Two piece vs one piece stringing

I am not perfect at knotting, and thus I almost always strung my own racquets by using 1 piece method in the past. But I recently switched to string my racquets by using 2 pieces because the manufacturer's instruction shows "two price" stringing. I am playing with TF 40 at this moment.

    Another tie-off location thread

I strung a new TF40. Tie off main @ 9T and cross @ 6H with 2 pieces. The end knots align okay right outside of the grommet holes. Perhaps you need to do the knots more carefully.

Anyone regret telling their hitting partners that you can string a racket?

I don't mind stringing for my best friends. For others, I told them that they are welcome to use my machines during my convenient time. But they have to do it by themselves. So far this works well.

    String flattened by clamps...

Your clamps need to be adjused. Like others have mentioned, they are too tight. I alwasy check the tightness of my clamps whenever I string a new string or the same string with different gauge. It won't take you more than 1 minute.

    Sergetti Stringing - WOW!

Thanks for sharing and hosting this Excel spreedsheet. I just checked the downloaded sheet. In the example worksheet "Tec TFight 320 ATP TP 16M", the cell "J18" has a missing value, which I assume to be 6, the same value as the top cross. Otherwise, the cell value in "J26" will be missing /...

    Would this be an upgrade?

** I used to string with drop weight. But I swicthed to a crank. The crank is much more convenient than the drop weight. ** I calibrate my crank machine for maintaining tension accuracy regularly (e.g., after stringing about 50 racquets). It can be easily done with a luggage scale. The...

    Role of an awl

Lubricate the awl before inserting it into the grommet , and do this carefully and gently. It should be fine. See this example by drakulie. He deminstrated how to do it right.

    Role of an awl

The stringer pulled the tie-off string manually and then jammed the tie-off string with the anchor string by inserting the awl into the hole. It will lock the tie-off string in the tight place before he ties the knot. I think it is similar to use a cam action piler to tighten the tie-off...

One piece or two piece methods

I experimented both on my own racquets and honestly I can't tell any big differences before I restring the racquet. But I end up almost string one-piece unless I have to do hybrid for friends' racquets. It is kind of personal preferences in my opinion.

Will there be any problem or issue if the main is tied off at a wrong grommet?

A friend asked me to restring his Volkl C 10. As I also have this racquet, I immediately noticed that someone strung by using one-piece pattern on that racquet and tied the main on the 6th grommet. For my own C10, I always tie the main at the 7th grommet . I will use the 6th main only for...

    Richard Parnell Strikes Again!

Thanks for the comments and answers. That is right. With 18 mains, it's still feasible even if the tie-off at the 7th main. So this is not applicable to my favorite racquet which has 16 mains and ties off at the 7th.

    Moving the tie-off on a one-piece pattern

I strung this racquet several times by using one-piece pattern with the cross strung from top to bottom. After the 8th long-side main, I started the cross from the top all the way down until I finished all the crosses. After the 20th cross, I hard-weave the 9th (outside) main back to the top...

Should I avoid one-piece pattern when the racquet skips only one hole at the main?

Should I avoid one-piece pattern when the racquet skips only one hole at the main?

As said in the title, "should I avoid one-piece pattern when the racquet skips only one hole at the main?" I am not a pro-shop stringer. I only string for my own racquets and occasionally do it for friends. I almost always string one-piece because of habit (and partially because I am okay...
