    PAC-12 OJAI tennis championships--Stanford #1 seed

You're forgetting UCLA beat TCU. That is what has kept them afloat in the rankings along with wins over Cal, Stanford, Tulsa, Texas Tech.

    The Pacific 10 Alliance!

The conference tournament will be huge in determining NCAA seedings. If UCLA beats USC, they can potentially leapfrog Virginia and become 2 or 3. Assuming USC stays 1, if UCLA grabs a 2 or 3 seed and Virginia remains 4, they'll avoid UVA as they'll be on the opposite side of the draw. USC...

    UCLA Bruins at USC Trojans

Its tough to see the ball in that...even if its in, its just part of college tennis unfortunately. Guys will almost always make the call if they have the overrules to spare. Thompson isn't the ucla captain by the way. Co-captains are Giron and Puget I believe. Will be interesting to see...

    2013-14 Season - Division 1

I have heard that as well, however he is playing again and has been hitting for a few weeks now apparently. He was hitting before the USC match and looked to be fine with movement (wasn't sprinting exactly), but looks like his recovery is going well. Wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him...

    2013-14 Season - Division 1

Their doubles will improve with the return of probably their best doubles player Adrien Puget to the lineup. Puget/Sell played very well last year together down the stretch and at NCAAs, and bumping Thompson/Diguilio down to 3 will make their doubles much better. Still not fantastic, but...

    2013 NCAA Men's Division 1

they only have a shot if ucla can't find the scholarship $. ucla and uva would have the same problem not having enough scholarship money to give to him (probably even more so for uva), but it is certain that he prefers UCLA over any other school in the mix. If UCLA can figure things out...

UCLA will return everyone plus bogaerts. thats gonna be a scary team.

    2013 Bracketology

the day off after quarterfinals will help a ton for the winner of the USC/Ohio St match that'll be a really physical battle and help offset any fatigue. I don't see it being that big an issue unless weather balloons into the mid 80s or 90s. back when the tournament used to only have a day off...

if counting mixed dubs, current ucla head coach billy martin too.

Pac-12 might as well be the Pac-2 when it comes to men's tennis.

Without the extra match at Ojai, UCLA was still ranked #1....and they lost the meeting at indoors. even without the pac12 tournament "extra matches" ucla still is ranked 1.

Pac-12 might as well be the Pac-2 when it comes to men's tennis.

Virginia is the odds on favorite to win NCAAs, I don't think you'll find much argument from many people on that.

Pac-12 might as well be the Pac-2 when it comes to men's tennis.

Certainly at this juncture a team tournament in the PAC-12 is pretty stupid considering UCLA and USC are the only teams that can win it and it forces them to play possibly 5 times a year (way too many). Libbey is not set up well for dual matches, handmade scoreboards are used, and having only 7...

Pac-12 might as well be the Pac-2 when it comes to men's tennis.

All coaches would protest that lineup change and USC would lose the protest. Gomez is ranked 4, Hanfmann 65. Gomez is something like 12-0 at #1, only losses at 2 are to Giron, meanwhile Hanfmann has lost at 3 and struggled with far lesser opponents at times this season. Your "what if" isn't even...

Pac-12 might as well be the Pac-2 when it comes to men's tennis.

its all match ups. all the speculation about how ucla would do without thompson and giron is useless to discuss. i was at the match tonight and bottom line is USC brought in two players who were both ranked top 100 at 5 and 6, and obviously it wasn't anyone close to gomez caliber, but it showed...

Pac-12 might as well be the Pac-2 when it comes to men's tennis.

Was hoping to see more out of cal. Win doubles and USC doesn't play Gomez or de vroome and cal still doesn't register a point in singles. A poor performance from cal in my opinion. Here we go again with UCLA USC. It's the 4th meeting already this season. Can't see USC beating UCLA without...

    Cal Bears

I'll be a monkeys uncle at a final four run from cal. Absolutely no chance even if they "believe". Making the final site is going to be tough enough.

Pac-12 might as well be the Pac-2 when it comes to men's tennis.

With USC in Cal's way, only way is if Gomez from USC is still hurt from last weekend retiring down 0-6, 0-2 to ucla. If gomez can't go and de vroome is still on the shelf with his wrist, it could get interesting if cal can win the doubles point but any other scenario and its hard to see cal...

poor wording in my first post, together we have come to the correct conclusion and thats all that matters.

Pac-12 might as well be the Pac-2 when it comes to men's tennis.

The regular season champion in the Pac-12 is always guaranteed an at large spot in the tournament because of ranking, though they don't get the auto bid you are correct on that, however the "Pac-12 champion" this season is still UCLA regardless.

Pac-12 might as well be the Pac-2 when it comes to men's tennis.

Uh, no, UCLA is the 2013 Pac-12 champion regardless. Look at the 2012 Pac-12 championship trophy and the pac-12 website. UCLA's name is on it even though they lost to USC in the Ojai final. The Ojai is the postseason tournament that determines automatic bid, thats all.

Pac-12 might as well be the Pac-2 when it comes to men's tennis.

UCLA is already the pac-12 champion by virtue of beating USC last weekend. Ojai is the pac-12 tournament which only determines the conferences automatic bid to ncaa's. it gives other teams who didn't win the conference title another chance at qualifying for ncaa's essentially.

    2013 NCAA Men's Division 1

stanford probably a close #2. all their losses this year have been unlucky i'd say cant remember a year this strange. 40 or 50 net cords in each match here or there and stanford could be #1 in the nation ;)

    Cal Bears

Because the best california players want to go somewhere they can win a championship. That usually being either USC or UCLA or Stanford. Not to mention Cal's facilities and stadium are absolutely abysmal and Peter Wright isn't exactly the most lively of recruiters. Cal should be much more...

2013 ITA National Indoors Tournament - Seattle, WA (Feb 15-18)

Agreed. Duke is the scariest team outside of the "big 4" this year and stands the best shot at a semifinal birth at ncaas. when new rankings come out, we'll likely see 1 uva 2 usc 3 ucla 4 osu again and i don't think that will change the rest of the season. uva will have battles with duke but...

2013 ITA National Indoors Tournament - Seattle, WA (Feb 15-18)

what a match from usc and ucla. crazy to think that these two teams will play each other at least 3 more times this season guaranteed (home, away, pac12 tourney), maybe 4 if they meet again in ncaas. 5 times in one year would be bonkers considering how close these teams play each other.

steve was still tops outside of klahn and thacher for the most part, and nguyen was also a top 20 recruit according to tennisrecruiting. top 5 blue chip and a top 20 5star = talent. any team would recruit either of those guys. upside on them has proven to be astronomical. so yes, they had more...

2013 ITA National Indoors Tournament - Seattle, WA (Feb 15-18)

usc clearly doesn't have the same talent they had the last four years, but they are by no means going to have a "letdown" even if they beat ucla or vice versa. after this many years of winning they know how to bring it when they need to. as for ucla, too much talent on that team to not be...
