be the weight added at 12 is causing the additional stress to your arm? It will significantly increase the SW.
I am also dealing with a tennis elbow and played with the frame in a long session against a 4.5, didn't seem to bother the elbow.
thanks! Yes, surprisingly I didn't seem to lose any control going from denser pattern to open. I played a close tough set yesterday and it was much easier to play with the EZ98 demo.
I play with a Percept 97D which I think is softer than the 100. I feel Ezone98 is softer than the 97D and I'm considering switching.
EZ98 as it seems to be making me work less harder than the 97D and is much better on serves probably due to its lower swing weight.
I have to be able to work with my doubles partner on the court.. communication and in game adjustment. If I play with someone who doesn't want to communicate, doesn't poach, or starts fault finding - my game quickly goes down. Some of my recent experiences have reinforced this and I'm going to...
I just strung confidential on the 97D at 48/48lbs, it seems to be comfortable enough and still very accurate. You can probably stay between 48-52lbs for starters.
I used to play with VC95 and now the 97D. Though the denser pattern takes slightly getting used to, it still produces enough spin for my game and the added plough and accuracy is very welcome. I would suggest try all the 97 and 100 variants and decide.
Another convert to 97D here. I moved from VC95 - TF40 - 97D and love this frame. Its the perfect balance of offense and defense for me. I felt the defense was lacking with the VC95 and offense with the TF40.
For strings I would recommend PT Rev or Toroline Enso Pro(pink ones). I tried almost...
It's probably just a matter of adjusting to the weaker serve by your opposing team, once they do it's going to be harder for your team to defend that serve. Also - there aren't as many free points on serve at 3.5 or even 4.0 level as you might perceive.
I think there is a significant difference in both of them tbh. I had tried VCP prior and never gelled with it. It felt too soft and clunky(imo). The 97D feels like a bigger version of VC95 to me instead. Precise, great plough through, a little stiffer frame and whippy enough.
Yes.. I would agree, but I've experimented quite a bit with the weight placements, and no weights.. but keep coming back to this. The plough through I get with this swingweight is fantastic and am pretty used to this weight by now.
I switched over from the TF40 to 97D and feel the racket fits my game perfectly. The yonex provides more pop and put away power for me compared to the TF40 and that was the main reason for the switch. I can generate plenty of top spin as well as flatten out the ball when I need to.
My favorite string so far is the Toroline Enso Pro in Pink with PTR just behind. I've tried the other toroline strings as well as but Enso Pro just seems to mesh really well with this frame. I ordered a mini reel in Matcha Green but I feel the Pink one plays a little more spinnier.
I haven't tried the hybrid but love full bed of PTR on it(usually string it at 52). I would also recommend trying full bed of toroline enso pro at 45lbs if you get a chance.
I've tried various toroline strings combinations recently, and enso pro full bed at 45lbs feels fantastic on the 97D. Superb spin and power and decent feel. Highly recommend folks trying it out.
This isn't an easy problem to solve since the pool of players you have in your area remain the same. Unless those 3.5 guys become 4.0 and start beating those older 4.0 guys consistently, this issue will persist. It's no different from a particular area having stronger players in that same rating...
Sounds like you might need a new calibration rod. My calibration rod is at 295 and once I calibrate it based on the instructions, the measurement comes out exactly at 295. I would start there as anything off there would compound everything else.
I've strung my Toroline at the same tension as well and so far it seems to be ok. I have had tennis elbow in the past so I am sensitive to this stuff as well.
Maybe try 44lbs and give it another go?
I definitely feel some stiffness in the 97D though it's less stiff than the 100's. I am stringing poly's low to compensate. What's the tension you are using?
Use this tool to input what swingweight you want and it will tell you where to add weight. You can play around with the numbers to see how the weight placement affects the swingweight.
