No more Pro Supex Big Ace? What now?

Hello all! About 7-8 years ago, I went on a big string search and came across Pro Supex Big Ace. It was my favorite string by far. It seemed to have the best combo of control/spin/power/comfort that I could find (I know a lot of this is subjective). I bought a couple reels of the string and have...

Do you sacrifice returns in doubles to keep the net man honest?

If the like to poach, lobbying is another great strategy. Just make sure it's high and deep enough or your partner's toast. Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk

Do you sacrifice returns in doubles to keep the net man honest?

If the servers partner is poaching alot, then yes. Keep them honest by hitting to the line even if they are still there. If they don't poach often but have strong volleys, the obvious choice is to hit crosscourt. If they have weak volleys you might just want to hit down the line regardless of...

Headphones with built in mp3 player?

If you are tech savvy, you could create one out of an arduino mini with a micro SD card for storage. This would be the lightest and cheapest option. However it may be quite challenging to create if you don't have experience. As for pre-built products, many companies have lightweight clip-on mp3...

Which Strings do you guys think should be a must for a Pro Shop ?

Definitely Solinco. Hyper G and Tour bite are probably the most popular polys I see besides the Luxilon strings. Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk

How do you junkball a 5.0 basher?

Don't let him get in a rhythm. Do a little bit of everything. Interchange topspin and slice, hit drop shots, hit moonballs, serve and volley, chip and charge, hit angles. Likely he will have a weakness and you can find a pattern to exploit it.

    Mini grass court in backyard

Ryegrass is one of the most popular grasses where I live. I think I use that for the rest of my lawn too. It seems to grow well. I would have no problem levelling and mowing it. However, the temperature might be an issue. June-September is usually 80-90 degrees. Hopefully I could still make it...

    Mini grass court in backyard

This video (along with others) has got me thinking about making a mini grass tennis court in my backyard. I was wondering if anyone here has done this and could share tips on creating and maintaining the grass court.

Doubles both players at net positioning

Let's say the server comes in after the serve and hits the transition volley back to the returner. How should the server position himself in relation to the partner? I was taught that the person cross court from the ball (in this case, the server) should not close in as far in case the pair...

Cover the middle/give up the alley in dubs

Yes, if the ball is in the middle (ex: T serve) you should not cover the alley because it is extremely difficult for the opponent to hit past you. I usually tell new doubles players to mirror the returner's position. Wide serve, you'd mirror the returner into the alley. T serve, you'd mirror...

Saving deep lobs: I reach the ball, then?

On really deep lobs the only thing you can hit are tweeners or this shot If I can reach it before it drops below my waist, I usually just lob it back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How do you hit this angle on your serve?

That is my favourite serve to hit on the ad side. I usually hit a kick serve / topspin serve to make the ball dive down after crossing the net. That allows me to create more of an angle. A flat serve could generate this angle, but it is quite difficult.

College Doubles, do they follow standard advice?

Maybe he wasn't that good at the net, which was why he didn't serve and volley. I find it very difficult to play with a partner who can't hold their own at the net. I don't see why they didn't keep him as just a singles player if he was so good.

    Old strings and over hitting!

With time, a lot of strings will loosen and feel a lot more springy. The ball will be harder to control due to the loss in tension.

Question for string breakers (poly and syngut)

Unless you hit with extreme power and spin, the poly strings should die well before they break. Poly will usually take me 20-30 hours to break but the poly will die after 10-15 hours. I find syngut stays about the same until it breaks but it will break in 5-10 hours of play.

Improving groundstrokes and return of serve

I am a 4.5 player looking to keep improving to the 5.0 level and possibly higher. My volleys and serves are already similar to 5.0 players in my area. My groundstrokes and return of serve, however, are weaker than many of the other 4.5's in the area. I struggle with timing, depth control and...
