Tennis Nerd is here! What are the pros REALLY using?! And will a Pro Stock racquet make you a better player?

Glad to hear Troy still remember trying out the Lauren Davis H22 I won at the BNP Paribas Open auction years ago.

Rank big 3 by grand slam surfaces

Federer and Djokovic aren't bad clay court players. They just aren't on the same level as Nadal. Were it not for Nadal, Federer and Djoker would have 5 FOs each, maybe more since some of the losses to Nadal were in the semis.

Which Federer win elated you most

Me too. I hated Roger when he was beating up on Roddick.

Nadal 21 GS wins of 63 GS played.Djokovic 20 GS wins of 66 GS played.

What does the math look like if you subtract all of the FO slams for Nadal?

Will Kenin ever win another slam

I'm not sure Kenin will win another WTA event. I'd say Danielle Collins has a better chance to win a slam than Kenin at this point.

What would be the perfect slam race finale?

Perfect would be Federer winning RG and Wimbledon, Djoker maybe UO. Then it would be 22-21-21, Fed with a double slam and unquestioned GOAT.

Is there anyone thinking Nadal isn't the greatest claycourter ever ?

not surprising given your profile pic. Probably very temporary GOAT.

People used to call Nadal one dimensional - remember?

I still call him one dimensional

Problem with crowds in era of big 3.

This is known etiquette for even USTA rec league tennis. Somehow in professional tennis, everything goes out the window when you're cheering for one player.

Barty vs Osaka - who is greater as of now?

Has Barty ever beaten GOAT SW at a slam...twice?
  11. J

It was never a real surprise. Nadal should have broken slam record long ago. it never should have even been a 3 man race

It's a valid argument to suggest how one dimensional a player is. What percentage of tennis is played on clay courts? 20? 10?

Was this the greatest Australian Open of all-time?

Is it really a surprise that an Australian watching the AO had high tv ratings in Australia? Or were they mostly watching for the K/K doubles finals? ;)

It was never a real surprise. Nadal should have broken slam record long ago. it never should have even been a 3 man race

If there was no French Open, he would barely have half the slams of even Sampras. He's king of clay and that's it.

Medvedev says "nationality plays a key role"

Is this what happens when you're a "b*^s%t" Russian(to borrow a term from Tsitsipas)?

Barty vs Osaka - who is greater as of now?

I'd much rather watch Osaka play

How can an almost 40 year old be physicaly better than a 25 year old?

I wonder how Rafa would do physically if he didn't take so much time in between points to pick his underwear, grab his shirt, wipe the sweat off his entire body.

Why was Danielle treated better than Daniil?

I felt that crowd was pretty bad during the Barty-Collins match as well. Cheering double faults, missed first serves, cheering before the point is over. It definitely was like a Davis Cup match.

As a health worker I have a wish for you all...!

At my hospital, they're attempting to get approval to analyze case records to see if sicker patients tended to not already be on ARBs. Adding ARBs to many patients. Do you see many COVID-19 patients develop hypertension?

As a health worker I have a wish for you all...!

I hope they are considering use of angiotensin receptor blockers(ARBs) which may theoretically help prevent the pulmonary edema and cardiovascular issues from COVID-19. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ddr.21656

As a health worker I have a wish for you all...!

Masks could help but are generally unnecessary unless you're in prolonged close proximity to someone actively shedding viral particles in the air. More important is washing your hands because the particles will more likely be on surfaces than remain airborne continuously.

As a health worker I have a wish for you all...!

There's no treatment necessary for most positive patients with mild symptoms. Just stay home and self-quarantine. There's only supportive care for now. 20% of infected patients may require hospitalization and a fraction of that need ICU level care. Treatment options are being investigated.

ATP Tour approves six week suspension

I'm not ignorant, you %&^% idiot. I'm a ^%^$ doctor. Mortality rate=deaths/cases diagnosed. IF YOU'RE NOT TESTING ENOUGH MINIMALLY SYMPTOMATIC PEOPLE, YOU'RE MISSING A LARGE PORTION OF THE DENOMINATOR. THE REAL FATALITY RATE WILL ALWAYS BE LOWER THAN WHAT'S CALCULATED DUE TO INADEQUATE...
  23. J

ATP Tour approves six week suspension

    That's a complete utter lie.
  24. J

ATP Tour approves six week suspension

That's only because it's missing all the minimally symptomatic, untested patients. The true mortality rate is much less than what's reported.

What the etiquette after the match in your area now (COVID-19 handshakes)

The droplets are all over the ball now. What's the difference shaking hands vs passing the balls back and forth constantly?

    Indian Wells Canceled

Don't be so sure. It may have started in China but it will also be the first place to recover from it.
  27. J

What the etiquette after the match in your area now (COVID-19 handshakes)

Here's another thing to think about. What about all the sweat and stuff that gets on the balls and you're exchanging them back and forth for a few hours? Imagine playing against a Nadal type the touches their face, butt, drips sweat all over the place.
