Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

Well... the TW university racquet customization worksheet (http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/customizationReverse.php), some basic math, the right leather grips and a bit of lead in various places helped... I just finished customizing the racquets and was able to get all 4 to 346...

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

Hi all, Last year I got 2 Blade Pro 18x20, original specs unstrung with plastic were weight: 310-312 gr, balance 33.0-33.1 cm With a Wilson leather grip + Babolat Feel overgrip + 1-2 gr of lead mid handle I got them to specs I like a lot! weight 343 gr balance 32.7 cm. I just got 2 new ones...

Gut / poly hybrid - same tension or differential?

I tried a number of combinations and finally found the best one for me: mains Babolat VS touch 17 at 49 lbs x crosses Luxilon 4G soft 1.25 at 49 lbs. Starting with the same tension on the mains and crosses works great after all: the VS touch loses about 2 lbs in the first 24-48 hours then...

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

I'm not sure a few grams of static weight matter (I wouldn't be able to tell the difference either) as much as the balance... Mine were 33.0 and 33.1 unstrung, which is more head heavy than most 32-32.5 specs posted here... and now that I got used to those I'd really like to get more racquets...

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

Does anyone here know how to get Blades Pro within a certain spec range? The two 18x20 I purchased last year had very close specs: unstrung weight 309g / balance 33cm, and weight 307g / balance 33.1cm. That was quite a bit more head heavy than most other specs that have been posted here, but I...

Gut / poly hybrid - same tension or differential?

Now that I think about it more, 4G soft also holds tension well. After an initial drop from 51lbs to 44lbs it stays there, with Racquet Tune giving me a stable 48lbs overall for several weeks... I'm not seeing any noticeable change in the feel of the string bed either, which I guess is primarily...

Gut / poly hybrid - same tension or differential?

Thanks! Maybe I should try 4g instead of 4g soft then... 4g soft is losing tension over time for me, like I tried to describe in my original post.. If 4g keeps it's tension almost as well as the gut, then a 2lb-4lb differential makes a lot of sense indeed as 4g is so much stiffer than the gut...

Gut / poly hybrid - same tension or differential?

That's my thinking too, so I'm trying to understand why most people use a differential, and are ok with that differential going from 2-5lbs into the 8-11 lbs after a while... Is there any benefit at all? Also how often do you restring? If like we're saying here a 0 lb differential is more...

Gut / poly hybrid - same tension or differential?

Thanks! So when you start with a 5lbs differential how long does this play well before you have to cut and restring? With the poly losing tension you must be at a 11 or 12 lbs differential after a few days... Does that still play as well as 5 lbs?

Gut / poly hybrid - same tension or differential?

Hi all, What tension differential do you all recommend in a gut / poly hybrid setup? Most ATP players seem to string 2-4 lbs higher on the gut mains than the poly crosses, but they also switch to fresh strings before the poly loses much tension. I've been using a 2 lbs differential (mains...

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

OK Thanks. 340/33 plays really great! The best racquet I've played with in a long time... I just had fear of missing out I guess after reading post where folks were happy with 32.5, and that had me wonder if 340/32.5 played even better... I'm not going to worry about it and focus on mental...

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

My two 18x20 frames were 309g/33cm and 307g/33.1cm unstrung. Is that too head heavy compared to what it's supposed to be? With a Wilson leather grip + Babolat feel overgrip + 2g on the handle of the lighter one, I got both to 340g/33cm strung and they play great, but seeing all the posts about...

BP 18x20 here, Babolat VS 17 x Luxilon 4G Soft 1.25 has worked great for me at 55x53, 53x51 and 51x49 lbs, eventually settled for 53x51 lbs. HTH

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

The ones I got were initially more head heavy: Unstrung Weight Balance 309 33.0 307 33.1 Strung with Babolat VS Touch 17G + Luxilon 4G Soft 1.25 Weight Balance 327 33.8 325 33.9 After several experiments and messing up with too much lead I eventually settled for a simple...

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

Leather grip + a bit of lead under the grip at 1cm and 18cm + thin overgrip took both racquets to 345g/32.6cm. I wasn't sure as that's a bit more head heavy than my usual 32.2cm balance but after today's hitting session I'm sold. The Blade Pro reminds me a bit of the Ultra Tours I was using...

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

Hi all, I received two new shiny Blade Pro 18x20 today: specs are W 309g / B 33cm, and W 307g / B 33.1cm. I'm not measuring the SW myself cause it wouldn't be accurate. The frame feels a tiny bit boxier than the previous Blade v7. They're getting strung with the usual, Babolat VS Touch 55lbs...

    2019 Wilson Blade

Sounds good. I initially thought that the new Blade 21mm (or 20.6mm according to Wilson Web site) beam was more comparable to the H19 or Ultra Tour beam type but a comparison with a 22mm beam H22 with more power will be interesting too. Let us know when you get a chance to do your testing. Thanks!

Differences between the Wilson H19 and H22 frames

I would love to believe that the Ultra Tour is using the H19 mold, but all the used H19 / pro-stock for sale out there seem to be 98 sq in under various paint jobs... So how can the Ultra Tour, which is 97 sq in... be from the same mold? Any thoughts?

    2019 Wilson Blade

Any thoughts on how with no Countervail and a softer flex the new Blade 18x20 compares with an Ultra Tour with added lead or a pro-stock (H19) Blade?
