Even Federer admitted himself that he should've lost today.
Really summed up how out of the world Falla played today. Too bad that tennis is a sport whereby one doesnt win a match until he actually closes it out successfully, which in this case a few chokes during crucial moments were enough to...
Another Titanic-like battle going on in the Anderson-Davydenko match as well...has gone to 5 sets too currently locked at 1-1 in the 5th
I guess its going to be an evening/night match for Djokovic and Rochus
Federer goes through in 5 sets
5-7,4-6,6-4,7-6,6-0.
Not exactly a blistering start to his campaign, but at least it shows that Federer is no ordinary fighter. Congratulations...now Federer will face a No.153 ranked qualifier named Bozo....jac.
Just give him this game will you Fed! You''re going to win the match anyway so might as well avoid embarassing Falla on Centre Court!
I think its remarkable that Falla is still on the court at this point, his performance today, regardless win or lose has been impressive for someone of his rank.
Falla was given so many chances previously to serve the match out,but he wasted them all.
Its now back to haunt him,and it will, for a long time.
Fed is 5-1 up now in the tiebreaker. Seems like we're headed for a 5th set. Can't the crowd show some Falla love? Come on guys.
No surprise somehow. Cilic hasn't done much since that semifinal run in AO. How did he go down under the radar so quickly? I thought people have been hyping him to be a future No.1 or become a Top 10 mainstay in 2010?
Looks like Fed has been taking some lessons from Gulbis on the mastery of dropshots. He has been putting it to good use. Its nice to see Falla come to the net,but at the inopportune moments.
Heh.
15-40. Two bps for Fed. That was a great pickup from Falla but it wasn't enough.
30-40. Uh.
LOL. WTF. Falla. GTFO. You just squandered 10342040 chances to finish this match off as quickly as possible. 5-5.
It's now up to Falla to serve out the match 5-4.
Now the worrying should begin for Falla. This is the true test. Closing out the match, knowing that Fed will do anything to breakback here and continue his comeback from 2 sets to 0 down.
Falla saves bp with a great serve.
deuce.
backhand error from Fed gives Falla adv.
and Falla holds. I know Fed shanked that shot, but I still question Falla's shot selection at certain times, especially when he is at the net. He could just put away the shot with crosscourt, but he keeps hitting...
Falla can conjure up some beautiful angles. Problem is he doesn't do it consistently. Fed instead looks like the one that is moving him around left to right. His backhand looks better now.
I sense a momentum shift. That was Falla's possible only and greatest chance to take the match in 3 and get it over and done with in the shortest time possible, but he wasted those chances due to nerves and poor shot selection.
Now if Fed takes this 3rd set,Fed will win this in 5.
