    Ezone 98 v8 String Setups

I heard that Rev is a muted string. Is it not as muted as Hyper G? I might have to try the Mint Rev.

    Ezone 98 v8 String Setups

I play with Hyper G 16L in the 25 EZ98. It’s heaven for the first 4 hours then I lose ball feel as the edges wear off. Also tried Hyper G 16L - Hyper G 17 Round hybrid but I didn’t feel much of a difference. I’m curious if TB would work better for longer but a little hesitant to try it out as...

Has anyone tried Restring Zero in the ‘25 EZ98? I’m thinking it would look good, but wondering if it would feel too muted.

Wanting something with the same feel as Prostaff 97 V13

@Luc Besson I've played with both the BP 22 and PS97 v13 for an extended period. I understand the "head-heavy" comment of the BP22 and I think it is valid. The BP22 has weight concentrated in the hoop although it isn't tip-heavy, and the weight is pretty evenly distributed in the hoop. PS97 v13...

Racquet journey and next match racquet

Fair point, and sure I can follow up after a month of playing or so. I can usually tell after a few matches the pros and cons of a racquet and whether it will work for me for the longer run. I don’t have the unstrung specs as I ordered them without matching service and had them strung before...

Racquet journey and next match racquet

Ezone 98 2025 is officially my new match racquet. - Almost no adjustment needed from the Boom Pro - Overall power level is similar (Boom Pro has more mass-based power, Ezone's power comes from the thicker frame and tech), but the stringbed is more consistent and controlled than the Boom...

    8th Gen Yonex Ezone

v8 Ezone98 has been an easy transition for me from the 2022 Boom Pro. Head shape isn’t too far off, power level is similar, and the balance is quite similar. I essentially don’t feel a need to make any adjustments. The sweetspot feels bigger vertically (from 12 to 6) and the better control...

    8th Gen Yonex Ezone

My 2025 Ezone 98s strung (Hyper G 16L) specs with plastic wrap on: - Raq1: 324g / SW 320 - Raq2: 324g / SW 323 Used a Briffidi to measure the SW. I don’t think I’ll need any customization. Just slap on an overgrip and play!

Head Boom Pro 2024 Vs Head Boom Pro 2022

That’s interesting. The BP does have a very light throat and some good hoop weight, so the lead in the throat might help with stability. I’ll try that out.

Head Boom Pro 2024 Vs Head Boom Pro 2022

I have had the exact same experience on my forehand vs. OHBH. Volleys are superb. Serves are ok but not precise enough to hit the spots that I usually hit. I’m actually going in the opposite direction of yours - trying out the new Ezone 98.

Racquet journey and next match racquet

I've pulled the trigger on the new Ezone 98s to experiment. Very intrigued by the spec (320 average SW, 63 RA, denser pattern in the middle) and I love blue, more so than the navy mix of the past.

Racquet journey and next match racquet

It sounds like you may want to try a 16x20 pattern. One racquet that comes to mind is the Pure Strike 100 16x20.

Racquet journey and next match racquet

After hitting every day for the past couple of days, I’ve decided to revert back to my trusty PS97 v13’s for the upcoming USTA season. I’ve had a lot of fun pounding the ball with the Boom Pro since the summer of ‘23, but I have noticed that I hit the ball long on flatter shots way more often...

Moving on from Yonex EZONE DR 98 - any recommendations?

Trip needs to start a review site or Youtube channel. I’ll subscribe for sure. I thought of the Prince ATS Tour 98 as well when I initially read the op. Need caution to get one on spec though as mentioned above. Mine was way over-spec but it had some similar qualities to a DR98 in its feel (I...

Racquet journey and next match racquet

I like the PS97 better in forehands, backhands, and serves, while BP is better for me in volleys and return of serve due to its forgiveness and extra pop. I’ve been recently playing with PS97 for singles and the BP for doubles because of this reason. After seeing your reply @Trip and putting...

Racquet journey and next match racquet

While hitting today and switching between the BP22 and PS97, I noticed that I have significantly less control on flatter shots with the BP22. I don’t just hit flat but I need it for fast doubles play. The string tension & gauge on both are about the same. Now, I don’t want to increase the gauge...

    HEAD Extreme Pro 2024

Yes. I don’t think it needs more tip weight but that’s a personal preference. I usually prefer SW in the 319-323 range and the Extreme Pro demo racquet that I tried from TW had a SW of 326. Plenty stable yet not as maneuverable as the Extreme Tours.

Racquet journey and next match racquet

Very good points and I'm almost convinced to get one (360+ Rad MP) lol. I do think that the 8 mains in the throat area (Rad MP, Ezone98) or just a general dense pattern in the middle (RF01, Percept 100D) without being an 18x20 is something that I want for my next racquet. Still need a...

Racquet journey and next match racquet

I had used the Prince ATS Tour 98, the older version Tour 100 310, and the Beast 98 O3. They all offered great comfort & feel, and helped me recover from injuries caused by playing with the older stiffer Babalots, so I always appreciate those racquets. I really hoped to gell with the Tour 98 but...

Racquet journey and next match racquet

Correct answer: Everything. :( Jokes aside, I’d say my weakest aspect is my forehand being a bit inconsistent. However, from my experience, a lightweight racquet (300-305g) with a denser string pattern seems to always help on my forehand. I can’t explain exactly why that is, but my choices...

Racquet journey and next match racquet

Excellent suggestion. The 360+ Radical MP is my favorite Radical. Best feel out of the bunch. I have a couple of friends who use it and every time I borrow it to hit a few balls, it felt so good. Better control than my Boom Pro and I think that lower launch angle somehow works to my advantage...

Racquet journey and next match racquet

More demo racquets since last time: (I've transitioned entirely to the Boom Pro 2022 with Restring Zero 1.23 in the mains, Black Zone 1.20 in the crosses. No longer using Pro Staffs in matches.) - VCore 98 Tour: Hits a heavy and spinny ball, but not the easiest to maneuver. I wish they had...

What was its standout feature? Do you think it would provide a crisper feel on a muted racquet?

    RF 01 series

Ok, after going through a honeymoon period, I started to struggle a bit with RF01’s small sweetspot. In a way, it felt smaller than that of a Pro Staff 97 (315g). I say “in a way” since the sweetspot doesn’t feel smaller when you are hitting flat while it feels small you hit more low-to-high. It...

Head Boom Pro vs Head Extreme Pro 2024

Power level felt similar to me, maybe slightly higher on the BP since the sweetspot is higher up than in the EP. (more leverage) Feel was quite similar with the auxetic tech muting the feel. I'd say the EP has a more precise and controlled feel than BP. They are both more solid and stable in...
