    The Magician's Final Trick

Its amazing that a guy with really no weapons and no physical strength can last so long in a world class sport....

    Interesting Trend....16x19 > 18x20s

personal preference. for every pro that you name that uses an open string pattern, i can name one that uses a dense pattern.

Grip size - have you gone smaller?

I went from a 4 5/8 to something slight smaller than 4 3/8 and i'll tell you why: it lets me concentrate and feel the racquet head. With this setup, I not only had to relearn the point of contact, but the follow through. what i got was more access to angles while being able to slap flat down...

    Inside info from Bercy...SHOCKING!

i used to practice with guys i didn't particularly care for but they had groundstrokes that i had to practice against and vice versa... also, at the top echelon pro level, its hard to find someone to even practice against cause you're just so much better than everyone else.

    Fabrice Santoro retires at 37

i'm amazed that his style actually made it to beyond top 20 in the WORLD. imagine how many pure athletes and big bashers he beat everyday to get to that ranking.

I go headhunting in when playing doubles to rattle my opponents nerves

this tourney im playing in, We're about a 4.5-5.0 level and they were particularly known for being a wall at the net, but shady groundstrokes and weak 2nd serves. My team is quite the opposite. Very strong groundstrokes but a little suspect at the net. It seemed to work as they seemed...

    Agassi hates tennis

Look beyond just what agassi says when he says "hates" Think of his childhood and his dad hustling him. Think of the failures that are magnified. Think of the physical pain of being on tour. Its not so much he hates TENNIS, but all of the demands of the sport and the past bad memories that...

    2H Backhand with the K90.

i have to admit to that the K90 makes my 2hbh hit kinda wierd. I dont know how to explain it. it just doesnt get the heft and pace as other sticks do.

which racquet gives off the MOST spin?

of all the players racquest i've tried, the yellow babolat that nadal uses makes a pretty mean spinning ball. when i finally hit with it, i was like "ahh, so thats how nadal does it"

In the past 20 years, who had the toughest draw to win their first slam?

Oh, don't forget about Mats Wilander 1982 FO title

In the past 20 years, who had the toughest draw to win their first slam?

I'll give it to Chang on the basis that he was a 17 year old wunderkid from out of nowhere taking on some consistent and seasoned veterans on a tough stage. still to think 20 years later and its still considered THE miraculous run.

Cilic was #2 behind Donald Young in ITF Juniors in 2005

it'd be interesting to have a "where are they now" story about some of these juniors.. there are some from india, korea, kenya which aren't known to be tennis powerhouses.. wonder if they fizzled out or what..

    Dent's Racket

Isn't Dent's stick one of the heaviest on tour these days? a lot of guys now are going lower weight and lower swingweight..
  16. H

Is the swingweight of Verdasco's racquet really 280???

I think this new generation of players are playing with less weight than the last Sampras/Agassi generation.... Andy Murray used to play with a hefty stick but has since lowered his stick to something like 340g... I think it has to do with the western grips, poly strings and stiffer racquets...

My transition from a modified Head Microgel Prestige to a stock asian Wilson K90.....

Background: I am in the midst of changing my game from an aggressive counter-puncher to a more attacking all court game. I would classify myself as a 5.0+. I have used Head ever since the PT280 first came out so I have used the same line of prestige for over 10 years+. It is the only...

Jimmy Connors still wearing 20 year old Nikes.

seems tennis clothing is always classic. look at the countless stan smith adidas shoes or lacoste polos that everyone is STILL rocking after 30+ years. i just want the agassi "punk" clothing to come back. that stuff was great.

    Why so much Murray hate?

out of like 10 posts on this forum, 8 are just hating or extreme bandwagoning. anyways, I think murray is still evolving his game ever since his wrist injury and hes still gaining some weight. he's got tons of time as he's still only 22 years old. I wouldn't call him a washout until he's...

How would you describe what happened in the Murray-Cilic match today?

Murray has had the "davydenko syndrome" this year. high ranking, lots of expectations but just falls a little short when it counts. of course, this forum is full of fanboys and haters but he's done great this year and he's still young (only 22 years old). i expect great things from him and...

How have you enjoyed this US Open?

its been the only tournament where the top 30 (men's) have dominated so thoroughly.. never before has this happened. now, that doesn't mean its been boring. theres been some great matches... but it just hasn't been "epic" yet... ala (09 french open soderling def. nadal or wimbledon final...

    Wild Cards at Shanghai Masters

you can even bribe your very own challenger tournament director in some 5th world country to give you a wild card so you can start gaining ATP points. the magic of wild cards! (but seriously, its a great way to see fresh faces and not the same old players all the time)

    Donald Young = Tommy Ho

the transition from the juniors game (and even NCAA) is so different than the ATP tour. when you have guys guys in the top 100 who can potentially beat each other, the difference is minimal and they need any weapon they can get.

    Monfilis US OPEN Champ 2009

monfils coach has been trying to get him to attack more. his game now is reminiscant of his junior days which he just ran down every ball. he's strong enough to pound any ball that comes his way and i think he can match nadal strengthwise. much like most french players though, they have a...

Say some no name scrappy player qualifies into a major and he's gotta go against a top opponent. Other than ask around, what tools does a top flight player have to scout? The scrappy guy has tons of videos to watch and analysis of say federers confidence, roddick's forehand, nadal's...
