My husband, Don S., has died ....

Don Thank you so much everyone. And yes, Don was definately part of the "old" boards here before it switched over, so Im sure there are a lot of people on here that knew him, and I know he did a lot of racket exchanges and things like that with people on these boards. So, I just thought you all...

My husband, Don S., has died ....

Don For your information, my husband died July 13th. Two weeks ago and one day. Yes, Im keeping track, because every second since then has been a hellish nightmare. So, obviously, family and friends have known since the minute it happened, and services were last Sunday. Im just now getting...

My husband, Don S., has died ....

Thank you everyone. He played tennis with a guy down the block from us, and I had to call him up and tell him what happened the other day. They used to play tennis together a few times a week, just hit back and forth, have fun, ya know. This guy, his name is Maurice, thought the world of Don and...

My husband, Don S., has died ....

Guitarplayer - he was DShep on Vanderbilly.com. The guys over there already know. I posted a similar message over there earlier tonight and he posted over there I think a lot more than here, but I know that here he spoke with several people and sold/exchanged rackets with a lot of guys too. I...

My husband, Don S., has died ....

I had no idea where to post something like this, and I barely know how to use these forums. It took me awhile to even figure out his password to get in here and let you all know this ... Here goes.... Hi Guys. This is Kelley Lynn, Don Shepherd's wife. He was DonS on here, and I am pretty...

I'll Never Buy Another Head Racquet!

I've got to agree with the OP. Head racquets just aren't built to take a beating. My old Austrian PT 280 only took 6 or 7 good bashes on the net post before it broke. Even back then, Head's Quality control sucked. I could beat on a net post all day with my old Prince Pros :)

    Any 50 y.o use 12oz+ racquet ?

The two best posts of the thread. All of us "Old Farts" were using 12+ oz racquets when we were 12 years old. I played with a T2000 for years. We never obsessed over things like how a dampener affects the racquet, I never heard any of the kids I played with say things like, "I just have to...

    Pros and Volkl

Didn't Jiri Novak use a Volkl Tour 10 back around 2003 ish? I saw that epic 5 setter between Novak and Younes El Aynaoui on the grandstand court of the 2003 US Open and It looked like Novalk had a Tour 10 Midplus. I think Jimmy Arias used a C10 pro briefly back in the early 2000s as well...

Dunlop MW200G 95 vs Volkl Tour 10 Mid

Ok, this is just me and of course your mileage may vary. I used both the MW 200G and Volkl Tour 10 Mid Gen 1. Maybe I just got a bad MW 200G but that racquet was the biggest POS I've ever owned. it felt like I was hitting with a dead half frozen fish, zero feel. Spec wise it should have...

Volkl Tour 10 Mid Generation I

I don't know if it's quality control issue or not but my "Red" Tour 10 Mid feels and swings heavier than my "Quantum" Tour 10 Mid.

Volkl Tour 10 Mid Generation I

"TOUR" is in red? never seen one of those, I have one that has TOUR in white and "Mid" in Red. I tried to sell that one on the FS/T boards awhile back but after the buyer flaked, I kept it. They're great frames but I prefer my C10 Pro tour when it comes to 93 sq. in. Volkls.

I love the most random frame - Pro Kennex Kinetic Pro 7g

I would imagine that the stiffness difference may be a result of strung versus unstrung frames. 11.7 is more along the lines of being correct. 12.2 doesn't happen on that frame w/o lead. But in the end, those numbers can't be applied to your specific 7G. It's like askingsomeone who has the...

    Yet another Kinetic 5g experience

I had an old 10 G SMI break while I was stringing it about a year and a half ago so I pulled out the strip of plastic that the "Sand" is housed in. I didn't seem like much in the way of mass but I guess the only way to really know how it reacts on a typical tennis shot is to play one without...

    Yet another Kinetic 5g experience

I've used the 5G off and on for over 10 years. All 3 of my frames were made no later than 2002. There was a time a few years ago when PK went through a difficult financial period and you couldn't get 5Gs for many many months. I don't know if the newer batch of 5Gs are the same comfort wise as...

    Yet another Kinetic 5g experience

I have 3 PK5G's. One old SMI version and two of White/black/yellow PJs that I bought back in 2001 when they first came out. So those are the older versions of the New PJ. I noticed that while all 3 play close to the same, one in particular newer PJ frame just feels better to me. Like it's more...

    Racquet Evolution!!!!

It didn't take very long for me to discover that I was not Jimmy Connors lol I still have that POS ... for those days that I feel particularly masochistic .... or if I just want to go out and hit rocks :)

    Racquet Evolution!!!!

JK Autograph... my first racquet. My first girlfriend threw it at me one day and it cracked T-2000 ... Replaced the JK Autograph. Absolute crap!!! Only redeemable feature: It excelled at hitting rocks. C10 pro .... Bliss In between ,throw in a few Prince Pros, Wilson Stings, PK...

    Interesting Fake?

I would think that that racquet probably wasn't popular enough to really bother with making a fake. I could be wrong but don't these places make conterfeit versions of whatever happens to be hot at the moment? Which is usually what a popular pro player is using?

    Should longer racquets be allowed?

Well, if we're going on the argument that a longer racquet gives an unfair advantage, what about a player who is 5'11' playing someone who's 6'4". If an additional half inch or so added to a racquet makes a difference, what about that taller player with an arm length difference of 6 inches...

Would you call a foot fault?

I don't call foot faults mainly because I don't feel that touching the line before you hit the ball gives any advantage. If I'm receiving the serve, I'm not at any extra disadvantage because of someone's foot touching the baseline. If anything, It may be a bit of an advantage since stepping...

    Questions about aging technology

What I'd like to know is this... 20 years ago, Pros were winning with PS 6.0's, Dunlop 200G MW's, POGs. Pros were using PS 6.1's. If those raquets were able to perform at the highest level in tennis, is there any reason whatsoever to think that a typical 5.0 or 5.5 player can't compete...

Whats your lead set up for a PT 280 ?

Well yes adding lead at 3 and 9 might help with that. Also If a PT 280 is twisting on you, your mis hitting. Clean up your technique and use a larger grip. It's an 18x20 string pattern so I'm guessing you use a small grip to whip it around enough to get decent topspin. Throw an additional...

Kinetic 5g's, for Higher Level Players?

You know, the 5G get's touted prettty much exclusively as "The Arm friendly racquet" and it is. But it's a great racquet all around. If you're looking to mod one to get close to 13 oz. you may want to try to hunt down the PSE version of the 5G. I think that TW only stocks the Ki5 Version PSE...

    Please Help

My personal experience tells me that it's the racquet that is the source of my TE. I've used Gosen Micro 17 exclusively for over a decade in every frame I own. About 18 months ago I pick up a Prince TT Warrior Midplus. Loved it, played great with it for about 2 weeks. Then I started getting...

Pro Kennex 7G - rattle in frame?

Unfortunetly, I tossed that racquet a long time ago. A shame too because it was a really good frame. It was the Old 10G SMI. Almost all glossy black, beautiful frame. If I could find another one in 4-5/8 I'd snap it up, but they're almost impossible to find.

Head Prestige Pro vs. Volkl 10 Series

I'm a Volkl guy too. I have C9's, C10's, a C10 Pro Tour, a Comp C10 Midplus, and Gen 1 Tour 10 Mids. Now this is strictly me and of course YMMV, but I also have a Head PT280 which I love. To me, a racquet is all about feel. That's why I prefer Volkls (and old Volkl's at that.) Head...

Pro Kennex 7G - rattle in frame?

That "Salt Shaker" sound is the kinetic material ratling around inside the frame. Totally normal. I got see it when my old 10G SMI cracked while I was stringing it. We're all familiar with bubble wrapping right? Everyone loves to pop the bubbles. Imagine a long single row of bubbles, Inside...

How do i choose my strings when ordering on the store?

Just realize that that Prince "P" only looks cool when it's facing the right way, if you flip the racquet over, it's backwards. You don't want to look stupid so you have to make sure you only hit on the side of the racquet the P faces the right way. Or you can buy a Volkl racquet so you...

Volkl PB 10 Mid: Designed For High Level or Club Players

So, just out of curiousity, is anyone using the PB 10 mid that also used or still uses the old Gen 1 Tour 10 Mid? I love my Tour 10s and wondered how the PB 10 Mid compares to the Tour 10.
