Not really. Even if Nadal lost in the 1st round at the AO, he would gain points relative to Novak. basically if novak doesnt defend the AO, he wont have a shot at the no 1 rank for a VERY long time

Djoker made his first QF 1 year after Rafa did... so its not like Rafa had this major head start. Also factor in that Djoker has never missed a slam due to injury (despite the retirements) while Rafa missed 09 Wimby, 12 USO and 13 Aussie)

If Sampras never faced as good a player as Federer than how can you count time at no 1 against Rafa?? Its not as if Rafa has never been ranked 1 or was there for just a few weeks. For example, Nadal in 2007 and 2011 was an extremely solid, and just ran into players on ridiculous seasons.
