Should INDIAN WELLS become the 5th slam

No. I'm new to tennis though, so i'm geniunely curious as to why you would ask this question about the Indian Wells tournament, but not the other 10 ATP 1,000 pointers?

For me, Fed has surpassed Jordan, Brady and Gretzky

Yes, percentage was the one non-volume stat there. And the picture also had interceptions circled, which is a bad thing. Regardless, it's still apples to oranges. We have no idea what Marino, Rodgers, Brees, or Elway could have done with the best coach of all time, a great defense, the best...

For me, Fed has surpassed Jordan, Brady and Gretzky

Most of those are just volume stats, lead by the guys who played the longest (Brady and Brees). Also, passing stats have been inflated over the years with rule changes. A 90 QB rating and 4,000 yards would get you the MVP in 1980, but it would mean you are a scrub in 2018. Anyway, don't even...

For me, Fed has surpassed Jordan, Brady and Gretzky

To add to the above... Heck, I think even some QB's that got pushed out of the league could have maybe had Brady's success if given the opportunity Brady had. Brady got to play as a game-manager for his first few years, on a great team. He slowly became a high usage QB over time. Many QB's...

Federer currently is the only one to achieve career grand slam, by being able to defend 3 of the 4 different slams at least once...

Was it exactly 3 years in between each one? If not, it's not symmetrical. So, it's not as cool.

For me, Fed has surpassed Jordan, Brady and Gretzky

Yeah, but legacy discussion in football is ridiculous. There's a good chance that Aaron Rodgers/Peyton Manning/Drew Brees, or even Phillip Rivers/Ben Roethlisberger, would have been able to win so many rings in New England. The defense, special teams, offensive line, receivers/tight ends...

    Ranking analysis in Big3 H2H

This shows that Federer was in great form when he played the others...but that doesn't mean he was at his peak. Not defending him, because I am a Novak fan, but that's just what I see.

For me, Fed has surpassed Jordan, Brady and Gretzky

Wilt was perhaps the most athletic 7 foot human ever. Agreed. But height would only help you in certain sports. So it would come down to what sports we are including in our little competition here.

For me, Fed has surpassed Jordan, Brady and Gretzky

If you're talking about being the best in different sports, then NFL cornerbacks are likely at the top. They have the best combination of agility, speed, and strength - as that's how they got the job. Many average and even below average NFL cornerbacks would be better multi-sport athletes...

So what? And Nadal is the only person to win a slam, then lose it, then win it, then lose it, and then win it. As if he was playing hop-scotch. The "Hop-scotch Slam" as i like to call it.

Do you play tennis or are you a non-playing fan?

I don't play tennis, and i've recently gotten into the game. But I can see why tennis would have a low amount of non-playing fans. I think its because the greatness of the sport is in a lot of subtle things that are easier to understand if you've played the game...the angles that some...

    Slam distribution objectively doesn't matter

That would be correct. They are equal. Winning the US Open 4 times, versus winning each slam once (and let's assume these players did exactly the same in the ones that they did not win - like they went to the QF and lost in each of them) There is no reason why one would be better than the other.

Let's rate our favorite tennis players attributes

This was a great thread. I would like to resurrect it for the current players (and current versions). Let's do the current top 7: Current Novak Current Nadal Alex Zverev Juan Del Potro Kevin Anderson Nishikori Current Federer

ATP 250 New York semifinal: Isner vs Opelka

LOL. What's the record? And main tour means a 250 point event or higher?

For me, Fed has surpassed Jordan, Brady and Gretzky

Jordan, Gretzky, Brady, etc are amazing but i can't be so sure that they are the best in their craft. It's a team sport, with too many other variables. This is the reason i am trying to become a tennis fan. I can be sure who the best player was. It's clear as day that Djokovic is the best...

    Montpellier Open 2019

Apologies if there is already a thread for this. https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/current/montpellier/375/draws Who do you think will win this? Any sleepers in this tournament? Or will Lucas Pouille win it again (he won it last year)? Any good prospects to watch?

I'm new to tennis, can you explain this to me?

New Tennis fan here with some questions

I see. Although, I'm not looking to learn how to play. Just how to enjoy the game as a spectator and know what i'm seeing on tv.

New Tennis fan here with some questions

    1. Sometimes it seems like Player 1 will just hit the ball straight to Player 2, with no attempt of getting the ball past him or making him get out of position. What is the purpose of that? 2. Is slowing your serve down on purpose ever a viable option in professional (top 100) tennis? Like to...
