2024 Paris Summer Olympics - Sports discussion

They haven't been solid gold since 1912 https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/last-olympic-gold-medal The grey stuff is metal from original parts of the Eiffel Tower which were replaced over the years. Medal winners have said they really like the design touch and connection to an...

The Queen’s Club Centre Court is going to be renamed Andy Murray Arena

Queens club is an exclusive private tennis club, check the membership details, so calling a court the Andy Murray Arena is tacky as h3ll.

Will Djokovic ever win another Slam?

I was thinking more about their shot selection.

Will Djokovic ever win another Slam?

At least one more. Alcaraz is now on 4 slams and he's far less reliable and machine like compared to Nadal and Federer at 4 slams. Tiafoe pushed him to 5 wilting in the 5th due to inferior fitness. Sinner needs to strengthen up his body, until then you can't bank on him meeting and taking out...

One can argue all the pressure is on Carlos to not be remembered as a MUG

Calling him a mug* is trolling although (all) the pressure is all on him. They're at opposite ends of their careers. Djokovic has most of the records, he's made his history in tennis, anything extra is just that extra. Alcaraz in contrast is more at the beginning of an outstanding career...

2024 Wimbledon Women's Final: [31] Barbora Krejcikova vs [7] Jasmine Paolini

I can imagine the Barbora pre-match tactics meeting 'Babs you're a much bigger and stronger player than Paolini. You don't even need to go for your shots, even though you're not noted for being a big hitter your normal shots will still have too much weight for the little Paolini to handle. She...

2024 Wimbledon SF - [1] Carlos Alcaraz vs [5] Daniil Medvedev

I watch Alcaraz play and wonder if the fan adulation about him at 21 having a more complete game then Nadal, Djokovic and Federer has gone to his head. There are many times when a simple backhand or forehand drive is the better option but instead he plays a little dink or drop shot which so far...

2024 Wimbledon Women's Final: [31] Barbora Krejcikova vs [7] Jasmine Paolini

Vekic was overpowering Paolini. Krejickova however isn't a big hitter of the ball so I think a good few of the rallies will be decided by consistency, fitness and court craft as both plays like to play with variety. I don't see Paolini choking much if at all in the final. She has that happy...

2024 Wimbledon Quarter Final matchup - [3] Carlos Alcaraz Garfia (SPN) v/s [12] Thomas John Robert Paul (USA)

At Queens Carlos had trouble handling Jack Draper's heavy groundstrokes and against Tommy the same is happening.

2024 Wimbledon Quarter Final matchup - [3] Carlos Alcaraz Garfia (SPN) v/s [12] Thomas John Robert Paul (USA)

There's a face from the past, Tommy Paul has Justin 'Chicken legs' Gimelstob in his box.

2024 Wimbledon Quarter Final matchup - [3] Carlos Alcaraz Garfia (SPN) v/s [12] Thomas John Robert Paul (USA)

So far unless I'm wrong Tommy's groundstroke look a bit heavier. What a great rally from Tommy.

    2024 Wimbledon Quarter Final matchup - [1] Jannik Sinner v/s [5] Daniil S. Medvedev

Tommy breaks back. Incredible. Alcaraz being a more seasoned player in the latter stages of slams should not have been so lax.

    2024 Wimbledon Quarter Final matchup - [1] Jannik Sinner v/s [5] Daniil S. Medvedev

It does not look good for Sinner. Zverev went out injured and Sinner is heading the same way. He had his head in his hand there.

Wimbledon 2024 R16 matchup - [4] Alexander Zverev (GER) v/s [13] Taylor Harry Fritz (USA)

On TV they're saying his movement is hindered so it doesn't look good for later round matches if he wins this match.

    Wimbledon Crowd Watching Soccer!

Netherlands were unimpressive against Turkey. Swap the Dutch for the Germans then we'd have a dream semi-final lineup. Unfortunately the draw didn't allow for it.

Raducanu pulled out of Wimbledon mixed doubles

This is making a mountain of out a mole hill. Murray already had a great send off with former and current players courtside. Players including Djokovic, Martina and Mac. Saying farewell to the crowd after losing a mens double match with his brother is surely more meaningful than farewell...

I am ready to believe in Zverev again

How's the knee? He teaked it or something playing against Norrie. Then in the Norrie match there were those games when in the lead he played tentitively almost chocking and afraid to hit the big heavy shots which earned him the lead.

Alcaraz the next short king like Agassi?

Their games are completely different. Alcaraz has a bigger range of shots and better movement and plays a more all-court style. Agassi was far more baseline orientated and against other players of their own time Agassi was a lot more dominant in power baseline rallies.

I'm out the quality was for large periods garbage.

Roland Garros 2024 F: [4] Alexander Zverev vs. [3] Carlos Alcaraz

If only the play was as good as the choking we'd have a match for the ages.

Roland Garros 2024 F: [4] Alexander Zverev vs. [3] Carlos Alcaraz

Lucky Zed he almost choked the smash. It just had enough on it to maintain the advantage in the point and in the end winning the game and set.

Roland Garros 2024 F: [4] Alexander Zverev vs. [3] Carlos Alcaraz

Zverev needs to treat sets 4 and 5 as different 1 set matches and he needs to win both. That's his only option if he wants the title.
