Upgrade from Youtek Prestige MP? Anything with same plush feel?

As a longtime Prestige user (both mid and MP), I'm really enjoying the new PT2.0 - I switched to that from the IG MP, and it's a much more solid feeling frame, firm without being harsh. My IG MP were set up with leather and lead at 358g, and the PT2.0 comes in at ~ 355g with leather and OG...

Head Pro Tour 2.0 - Ask Us All Your Questions! (podcast now here!)

I don't have a ton of time with the PT2.0 yet, but I'd certainly agree with this sentiment - the PT seems to have quite a bit more pop. I previously used the IG, and while it's a really nice feeling frame, there were times I wished that it had a bit more finishing power, and my impression on the...

Head Pro Tour 2.0 - Ask Us All Your Questions! (podcast now here!)

I received my 3 PT2.0 last Friday, unboxed them with a huge level of excitement. They really are beautiful sticks. Dry swinging at home feels really good - the weight and balance as it stands is very much normal for me. Tennis in PDX has largely been shelved due to COVID, but I thought I might...

Head Pro Tour 2.0 - Ask Us All Your Questions! (podcast now here!)

After a week of waiting, it looks like my frames should be here tomorrow, just in time for a pleasant warm weekend in the PNW. I paid for the MRT matching, so I'll have 3 with the following specs: 12.07 oz, 5 HL, 333 SW Planning to add leather, which should get them right into the 360g range...

Head Pro Tour 2.0 - Ask Us All Your Questions! (podcast now here!)

Very excited to give these a shot. I've been playing the IG Prestige MP since they came out, and from all accounts, the PT 2.0 might be a bit of an upgrade from that.

Just picked up an IG Prestige MP

The IG MP is a fantastic frame - I've got 3 that I bought when they were first released, and I'm still using them (coming back to tennis after a 6 year layoff). As mentioned above, they need extra weight to really sing. Mine are set up with a leather grip & overgrip and lead at 12 and in the...

    The gut/poly thread

On my Prestige MP (slightly more flexible frame, but otherwise likely pretty similar), I'm running Lux gut/4G at 55/51 with pretty positive results. If anything, think I could drop tension a touch - certainly don't feel that it needs to be any firmer, especially with how firm Lux gut plays.

Arm friendly string set up for Head Youtek IG Prestige MP?

Totally agree - my IG MP are set up with Luxilon gut in the mains and poly in the cross (currently trying Luxilon 4G) at 56M/51X and they're very arm friendly. I've got quite a bit of racquet speed, so you may want to look into going a bit lower if you want a bit of extra power from it.

    The gut/poly thread

Had a second frame strung with Lux Gut/4G (the regular, not soft) at 56/51, and so far after a couple of outings, I think I love it. Ample power, but the 4G really seems to knock the power level down just right, and there's plenty of spin to be found. I think that this might be my new setup...

    The gut/poly thread

Just getting back to tennis after a 6 year layoff (started playing again in February of this year, working my way back from a shoulder impingement), and had the first night of gut/poly last night. Previously, I'd been playing with HyperG 1.20 in a full bed at 52 in my Prestige MP. I really...

    Week 4 of Nationals - 40+ 4.5+ and 55+ 7.0

You're right, I totally missed the mark on that. I was thinking of IF, who it looks like you had playing 2 singles rather than 1 singles. Given his record, I'd fully expect him to wind up at 5.0 soon as well. Thanks J, it's been a long road. I'm nowhere near full speed yet, but I think I've...

    Week 4 of Nationals - 40+ 4.5+ and 55+ 7.0

Well that makes me feel a little bit better about getting shellacked by him in 8.0 mixed in my first USTA match in 6 years a few weeks ago. :D

    Cleanest-Hitting Rackets You've Ever Used??

Inclined to agree with this. The one frame that falls in that category that I just couldn't quite vibe with was the C10 - monster serving stick, plenty of power off of the ground, but I just found that every once in a while, there would be a total WTF moment where a ball would fly. Contrast...

    4.0 Northern Sectionals Playoff

Congrats on making it! Northern 4.0 was my primary flight prior to an injury and a move cross-country, but it looks like a lot of the guys I played with are still competitive there. Have fun!

3.5 friend went 16-2 this season. Rating went from 3.32 to 3.39

Out of curiosity, I went back to my player record when I was working as hard as I could to get bumped to 4.0. In 2008, I played both 3.5 and 4.0. Went 7-7 at 3.5, and 2-9 at 4.0. Unsurprisingly, finished the year 3.5 2009, switched to playing 4.0 full-time, and went 12-6 at 4.0, with quite a...

Review of HEAD IG Prestige Mid and IG Prestige MP

I know that this is a bit of a necro-thread, but wanted to piggyback on this. I'm just coming back to playing after a 6 year, shoulder-related layoff, and have 3 IG MP currently in the rotation. 2 of them are in very good condition, 1 has what appears to be a pretty big gash on the head...

Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

Popped my first 2014 Hopslam today. Just as good as previous years - solid drink for sure.

Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

I had a bottle of the Accumulation a while back - I agree about it. It was a nice lighter hoppy beer. Not one I'd seek out regularly, but it was quite good for what it was.

Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

Of their regularly available brews, I think Ranger and 1554 are tops. I really liked 2 Degrees Below when that was their winter seasonal, and apparently they brought that back this year as well, but only in their sampler packs.

Just opened my first one of this year - seriously a great seasonal! Really impressed with it this year.

Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

Went to a local store's "rare beer sale" tonight and picked up a couple of goodies - another bottle of 2013 Abyss, a bottle of Deschutes XXV porter, and a Goose Island Bourbon County barleywine. Was hoping to score a bottle of KBS and Bourbon County stout, but sadly they ran out by the time my...

    Diary of a Racketaholic

I can certainly dig that. One of the first days that I had my IG Prestige MP, I had a lesson with a former DI player (who is a Babolat devotee). He looks at me, looks at my racquet and says "using the old arm killer, eh?" At the end of the lesson, he said "you're not allowed to use...

    Diary of a Racketaholic

I can totally dig the input - it's always good for multiple opinions. Are the Tecs really that stressful on the arm? It looks like both the 16 and 18 main are relatively low RA frames, and with a lower SW, I can't help but think that they'd be relatively comfy frames. I know that when I would...

    Diary of a Racketaholic

Hellllllloooo fellow RHolics! It's been a while. In the past year, I've played tennis precisely twice, and have hit no more than 3 or 4 serves total. My rotator cuff finally said enough, and I'm right now trying to rehab without surgery - the prognosis is pretty good (80-90% of cases like...

Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

^ Yeah, I have sampled most of them. I really like Creme Brulee, but only a few ounces of it - I don't know that I could finish a bomber of it solo. Their stuff is getting really hard to find in MN - I used to be able to find it about anywhere, but I wonder if they've pulled back due to a...

Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

It's been a while since I've been on TW due to a lack of tennis playing! Being that it's been so cold here in MN, I've been staying warm with the usual big boy stouts. I did manage to snag a bottle of Deschutes Abyss here last week, but I'm going to have to keep myself from drinking it until...

Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

The one that Doug and I are referencing is amazing. I've had some that were less impressive, but I also have found that barleywine is such a broad definition and everyone has their own interpretation of it. This one has almost zero resemblance to SN Bigfoot, which is another personal favorite...

Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

Seems like it's been a while since I've popped in here. Done plenty of beer sampling in that time.... I agree about Sucks - I picked up a 6 pack in early March, and it didn't last long. Good stuff... Currently I'm on a bourbon barrel beer kick - Central Waters did a series of bourbon barrel...

Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

Managed to snag a couple of sixers of Bell's Hopslam yesterday. Not completely sold on the 2013 version - the 2012 was awesome, but this one seemed like it was a little less...awesome? I'll have to sample a few more in order to be able to make a true judgement. :D Not sure if Bell's is...

    Diary of a Racketaholic

It's been a while fellow RH folks, but today I actually have a reason to post here. Managed to score a pair of very decent iPrestige Mids locally from a guy I played on a tennis team with for a very nice price. Looking forward to hitting with them again - I had a pair of mids a few years back...
