    Replacement for Luxilon Ace?

Nice find! Very keen to hear your thoughts on it. I used to love Ace in my Pro Staff 6.0 85 at 54lbs. Please report back after a play test.

    Replacement for Luxilon Ace?

Does anyone have any contacts at Luxilon? Would be great to hear from them as to why they discontinued it....and give them a push to bring it back! :-)

Former pro Kyrgios set to make a comeback....

Will be interesting to see if he's matured, or whether he still rants at his own box when the pressure is on.

    Replacement for Luxilon Ace?

Sounds like we have similar string history and preference. I also loved Timo 1.10. I used that stuff for years until I found Ace. I use Luxilon ALU 1.15 every month or so, and it's good, but it just doesn't have the same pop that I remember Ace having. What a time to be a tennis player - so...

    Replacement for Luxilon Ace?

I've been reading some posts/reviews on Luxilon Element and there have been some comparisons to Ace which intrigues me, however it is only in 1.25 or 1.30, so I'm not sure how it can really emulate Ace which was much thinner Still, I think I'll get a set just to cover all bases. Any comments...

    Replacement for Luxilon Ace?

G'day topspinners, Back in the day Luxilon Ace was my favourite poly. I just loved the crispness, the bite on the ball and the softness all at the same time. It was unique. I'm still looking for a string that reminds me of Luxilon Ace. The closest I've found is Babolat RPM Blast rough. I...

Snauwaert ATP tour 93 frame .

Here's a link to my racquet. I play with this every other day, and the more I play, the more I love it.....although I am always tempted by a new (or old) Head Prestige release....:-)

Snauwaert ATP tour 93 frame .

I purchased 4 of these a few years ago. New old stock. I finally strung one of them up with some soft poly, and it's become one of my favourite sticks of all time. It has a very thin beam, and this translates into a nice soft and plush feel. It's has a very dense string pattern in the middle...

The very premise of the original question makes me anxious. :-)

Ytex Strings - an objective review

Yep, I love YTEX strings. I've played with ProTour, SquareX, HexagonX and Quadro Twist. SqaureX is my favourite. Soft, powerful and crisp at the same time. They are all very good.

    Oliver Machine

@oldno7, not really - it happens very occasionally, but only when using super-stretch strings (usually not natural gut), and only when stringing at higer tensions (>58? lbs). In this case, a double-pull is required, which sorts it out. I think the geometry of my setup allows me to clamp the...

Gut/Poly hybrid. Cutting out and replacing the poly crosses after some time to restore tension to the gut mains!? Possible?

Thanks for your response - the highlighted parts are the key points for me. The gut in my racquet has definitely lost a bit of tension, despite being in reasonable shape. Nevertheless, I have nothing to lose...so I'll give it a go anyway and see what happens.

Gut/Poly hybrid. Cutting out and replacing the poly crosses after some time to restore tension to the gut mains!? Possible?

I've played a lot with gut/poly hybrid stringing...particularly with Pro Staff's (think Roger), and I'm almost convinced that this is the best string job for a Pro Staff. After some time however, the gut strings eventually start to distort and seem to lose tension which is expected and normal...

Wilson marketing hyperbole and word nonsense for the new Pro Staff v14.

"Make anything possible with the radically re-imagined precision paradigm bending braid-45 carbon-fiber "Agriplast" bio-based material by Arkeman" Gotta laugh at some of the words Wilson are using to sell the latest Pro Staff. Hopefully they haven't messed around too much with the...

Almost anything from YTEX strings. Square X is my favourite.

Official Babolat Strike VS 2022 thread

Anyone have a comparison between the Pure Control 95 GT and the PSVS? I been playing for years with the Pure Control 95 GT, and love it's 18x20, flexy feel and low power. I remember testing the Pure Control model when it first came out (funky red colour), and if I remember correctly it was...

Ah, now I get what you're saying. Yes, you can simply untighten the clamp holding the clamp-puller thing, and take it off the shaft and put it on "backwards" in order to get better clearance - like mine in the photo. I leave mine like you see it for 99.9% of all string jobs. Only when I am...

Great to hear that you picked one of these up! They are great. I use mine all the time and have strung many, many racquets on it. Not sure what your question is about. Does your still have the original square racquet mount system? As you can see in the photo, I've replace the entire top...

That sinking feeling when doing a ATW 1 piece job that you're running out of string....

You know the feeling. Each cross that you pull is getting shorter and shorter. You start noticing it, yet remain cautiously optimistic. You cross again, and it's getting shorter...too short....something is not right. 3/4 of the way, you measure it out and accept the fact you're not going to...

90 sq. in with 16x19 vs 95 sq. in with 18x20

For my tastes, it's hard to beat the plush, solid feeling of a flexible 18x20 "old-school" control oriented racquet. The first time I played with a Prestige had me hooked on this feeling. The longer I play tennis, the more I like the control racquets with this feel. I supply the power - no...

90 sq. in with 16x19 vs 95 sq. in with 18x20

I have always played with both types of racquets, and they're both great in different ways. Everytime I swap between them, I get that "wow, this is awesome" effect. Going to a 90in 16x19 prostaff I really enjoy the easy power, increased spin and bite. When I swap to a Radical / Prestige / Pure...

You know you're having a bad day stringing when.... a client returns from living in the tropical Indonesian jungle and hands you a couple of racquets that have diseased-looking, mouldy, blackened grips that probably contain every sort of biological hazard known and unknown to science. Hand...
