    1hbh vs 2hbh

Thanks for all the advice people! Having experimented some more this week, I've decided I'm going to work and develop my 2 hander. Reasons being that it's considerably more consistent than my 1 hander, I find it easier to set up and I can control depth better with it. Using various tips I've...

Most surprising & most disappointing racquets you've tried?

I'd like to add another to my "most surprising list"; the Yonex Vcore Lite. I bought this when I first started getting into tennis, so must've been about age 12. 5 years and many paint chips later, I'm still using it regularly. I don't really know why but it just works for me. It's a bit too...

    New Ubersonic 2.

Running shoes are in no way comparable with tennis shoes, no matter what the material. Running shoes are unsupportive because they're not designed for lateral movement, not because they're made of primeknit. Also, the Ubersonics are designed for speed not durability. If you're going to slide...

shoes that pair well with Babalot pure aero?

My earlier post in this thread was deleted because I posted a link to a picture that happened to be on a "competitor's" website. Not entirely sure what TW expects me to do when they don't actually carry the shoes in question! So here's the same picture, without the link. And as a disclaimer, I...

    Nike Fly 2.0 Shorts

They do have some mesh inside but only over the pockets. The rest isn't lined, they're just one thin layer of polyester. I don't actually mind the material, good for keeping cool, but loose-fitting and incredibly thin isn't a good combination IMO, at least if you don't want to look ridiculous.

    Nike Fly 2.0 Shorts

Anybody else own a pair of these? I bought them yesterday at a Nike outlet-stupidly without trying them on because I thought "they're shorts, they're in my size, what could go wrong?". Turns out, a lot! The fit is insanely loose on the legs. To put it into perspective, I could probably fit both...

    Best bang for buck overgrip

Ironically I've never actually tried the white, but I've heard good things too. Don't quote me on this, but rumour has it the dyes they use in the coloured versions degrade the quality of the overgrip, making it less durable and less tacky than the white one. As far as I can remember, I've used...

    Best bang for buck overgrip

Yonex Supergrap for me, I can't see past it. It's not the cheapest OG in the world but it feels nice, is a good length, wraps well (only OG I've ever tried that doesn't cause that "kink" at the bottom of the handle), and lasts a long time. I only ever buy Supergrap by choice, but if I run out...

    1hbh vs 2hbh

I know, I know, there's 1000s of threads with this topic. But please hear me out, as I need good advice. I've been playing tennis for 5 years now and, although far from being a "good" player, I play solidly and am quite consistent. My forehand has always been my weapon as it has always been a...

How many pro use wide beam racquet?

That depends on what parts of your game you wish to improve. If you're struggling with control, imparting spin or feel at the net, then a thinner beamed racquet could help you to improve these things. But the big downside to switching to a thinner beam is that you will notice a lack of free...

Can a OHBH Work with the Blade 18x20?

I agree. I hit with a Dunlop which has a very rounded grip shape and it seems to be a great fit for my OHBH. Can't really explain why, the shape just feels more comfortable than a more rectangular one, and my hand rarely if ever slips when hitting a backhand shot. Yonex and Wilson are pretty...

Can a OHBH Work with the Blade 18x20?

That's an interesting point. I can and do hit both types of backhand, though I mainly use a 1-hander. But every time I play with the Pure Drive, I feel myself gravitating towards the 2 hander. Not because my 1 hander doesn't work when I use it, but 2 hands just seems to feel more comfortable...

Outdoor carpet players: what type of shoes?

I need a new pair of shoes but as I play on "outdoor carpet" (sometimes aka artificial grass, but it's not really), there's no obvious choice for what kind of shoe I should be wearing. Clay courts shoes seem to work but really trap the sand and become slippery, whereas some hard-court I've tried...

    Wristbands: Do you wear them?

Personally, no. I used to wear them when I was younger as more of an ill-advised fashion statement than anything else. But these days I see no need, as it rarely if ever gets warm enough where I am for me to need them. Plus I don't sweat that much, at least not in places where a sweatband would...

    Tecnifibre Lead Tape-do I have a dud??

I didn't think of that. I still think my TF tape isn't as adhesive as it should be, but I'll give the tape trick a try and see how I get on. Thanks :)

    Multi-surface Tourneys?

Ahh I see. Interesting idea I must say, would be fun to watch. I can see that working as a year-end tournament, as it would rightfully reward the most adaptable player rather than the one who happens to be good on hardcourt.

    Multi-surface Tourneys?

They did try this to an extreme level a few years ago!

    Tecnifibre Lead Tape-do I have a dud??

It's actually quite hard to find lead tape where I live. I have to buy it online in any case, but even then there's only a few websites that sell it. The site I buy mine from tends to sell stuff like that a good bit cheaper than other places, so if I can't find the Tecnifibre stuff anywhere else...

    Tecnifibre Lead Tape-do I have a dud??

Yeah definitely smooth on the printed side, although the other side of mine doesn't seem much stickier! Very strange. Apart from a bad pack, the only thing I could think of is the particular frame I'm trying to stick it on. Does lead tape possible adhere better to glossy-painted frames than matt...

Racquet of the month club: A thread for raqaholics:

No, mine is a retail model I bought from a website here in the UK. As part of their Wimbledon deals, they were practically giving Dunlop frames away. They had the M2.0, the M3.0 and the F2.0 Tour all for £20 a piece (~$27). So I bought the M2.0 and an M3.0 (I don't like that so much, but I will...

    Tecnifibre Lead Tape-do I have a dud??

Admittedly I did skip that step, but my frame is almost brand new so there shouldn't be any debris. Plus I've never done the alcohol step when I've customised my other racquets, and that lead tape (Wilson/no-brand stuff) has always stayed on well. I think it must be a bad batch, or a change of...

    Best pure syn gut frames?

Never. My Dunlops came pre-strung with Silk and I had to cut it out asap. Absolutely dead, no spin, no feel, not that comfortable, not at all durable. I agree with your frame choice, but the string is complete crap.

Racquet of the month club: A thread for raqaholics:

Oh, I just noticed that someone else shared some thoughts on other racquets they've demo-ed. I may as well do the same, as I know how tempting a good second-hand deal can be! Babolat Pure Drive 2013- Very good stick for my baseline game. Solid feeling, manoeuvrable and plenty powerful. Could be...

Racquet of the month club: A thread for raqaholics:

My most recent purchase (because it was amazingly cheap) is a Dunlop M2.0-my first player's frame. At first I really didn't like it, as coming from a lifetime of tweener rackets, this hit like a plank of wood. But after stringing it up with Kirschbaum Spiky Shark and adding 10g of Blu-Tack to...

    Tecnifibre Lead Tape-do I have a dud??

I bought this stuff over my usual Wilson tape as lots of people on this forum and beyond were singing its praise. I just tried putting some on my Dunlop and I'm pretty disappointed... For starters, it's way too thick for my liking. It's less like tape than strips of rubber, which makes it pretty...

    Pro Staff 97 18x20 - Shapovalov

Fair enough! I can hardly talk mind you- I wasn't the most enlightened person when I joined the forums at 13. I was actually just looking back today at some of my early posts, and some of the ridiculous sh*t I said is unreal. Let's just say the phrase "Wtf dude" appeared a lot...

Should I buy the Graphene Instinct MP?

A few years ago I used to play with a Head IG Instinct MP. It wasn't the perfect racquet, but I really dug the feel of it. Solid yet comfortable, somewhere between a comfy Dunlop and a Pure Drive. And it played great, I could hit such a heavy ball with it. Plus the paintjob was gorgeous... But...

    Pro Staff 97 18x20 - Shapovalov

I do understand that, and I'd like to think that anyone who's been into tennis for a while would know that. But I was asking the OP what he meant by his statement, as he didn't clear it up. "Wilson doing it again" could mean more than one thing...

    Wilson BLX Juice Pro

I've done a little research and apparently Llodra and Zvonareva used it.

    Pro Staff 97 18x20 - Shapovalov

Still don't understand what you're saying here, OP. Wilson does it again because they've painted his racquet for marketing purposes, or Wilson does it again because another successful player is (supposedly) using a ProStaff?
