    Wilson Clash 98/100 Tour

My spec "wheelhouse" is 12.6 to 12.8 oz static weight and 9 to 10 pts HL and it doesn't matter to me how I achieve it. The only racquet I've used in stock form is the Pro Kennex ki5 PSE, which already comes with a leather grip and is over 13 ounces and about 10 pts HL strung. The strung weight...

What can a 46-47 year old player realistically do ?

Not exactly. I'll just hit my shots with their usual level of "crushness," sometimes I'm hitting against some pace and flattening one out -- it might come off pretty hot... the lady is just moving to fill space on the doubles court and correctly anticipates the direction of my shot. She should...

    Wilson Clash 98/100 Tour

I'll add that they do need some weight in order to work well for me. They were too light and lacked both power and stability in stock form. I have both the 98 and 100 Tour customed up the same, with a leather grip plus 2 or 3 extra grams in the handle and about 12 grams total of tungsten tape at...

    Wilson Clash 98/100 Tour

The Clash 98 has virtually the same specs as the 100 Tour. I have them both and only prefer the 98 slightly over the 100 Tour because it is less sluggish to produce my one hander and I feel I get a bit more accuracy and pop on my serve. They both have 55RA and provide the most comfort of any...

What can a 46-47 year old player realistically do ?

No, TTPS is incorrect. Unless I'm having some fun, hitting with juniors or the lower 3.5's, 3.0's to give them some work, I go full throttle...

What can a 46-47 year old player realistically do ?

I think it just depends. A lot of 4.5 men have great skill and win a bunch of doubles matches but don't play with a lot of power or spin. There are also some 4.5 and 5.0 women that are more suited to handle pace and spin than others. Most of the time though, even when I am playing 9.0 mixed...

What can a 46-47 year old player realistically do ?

See my reply to BounceHit... I started playing around the age of 10, so about 40 years ago but it wasn't my primary sport. I played baseball, soccer, football, basketball... in my late 30's I devoted myself virtually exclusively to tennis, joining my club, competing in tournaments and leagues...

What can a 46-47 year old player realistically do ?

Thanks! And you are spot on. I grew up with a wooden racquet using linear strokes and playing serve and volley. I had naturally above average hands and skill at the net and developed a strong attacking game. But I needed to adapt my strokes and strengthen my game off the ground and from the back...

What can a 46-47 year old player realistically do ?

At age 49 I am NTRP 4.5. At age 39 I was at 3.5. I still compete in USTA 18 and over league and my 4.5 team has a median age of more than 55, with our oldest player being in his mid 60's. The majority of our opponents were much younger, yet we've advanced to Sectionals... so, it is possible to...

Line Calls With Shot Spot or Hawkeye Have Always Been Wrong!!!?

Interesting to see that slow motion in Real Bounce. It does appear to both demonstrate the depression of the ball as well as a skid across the surface. The ball appears in at the first millisecond of contact, then "skids" and depresses beyond the line before rebounding and appears out.

Line Calls With Shot Spot or Hawkeye Have Always Been Wrong!!!?

It isn't a "skid." The ball deforms and elongates as it comes in contact with the surface. The image shown on the computerized replay is a representation of the impression left on the surface by the ball as it was depressed before rebounding away....

    I'm a marketers dream - just bought a Clash

I suffer from the same affliction. One of my buddies termed it NRSD - "New Racquet Searching Disorder." I own dozens of racquets and have switched to no less than 4 different models for primary competition during the past 2 years, each time believing I have found "the one." Alas, no such thing...

    Time for a "better" racquet???

I can relate, but I find virtue in all my sticks. There is no one racquet that can do it all, but it is fun to appreciate where each racquet excels. I always know what I want in my primary competition racquet, favoring the stick that helps me the most on serve and at net in doubles, spin...

    Time for a "better" racquet???

A "misery?" Not how I see it. I enjoy a good "racquet search" and rotate different sticks in my bag all the time.

    Time for a "better" racquet???

Yeah, I got the scoop on that stick from another TT member. Pro stock for touring pros and collegiate players. I am fortunate to have acquired a few 100305 prototypes and would like to have the more "finished" version.

    RISE of the Silver Surfer! - Tricked-Out Solinco Pro 7 w/Silverstring @ 75/30 lbs

Yes, very stable frames! The tour line are harder to find, but I was lucky to acquire a Tour 8 and Tour 10. They are perfectly suited for my serve and volley game, for the doubles court and for maximum variety on my one handed backhand. Sadly Solinco seems to be more focused on being a premium...

    RISE of the Silver Surfer! - Tricked-Out Solinco Pro 7 w/Silverstring @ 75/30 lbs

I also like to start with a light players frame and add weight, but not to the extremes you've gone to! I also chose Solinco but like an open pattern and went with the Tour 8, adding a leather grip, plus additional weight in the handle and some tungsten tape at 12, 3 & 9... took it up to around...

How do you feel after showing up late or defaulting

This has never happened to me, but as a long time and dedicated captain, who takes that role very seriously... I blame your captain! The captain has to communicate with his team and send a group text or email or even make a few phone calls to be certain everyone knows the start time and the...

Optimal/Preferred Number of Players on a League Team

Alot depends on how big your local league is and how many matches each guy needs to play to qualify for playoffs/sectionals. When I was captain of our 4.0 team, the league had only 6 teams and we played a double round robin of 10 matches. I liked to have everyone play a fairly equal amount, with...
