Davis Cup Drama: Bergs knocks Garin to the ground

Bergs was punished: he got a warning, which was a perfectly appropriate punishment for what he had done

Davis Cup Drama: Bergs knocks Garin to the ground

The rule as written in the rulebook is the same, regardless of whether they hit an official or the opposing player. It's ultimately up to the umpire's discretion

Davis Cup Drama: Bergs knocks Garin to the ground

One of the most experienced umpires in tennis disagrees with you. He correctly applied the rules, and it was his judgement that this didn't warrant a DQ The rules never mandated an automatic DQ for this, despite tennis fans and commentators alike believing they do I blame Garin for flopping...

Davis Cup Drama: Bergs knocks Garin to the ground

Are you arguing this was intentional because Bergs definitely saw Garin? How come Garin looked completely oblivious and made no apparent effort to dodge this? They both completely misjudged how close they were to each other

Davis Cup Drama: Bergs knocks Garin to the ground

If it was accidental then I hardly see how it warrants a DQ This was an embarrassing flop from Garin, by the way

If Jannik Sinner and Rafael Nadal were born in the same era, how many Roland Garros titles would Nadal have won?

Zverev committed to the shot way too early. You can see Nadal reading it as soon as he recovers.

If Jannik Sinner and Rafael Nadal were born in the same era, how many Roland Garros titles would Nadal have won?

This point is crazy. Zverev hit probably the worst possible approach shot from that position: a medium pace deep cross-court BH right to Nadal's FH. Anything else (DTL, short angle, drop shot) and he wins this point and the set

So Djokovic's injury was real, question is how severe?

This. Novak wants to keep playing rather than go all in on one last effort to win a Slam

    Slayage from De Minaur

"Slayage"? This was a weak and pathetic retort, just like his on-court performance

Iga's double bounce: I wouldn't have conceded it neither. Would you??

The more skilled the player is, the better their feel for these shots. That's why I find it very hard to believe that someone who is as good as she is couldn't tell. If she were a beginner or intermediate player I could give her the benefit of the doubt and that she truly believed she got it

Iga's double bounce: I wouldn't have conceded it neither. Would you??

This. There is no way she didn't know. You can also tell based on the spin coming off the ball.

Carlos Alcaraz calls out Djokovic [!]

You can, but I don't think it's very helpful

Carlos Alcaraz calls out Djokovic [!]

Alcaraz was clearly bothered by it, he even mimicked a limp after losing the third set (4:25) Djokovic raised his level despite the injury, and that obviously rattled Alcaraz. At the end of the day, you can't think or worry about how hampered your opponent looks; just focus on your own game.

Time for Djokovic to exit gracefully

I wouldn't read too much into this loss, Novak has always hated playing against guys like Opelka who gives him no rhythm

Time for Djokovic to exit gracefully

Nadal's W/L % is artificially inflated. Specially later in his career, he ducked tournaments off of clay where he would've gotten some L's

Kyrgios and Nolefam - Before and after

Nick Kyrgios ‘used to hate and despise’ Rafael Nadal in Federer, Djokovic comparison

It doesn't really change the argument much. In between the Kyrgios win and the time this article came out, neither Nadal nor Federer won anything of note. I simply used Djokovic to illustrate how serious tennis analysts understand Nadal had an obvious clay skew in his resume, and that was and...

Nick Kyrgios ‘used to hate and despise’ Rafael Nadal in Federer, Djokovic comparison

When Kyrgios beat Nadal, Fed was at 17 to Nadal's 14, and Fed had a much more well rounded resume outside of the Slams Serious analysts at the time ranked Nadal below even Djokovic: https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/16371992/tennis-top-20-all

    Against the no-let rule

They are more frequent when the incoming serve is hit at a snail's pace and/or the netcord is not properly tensioned
  29. jm1980

    Against the no-let rule

In practice, way more serves are blunted by the netcord, giving the returner an advantage. Relatively few dribble over the net in pro tennis All things considered, no lets benefit the returner more than the server
