    Race to YE#1 2023 - Djokovic v. Alcaraz

This is wrong, Alcaraz needs at least a final at the WTF if he wants to have any chances of finishing as number 1. Maybe you took into account the fact that alcaraz might play a 250 next week but that is not happening.

If you teleported Rod Laver (1.73m, 68 kilos) to 2022, how would he fare?

Tennis is much more physical nowadays. Even Mcenroe (who is 21 years younger than Laver) said that he never went to the gym. I would say he wouldn't fare too good but i might be wrong.

What is the most shocking big 3 loss each season since they won a slam?

Stan winning against Djokovic was definitely not expected. At that point, Djokovic had a comprehensive lead in their head 2 head and a 4-1 lead in slams against Stan.

Explain to me how the slam race is valid like I'm a child

I agree but they played so many matches at all stages of their careers that it seems silly to say they are different eras. I respect your opinion though.

Will Djokovic will 18 slams or more?

This is the post i quoted and i said who would have thought that djokovic and nadal would reach 20. The mods are truly incredibly smart for deleting it.

Could Kirgyos be the favorite for USO?

I wouldn't really count on it. His wimbledon final run wasn't that impressive. He beat Tsitsipas but Tsitsipas isn't that good on grass and he is a good matchup for Kyrgios. Besides that he got taken to 5 sets by Nakashima and Jubb (he nearly lost to him in the 1st round), and beat Krajinovic...

Is Djokovic on course to become the best grass court player of all time?

He didn't reach the Wimbledon semifinals 11 times in the last 12 years. He reached 3rd round in 2016 and quarterfinals in 2017.

Explain to me how the slam race is valid like I'm a child

Hmm yeah, it's always hard to argue who had harder competition because it is all subjective. For example, i can't see the harder competition Federer had than Nadal. You mentioned slam contenders but there were very few slam contenders for Fed before Nadal arrived. I respect your opinion though.

Explain to me how the slam race is valid like I'm a child

Oh that's an interesting take, why do you think Federer is better than Nadal and Djokovic? And why are Sampras and Borg better than the big 3?

Explain to me how the slam race is valid like I'm a child

Major is another name for slams. But in the end, it is up to you to decide what you value the most. Federer fans will say federer is the goat, nadal fans will say that nadal is the goat, djokovic fans that djokovic is the goat and objective fans will probably follow the numbers.

It was definitely a slam, you can look it up if you don't believe me. However, it was a slam a lot of top players didn't go to.

Explain to me how the slam race is valid like I'm a child

Well it started being a slam around 1924, thats a pretty long time. If they started calling Halle a slam, then Federer would be the GOAT. I hope they do that, it would be funny.

Explain to me how the slam race is valid like I'm a child

Well, we don't make the rules, they call the Australian Open a slam so it's a slam. If you don't count australian opens, then Nadal is the runaway goat which doesn't really help your agenda. Well, i guess federer goes up by one spot.

Explain to me how the slam race is valid like I'm a child

I mean, even if Federer had retired at 31 he would still have met Djokovic around 27 times which would still be one of the most prolific rivalries in tennis. You can compare it to 1 time fed and sampras met but it doesn't really hold water imo. In the end, it doesn't matter really, the big 3 era...

Explain to me how the slam race is valid like I'm a child

People are obsessing over it because it is the best indicator of greatness since they are the most important tournaments in tennis. The fanbase whose player is in the lead will always talk about it more as we've seen with 17>14>12 etc.

The Kyrgios myth is over, no longer the "talent" people thought he was.... his best couldn't even push a 35-year-old baseliner to 5 sets on grass!

Djokovic's serve was pretty shaky in the finals. Kyrgios could have done better on returns imo. Still, it was a good showing.
