    Horrible Forehand...just sailing long..

Keeping the racquet on the ball longer goes back to the initial gripping. Any good topspin stoke is through torquing and this should make sense for you. Eg, like twisting open a 'tightly sealed jar'

    Horrible Forehand...just sailing long..

If players realise on here that tennis is first played from the hand to grip the ball with the racquet, then players will stop swinging and literally learn to control the ball a million times better. You can do anything you want with a ball once you grip first. If you swing or try to the hit...

    Horrible Forehand...just sailing long..

Increasing milliseconds of dwell time is easy, usually players who have trouble doing this are not waiting to accect the ball first due to early uncoil. Wait longer in your coil thus you can achieve a better torque with the ball through the hand and forearm. Grip and rip it, too many players...

    Assessing player weaknesses during warm-up

Yes he mentions that in the book, it's a no brainier . just keep looking for opposites in the warm up. Give him high and Low ball see if he has trouble with either, slow and fast. Slice and topspin, high volleys and Low volleys. Attacking balls and defending balls. Just observe what he found...

Help figuring out what grips i use

Actually I didn't look at the 2nd pick but yes eastern. Try using a semi western on the forehand then you will be a good grip for the backhand just for fun and see how that feels. Will save more time

Help figuring out what grips i use

Your forehand is An eastern grip. If you keep using eastern forehand grip you will need to change to use eastern for backhand grip. To make it really simple, a semi western forehead grip can be used for the one handed backhand. You don't even need to change grips.

Tips on how to make contact in front?

Yep so looks like I created history, with the longest running thread and being banned from my own thread lol. I knew that thread I created would be different to any other on here and hope it achieved the goal of making people aware of the most underrated yet essential aspect of technique.

Tips on how to make contact in front?

Well I have been banned from own thread lol but I can put my own two cents in here. Bottom line is Unskilled tennis players will try to square the racquet up in front with their arm as opposed to squaring the racquet in front with the hip and shoulder usually due to holding the racquet too...

    Holding/absorbing the ball

So all your experience in coaching you don't understand that the best players grip the ball for control which in turn creates greater mass to move the ball. How it that hard to understand, you guys crack me up that you don't get something so simple.

    Holding/absorbing the ball

You dont get it do you, you grip the ball by uncoiling. So if your like umm. Seriously why? Hitting through is a direct collision

    Holding/absorbing the ball

Omg this is too funny, you actually think the pros hit or slap the ball and you can't understand that initial push from a coil will prolong the strings on the ball. Why you just try it and you will see how easy it is to keep the ball on the strings longer. It's Soo easy to do, then while the...

    Holding/absorbing the ball

No you don't hit through the ball because you uncoiling on the ball. Hitting through would be just flat. Also you turn into the ball then you thrust with a rotation once you square up.

    Holding/absorbing the ball

Some other source ha ha, wow you have officially shown your lack of tennis iq. If people take that seriously they are worse off, you need to be pulled up. It needs to happen or people on here will be miss-informed.

    Holding/absorbing the ball

If you can give me real feedback to understand then you actually may have some decent tennis iq. Why are you so ignorant about what contact is, so you also think the best players literally hit or slap the ball and not push and turn?

    Holding/absorbing the ball

Exactly, my whole reason for doing this, even the other coaches on here need some help in the right direction for this

    Holding/absorbing the ball

That fact that your asking rings a lot of alarm bells, either your are a classic club/ rec player and always struggle and mis-understand technique or you a good player and you don't even know you push and turn. Holding/absorbing the ball

So what your saying is you didn't know that the best players push and turn on the ball? You should know that a continual push and turn will create a natural stick with the ball.

    Holding/absorbing the ball

But this is common sense, if you good player you would be pushing and turning on the ball. If your of a Low level standard I bet your use your arm mainly and hit the ball, half a millisecond of dwell time. By the way chief, this topic I started is way more valuable than most other threads on...

Tips to rotate upper body to initiate forehand stroke

All good chief, You don't act on on the ball when it's on the strings, the ball is kept on the strings due to the initial push and turn.

Tips to rotate upper body to initiate forehand stroke

I bet your holding the racquet to tight and you have the inclination try and hit the ball due to being too fast coming into contact. The slower you go into contact the better your chance of gripping the ball.if you can't grip the ball you will not be able to use the large muscles group well...

    Holding/absorbing the ball

This needs to be re-highlighted, possibly the greatest effortless way for the ball to go with the most power is through the resistance created on the ball so the body thrusts the ball. I bet every single rec player on here has never felt that. That moment of thrust is what all the TOP players...
