how do you stay focused in a match?

How do you stay focused and what do you focus on? I try to focus on winning one point at a time and moving my feet, but quickly forget and just become mindless and reactive.

How to create a Yonex Regna 98 for much cheaper and with better tolerance...

When you are passionate about something, whether it's tennis, bikes, model trains, watches, you become irrational. It doesn't matter what the cost is (within your purchasing ability), you'll pay for it. Compromises don't quite cut it.

Stringing instructions for Toalson Sweet Area 320

Anyone strung up the Sweet Area? How much string for mains and crosses? Holes to skip and tie off? Can't get a response from Toalson. Thanks.

    Stringing instructions for Yonex Regna

Thanks Jedi Master. I don't think I am going to use this now though. I bought 2 98s from TennisWarehouse 1 strung and other unstrung in a few weeks ago. I hate it. Granted I have only played with it for 5 mins, 15 and 1 hour. For me, it is too dead. Too flexible and has a smallish sweet spot...

    Quitting tennis

you can improve a lot on your own. 1. Practice your serve. 2. Shadow swings. 3. Find a wall. 4. Get a topspin pro or ball machine. Take a group lesson every now and then to meet some potential hitting partners. I just love getting on a court and hitting balls with or without a partner

Reality check of "I get 8-10 hours out of a string ..." -- fishing stories, folk tales, or a hard truth?

I have an old Aero Pro Drive strung with 4G and Klip natural gut, that i left sitting for about 2 years. the NG broke after 6 weeks playing 2 twice a week. On cutting out the strings, there was still a ping sound and recoil with the NG, while the 4G had no tension and no sound. Very surprised...

Reality check of "I get 8-10 hours out of a string ..." -- fishing stories, folk tales, or a hard truth?

I recall an interview with Brad Gilbert, who said that he and many other ATP players would play with the same racket for several weeks. He didn't hit with the heavy topspin that modern pros do, and didn't always hit 120+ mph serves, but my guess is that he still hit harder on average than 99% of...

Thanks. I'm seriously considering buying one. My only other concern is the potential that these could be fakes.

The complete downfall of the single handed backhand

At Rick Macci's academy, he has banner which says, "The great thing since sliced bread in tennis is a great backhand slice angled short" I would listen to him rather than a rec coach.

The complete downfall of the single handed backhand

Counter arguments: Justine Henin was only 115 lbs and demolished 2HBH opponents twice her weight. Think of Williams's and Davenport. Marcello Rios was a slight dude and dominated for a few years.

The complete downfall of the single handed backhand

Average speed doesn't mean much for 1 handers. They have more variety and use slices to change pace and bring opponents in more than 2 handers.

The complete downfall of the single handed backhand

I saw a match last year where Stan hit a BH at 107mph. Djoker, Agassi never reached anything close to that. The 2nd hand on racket keeps the range of motion of the 2 handed stroke shorter, resulting in less pace, topspin and reach. If Djoker could hit a 1 hander he would even have more reach on...

The complete downfall of the single handed backhand

Outdated advantages? Which 2 hander hits with more power than Stan? Which 2 hander hits with more topspin than Gasquet? Which 2 hander has more feel than Fed? Which 2 hander has more reach than any 1 hander (assuming same arm length)? Agree that the 2 hander has more stability. And although a...

The complete downfall of the single handed backhand

Advantages of 1HB: 1. more power 2. more topspin 3. better feel on all strokes on the backhand side. Volleys, half volleys, backhand overhead. Due to constant practice of always having just 1 hand on that side. 4. better reach. Like having an inch or 2 bigger sweet spot.

Anyone know the avg groundstroke speed today vs the Connors, Mac, Borg, etc.. era?

Lendl used to tattoo young McEnroe at the net, with his groundstrokes routinely. Then old Mac played Blake and Roddick in the QQQ tour. Could imply Lendl was hitting as hard or harder than Blake and Roddick.

Anyone tried Mark Jeffrey's online coaching?

His approach is to train like elite military. Interesting concept, but not sure if it is just like other hyped up mental training.

Do shaped polys really saw thru multis?

Many folks here do not recommend a hybrid of shaped poly with smooth multi, as the poly will saw thru the multi, like a knife thru butter. But, since both types of strings are soft. I would think any edge would by worn off rubbing against the smooth multi, instead of sawing thru it.
