Has anyone measured changes in stiffness...

C'mon all you racquet nerds who are regularly obsessing over every little spec! :) You mean to tell me you have never wondered if your stick basically becomes a completely different racquet after, say, a season of play? If you haven't been wondering, why not? Who knows someone who can...

Does Ashaway Monogut ZX lose resiliancy over time or just tension?

One of the reasons I ask is that unlike many TT posters I can go years without breaking a string. I hit with a lot of spin but not especially hard. Gut can last me a loooong time. Any other folks find ZX arm friendly over the long haul if it doesn't break on you? Considering its price and...

Does Ashaway Monogut ZX lose resiliancy over time or just tension?

Natural gut has a reputation for being easy on the arm because it remains resilient even as it loses tension. Does Monogut ZX behave like that or does it go dead like a poly. I am liking how it plays after some time has passed and it has loosened up but I am wondering if it will hurt my arm...

Has anyone measured changes in stiffness...

...after using a racquet for a significant period of time? If so what were the changes and how much was it used in the interim? Somebody who works at TW perhaps? Thanks.

Is football and basketball really the reason why american tennis suffers?

This is a great thread and I think almost everybody is making good points. One very small bit of speculation I would like to add would be the effect of the relative amounts of clay court tennis being played in the US currently vs. the rest of the world and even in the American past. I did not...

    Most open string pattern?

The Tecnifibre 295 XL is 102 sq. inches and has a 14 X18. EXcellent racquet in general.

    All Black Tecnifibre ATP Bags

Will TW ever be getting the all black Tecnifibre bags that carry 3, 6 or 10 racquets? The only one you currently have is way too big for me. Thanks.

Yonex racket with a round head??

You are correct that it is not round but it is much rounder than their typical racquet and from some angles looks close to round. It has an atypically dense string pattern as well and is unusually stable/arm friendly. This racquet has a following because of these factors.

How harsh are hybrid kevlar string jobs?

I bought a flexy demo racquet that came with a brand new Prince Pro Blend kevlar/synthetic gut string job strung at 56lbs. I am aware that kevlar is off the charts stiff and extremely arm unfriendly. Will the synthetic gut crosses soften things up enough to make it somewhat playable or should I...

Murray fans, would you rather he be placed in Nadal or Djokovic's half?

This is a good question. Djokovic and Murray have never met on grass. I don't think Murray is intimidated by Novak the way that Fed and Rafa are. The backhand to backhand matchup could be a draw on grass so if Lendl can fix that second serve just a bit I say he wants Djokovic.

Tennis in Ft. Lauderdale 12/8 to 12/15

Hello, I will be staying at the Marriott Harbor Beach which has clay and hard courts. It is also near the Jimmy evert Tennis Center which has lots of clay courts as well. I'm a 39 year old male and a solid intermediate used to hitting with both better and worse players. I have no preference...

    They've destroyed the US Open

Simon plays a game that is kryptonite for Del Potro. He keeps the ball low and uses the opponent's power against him. He has beaten Federer, Nadal and Delpo on fast hardcourts before. This had nothing to do with the courts.

Possible Co #1!? - Nadal has to defend points at Queens Club

He's up by 45 pts and that is the amount he is defending. This is one 250 event won't be tanking. He and Djokovic could end up tied. I can't remember that ever happening. Any longer memories out there?

Roland Garros 2011 Final: Rafael Nadal (1) vs Roger Federer (3)

I agree the balls help Federer but it looks like the final will be played under cooler, wetter and slower conditions. I think this will help Nadal. I think Soderling's serve was blunted a bit by the fact that he and Nadal played on a cooler day and the serve is the big advantage Federer has...

Federer needs new racket and new string.

I remember a thread where Breakpoint and others like him were going on about how amazing it was that Fed could win with such a small racquet. I argued that it was an advantage for him, given his style, to have the added precision and consistency of a smaller headsize. Now he's arguing that a...

    [1] Nadal vs. [21] Dolgopolov - R4 Miami 2011

Who does Nadal want to meet in the IW final?

If Novak wins he will be on the opposite side of the draw through much of the clay season I expect and he's probably Nadal's main competition. Plus in at least a few tournaments Federer and Djokovic will be bashing it out in the semifinal tiring themselves out. If Federer wins he will...

Will I ever learn to love the Volkl grip?

Relatedly, does anyone know the reasons Volkl produces this style of grip? Do they argue that it has some advantages? Only thing I could think of is that it seems well suited for the continental grip and therefore good for serve and volley. It might be the case that those who play with an...

Hey all, I have access to several nice, lit seaside courts at two different resorts in San Jaun PR on the dates above and was looking for a hitting partner of any type and skill level. I am a friendly intermediate. Thanks. John

    Kneissl may be back....

Yes, I believe it is the same line. They look like Vantage racquets but nicer. I think the Black Star is designed so that the string spacing will be nice and square if you switch between 16X19 and 18X20 string jobs.

    What happened to Cilic?

He seemed to be making progress in 2009 but 2010 was not so good for him after his excellent Australian Open. Was he injured or does he have a weakness that was exposed and exploited? His game looks attractive and sound and he should be hard to break given his height. Is he a flash in the pan...

World Tour Finals is Definitely the 5th Biggest Title

Thats only because of the time scale involved. They don't know the grand slam winners from 8 to 12 years ago off the top of their heads, either (unless its an easy period of blanket dominance, off course.) I do think some gold medalists stand out in a way no year end champion ever has...
