Play 20 hours a year, what string/tension should I get?

Not a string breaker so won't go Kevlar.

Play 20 hours a year, what string/tension should I get?

By stored properly you mean out of temp variations and moisture? That's possible. I've never used Kevlar due to reports of stiffness. I don't really need the string to remain 100% consistent throughout a few years because it's just for casual play, but I don't want to be surprised with a...

Play 20 hours a year, what string/tension should I get?

Hey all. I live away from home (international) and go back once a year. This year I want to take a leave a racquet there so I can play casually with friends and wife when I'm home. Probably play 15–20 hours over a three week period. What string/tension should I use to have a playable racquet...

Looking for old Max 200G, some **** sales are $100+ some $25. What gives?

Hey thanks for all you replies. Given the warping issue I'll probably stay away unless i happen to stumble across one at a garage sale or something. I'll stick with my current Bio Max 200Gs. Cheers!

Looking for old Max 200G, some **** sales are $100+ some $25. What gives?

howdy! I've been playing the Biomax 200G for a while now and love the racquet. It's piqued my interest to find an older model and have a hit for fun (and see what the older generation had to deal with ;). Searching online (c-list/ebizzle etc) gives me a whole range of prices, why is this...

Kyrie Irving basketball shoe, looks good for tennis?

Thanks mate. Good info. I'll either keep an eye out for a sale/cheap Vapor 9.5 in a half-decent colourway, or bite the bullet for an NIKEiD Vapor 9. Thanks again.

Kyrie Irving basketball shoe, looks good for tennis?

Hey Gino. Thanks for the info. NIKEiD allows for selection of XDR outsole which I assume is the same rubber as used in Courtballistecs. Do you know if this is true. On the NIKiD page it specifies XDR as rubber for outdoor basketball, which I take to mean concrete/asphalt.

Kyrie Irving basketball shoe, looks good for tennis?

Hey Lukhas. I've read a bunch of the tennis vs basketball shoe posts, but most of them cite weight, durability, and height of the shoe as the main negatives (and price to some degree). This pair of basketball shoes seems to tick the box on all three, hence the question in this forum. I was...

Kyrie Irving basketball shoe, looks good for tennis?

Calling all tennis shoe aficionados. Given the general fugliness of current tennis shoes, I'm looking at customising the new Kyrie Irving basketball shoe for tennis with NIKEiD. It looks to be a pretty good tennis shoe equivalent, especially since you can customise it with an XDR outsole. It...

    How to Avoid Starting Slow

I consistently lose the first 3 or 4 games, often leading to a first set loss, only to come back and win the next two. For me it's slow warm up period; I feel more relaxed and looser after about 8 games. To counter, I try to arrive early and hit on the ball machine for 30 minutes if I can...

    Volkl Polys

I've played Cyclone for almost a year straight. Love that string. I find it easy to control the ball — perhaps just from playing with the same string for so long. I've recently found a pack of Wilson Gut and am playing with a hybrid for fun. The soft feel is great. Because of this (and TT...

How accurate is racquettune? Do I need new strings / multifilament / less rackets?

As an app designer (and tennis player) I think the app experience can be improved significantly in many areas, particularly inputting information. As a tennis player I think it works pretty well. String tension is relative. I changed stringers a year ago and requesting the same tension I...

If you don't know if a shot is in or out do you always give point to opponent?

It's in unless I see it out pretty clearly. I like to give the benefit of the doubt on shots which my opponent took a chance and went for it.

Two overgrips. How to keep beveled edge?

@LeeD: Roger that. Understood. @The_Racketeer: I'm trying 1x OG but not wrapping it as tight to see what that's like for the moment. Also, I really like the Supagrap. So much so that a while back I purchased several 30x rolls of Yonex Supagrap for a decent discount so I have ~150 OGs to go...

1 pack of gut = 2 sets of mains?

Great! My racquets are all the same (x3). I completely forgot about oversized racquets and that string manufacturers would need to cater to those also. heh. Awesome. Thanks for your quick replies.

1 pack of gut = 2 sets of mains?

Hey all. I searched for on the forums but couldn't find the answer to this question: I've found a set of Wilson Gut 16 in my drawer for a couple years back. I'm interested in trying a gut/poly hybrid, and my questions is: Could I squeeze two gut main string jobs out of one pack if I let the...

Two overgrips. How to keep beveled edge?

The second coat of spray is meant to harden to make "sharper" corners? Interesting technique. Given a lot of thought to it thanks to everyone's responses. I've kept one racquet with the setup I made, and the second I've now gone back to a single OG wrapped a little looser than I usually do it...

Two overgrips. How to keep beveled edge?

Thanks for a really informative post! I'll look into that tape for sure when I get some time. (I also thought about balsa but imagined it'd be a little thick). Indeed :)

    Biomimetic Max 200G

I use three of them :) This was the first racquet where I narrowed things down on specs alone, knowing my customisation trials and follies in the past. Bought a couple from a TT forumer, loved them (stock), later bought a third for customisation. I was also afraid they'd go out of stock...

Two overgrips. How to keep beveled edge?

Yeah, I thought I might be reaching for the best of both worlds. I may try putting the original leather grip back on vs the wilson synthetic I have on there at the moment. Reduce cushioning a bit but maybe a good balance. UPDATE Remove the Wilson Hybrid grip and two over grips. Replaced with...

Two overgrips. How to keep beveled edge?

Hey everyone. Looking for a way to keep or enhance the bevels on my racquet while using two overgrips. Currently I apply the bottom one to the bare handle carefully so it has no gap or overlap, essentially thickening my grips slightly and adding a little cushioning. The second goes over the...

Post Picture Of Your Tennis Bag(s)...

I generally like my things mostly black with minimal branding design elements. So I roll with this Wilson bag (bought from a TT forum-er :) Pretty simple: - Two side compartments fits racquets (3x mine, 1x wife's) - One side pocket holds smalls: keys, phone etc - One main compartment to...

    Buying equipment in bulk?

I bought a couple of the Yonex SuperGrap 30 packs, and 6 Wilson Pro Hybrid replacement grips from the bay. I also got a 'reel' of 1/2 inch lead tape for experimenting. I buy in bulk simply for convenience, not for cost.

    Anyone hybrid multi with syngut?

I've used a few multi/syn gut setups, currently X-One Bipahse 17 mains w Gosen Sheep Micro 17 crosses. I've noticed and opponents have commented on a good increase in spin, mainly evident in serves and when I try for short cross court angles. The main difference in feel for me is I think I can...

Tried RIP control 17… rocket launcher extreme!

Yes I agree; from all accounts it's a low powered string in general. But when strung at low tensions, and compared to my regular strings at their regular tensions, it's obviously much more powerful. The title of my post was based on my one (surprising) experience, and I've now figured out it's...

Tried RIP control 17… rocket launcher extreme!

Yes, probably true. I'm not using it as a definitive measurement tool, except for in the 'test' I did. The feel (or launch) of the strings was the catalyst for this post, and I use feel, experimentation, and experience to guide me to select a string setup that feels comfortable and suits me. I...
