    Mayami strings

Yes, they have refunded the money and so I appreciate that. It must have been someone in the warehouse in New Jersey putting the wrong item into the package.

Getting repeatedly accused of hitting a mishit on my slice overheads...

What the heck is a slice overhead? I thought that an overhead is just an overhead, a la Sampras.

    Learning to live without Roger

I don't know how I can live without him .... But tennis will certainly not be the same.

TRS: 2021 Cincinnati Masters 1000-general discussion

I'm glad that I decided not to go this year. None of the big three are there, so why bother?? I was really hoping the see Fed there before he retires. Edit: actually it would have been worth seeing Murray and Nishikori. Those guys are cool. Especially to see Murray play in those goofy...

Is it time to introduce larger tennis balls?

Check out the 1969 U.S. Open final Laver vs. Roche. Nothing but serve and volley on a grass court that looks like it was trampled by a union cavalry charge. In all due respect to the great Laver, the S/V gameplay from that era I find quite uninteresting.

Nadal has been the victim of the "younger ATG"phenomenon.

I wish that I could "suffer" like Nadal. If I could be one of the big three, it would be him; the all time, undisputed King of Clay.

    Something better than Tourna Grip?

I use the classic Wilson Pro overgrip. I tried Tournagrip but it shredded on me. I live in Fort Wayne. Before Wilson, I used the Head SuperComp which was comfortable, but the Wilson is much better.

How to move from 4.0 to 4.5 ?

Yea, I hear what you are saying. I've rededicated my self to the game this year and doing thing hat I have never been tried (such private lessons, getting a ball machine, ect). And I am working on one shot at a time... and it will not be the end of the work for me if I never make haha. BUT I...

How to move from 4.0 to 4.5 ?

How do you maintain 4.5 play when your friends are 4.0 ? Do you practice regularly with your 4.5 team? Do you play tournaments, lessons, working with the ball machine ? Just curious.

How to move from 4.0 to 4.5 ?

Good points. I'm working on approach shots, followed by the volleys and putaways. More aggressive tactics with better ball recognition. I've finally good a really kicker on the second serve. What are the different formations? I'm trying to develop a slice, but I'm having a heck of a time...

    Roger getting surgery

Are you referring to Fed's first serve when he was up 40-15 double match point at Wimbly 2019? If so, that was incredibly close and an incredibly lucky break for Djoker, as all such points are.

Does A Two Handed Backhand Need A Loop Backswing?

Old post but fits my current conundrum. For the life of me, I cannot consistently loop my 2HBH and hit a clean ball with it. I always hit it late or wobbly, with side spin. We've all seen slow motion videos of the pros' backhands (esp. Djoker). My 2HBH is identical to Chang's. The racket...

So uh, how's 2021 going for you?

Yea, now that USTA summer league is over, and the Fort Wayne city tournament is done, it seems like I'm starting to have a harder time getting guys to practice with me. It's a good thing that I have a ball machine... Maybe things will pick up in a few weeks when the fall season begins.

How to move from 4.0 to 4.5 ?

Funny you mentioned that... I lived down there for five years, and played K-Swiss and USTA. It definitely is a tennis mecca.

    Tennis Tutor Plus Remote Pairing

Yea, I bought a used player model from e-bay, and I have replaced the throwing wheels, the batteries, and now the charging unit. I have called Tennis Tutor so many times that Ron knows who I am now! Hopefully it was worth the hassle of buying a used model and saving that money. Like you, I...

    Sleepless

Sorry you are dealing with this ... insomnia is awful. I try melatonin, warm milk and prayers. I find the rosary to be quite relaxing. I hand my problems over to God so then I let it all go and don't have to worry about it, at least for the rest of the night! It helps me. External forces ...

    Mayami strings

Thanks for the sympathy - it's getting better slowly. It was shipped from New Jersey, so yes, it must be that someone at that warehouse mishandled it. It is not the company's fault. I don't have the box anymore Hopefully they will have a larger gauge back in stock sometime - I would love give...

Hey Glapagos! I was hoping that you would chip in. I purchased the reel of TH from mayamistrings.com. My cooling enthusiasm for Tour Hex is not connected with shipping problems. I know that my about face with TH sounds silly, but let me see if I can relate my story. I'm just now deciphering...

    Better returner: Agassi or Federer

Has to be Agassi, especially since he had the advantage of having the two-hander. It's also worth mentioning that multiple times he had the daunting task of returning against the greatest server of all time in Sampras, which must forced his return game to improve even more.

How to move from 4.0 to 4.5 ?

How to do it ? Shot recognition? Better stokes? Strategy? An insane work ethic? Is it worth the effort? The money into lessons? What's the ultimate reason if I'm not a pro and do not play tournaments? I'm 46 with four kids and a wife at home, working two jobs already. Is it more fun to...

Wow! Great returns to Zverev's ankles. That's the "two volley" strategy at work off the serve.

    Dealing with a net rusher

Right, down the line is the first option vs. cross court due to a longer hitting area (thus more room for error) down the line. If you have good topspin, a lob can be effective, but he has to be relatively close to the net and he can make the smash if he's quick and your lob is not deep enough...
