Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

What's funny is that I see many people using that exact frame. It's still very popular. What's your opinion of the black blx 90? I haven't seen one person with it so far.

I see. Makes sense, as I still see many people using the 6.0 85. I have a St. Vincent myself and it's definitely it's own racquet!

Does the 90 sq. in. head size have a place in the modern game?

I can only speak for myself, but I think it's likely done in the pro level. But there's always the exception (Federer was for the longest). Recreationally speaking, to each their own! Most of the guys that I hit with still use the 90 (different variations of the Pro Staff 90, some old schoolers...

Morten - what's your opinion on the PS90 2014? Have you much experience with the other Pro Staff 90's as well?

Gotta agree with you. I'm not 5.5+, I'm close to the same level as you and there just something about the PST90 that I have come to greatly appreciate. They are different from other racquets. The box beam, the weight. The preciseness of the shots. It's something else. They are a lot more...

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

That's very light for a Pro Staff, I think the lightest they made are the asian versions. Yes the Pro Staff 95 is easy to handle when compared to the Pro Staff 90 but there's just something about swinging with a 90 that feels precise, almost surgical. I don't know if it's just the box beam...

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

I see! Okay, so the newest iteration is that famed Pro Staff 85 just in a 90 form? That everyone on here has asked for for so long? I know a lot of people swear by the K90 as well, I have yet to play with one but I will sometime soon as a friend of mine has some. Interesting about the BLX90...

Say Chi Sin Lo, I think I've read in a couple of other threads that you've played many of the different variations of the tour 90's. Can you attribute any differences to each variation?

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

Pistolero, I realize I never checked that for sale thread you had up back in I think November. I was just picking these up then. I have 3 now so I'm good but thank you. If I ever do I know who to reach out to. What would you say are the differences between the PST90 (2003) and the PS90...

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

I see. I play similarly, I like to mix it up with serve and volley and baselining, etc. My backhand is a lot more topspin than flat but I'm learning to even it out (I'm coming from a two handed backhand). I find that using a 90 works well with the one hander too so I'm happy about that. Forehand...

Oh okay. I will take you up on lowering the crosses then. I was thinking of going the same tension for both the main and crosses in the hybrid but if you're saying it will be too stiff if I run, say, 57 lbs. up then I will heed your advice. You're 5.0 I believe? How do you play your game? A...

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

Really? 50 lbs. cross with 60 lbs. main? Won't that still make the balls fly long? Wouldn't you run the lbs. at least closer to each other (again, not much experience with strings). Really? I agree about maybe a muted feel. It's just I used to really like slugging my baseline forehands when I...

I see - okay. If I run the NXT Tour 18G at 60 lbs., I expect the strings to be less lively, correct? Tourna Black Zone, in which gauge and tension? SpinToWin, have you any experience with Luxilon Big Banger Original (16 gauge)? The amber/light brown colored strings? What's your opinion of them...

SpinToWin/Racquetreligion, Thanks for your guys' suggestions. Sorry I haven't replied in the last 2 weeks, had to be away for a while on errands. So I'm thinking of taking up your guys' suggestions of running the multifilament NXT Tour 18G as mains, just deciding on the cross. Thinking of...

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

RacquetReligion - I have a friend who is a fan of the Solenco Tour Bite as well. I noticed your tension was a little on the higher end as well. Would you consider it stiff as compared to say, Solenco Outlast (red string with a really plastic-y feel). Reason I ask is because the Outlast tore my...

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

I'm coming from maining the nCode 6.1 95 16x18 pattern. I had a pretty flat serve with lots of pace and my forehands were penetrating with some amount of topspin. I would prioritize control and probably touch. I'm now using the Tour 90 and I love it but I've noticed that my shots are a lot less...

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

I agree. I'm likely going to see my balls go long again. Have you any experience with multifilaments that play close to Natural Gut? Like NXT Tour? If I were to run a full bed of this string, would you raise the tension to avoid hitting long as these are typically more powerful (albeit less...

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

Thank you for that. So I see it is lower tension than my prince poly main/technifibre multi cross hybrid combination. I've never used Babolat tonic or head hawk - are these poly's? Gut? I'm finding that my balls are flying long with my poly/multi combo at 50 lbs. Do you find that you hit long...

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

Are you using the 2014 Pro Staff 90? That's a little different than the Pro Staff Tour 90 (Hyper Carbon 2003). Regardless, it is a 90 square inches and weight is similar (12 oz+). Can you translate kg to lbs? Sorry!

Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90 Club

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have two of these frames. Currently my main stick, I've tried two different string combos. One is Volkl Cyclone 18G at 54 lbs. and the other has Prince Tour 16G mains and Technifibre X-One Biphase 18G on crosses, both at 50 lbs. Can any of you that have...

Please help me identify this Prostaff Tour 90

I know I may get blasted for this, bringing this topic from the dead, but I was wondering if someone could help me answer the question of the OP. I'm actually looking at a Pro Staff Tour 90 on the big auction site that has the same throat specs as the one in the picture. It's different from the...

Did Roddick get any records today?

Nicely put lol I think we should appreciate what Roddick did yesterday. That was some effort.

Roddick will never play at that level again

I dunno. I think Roddick will be consistent from now on. He's lost badly to Federer, and as much as it's phased him, he's obviously learned a lot and looks to keep coming back till he gets him. Here's to Roddick cracking the top 3 if he keeps playing like this.

    Wimbledon 2009 Men's Final: [2] Federer vs [6] Roddick

Hey my bad for making you feel like I was attacking you. Didn't mean to come off that way. Anyways, in the end you make a very solid point, "if's" don't come into play because your right, IF Nadal was in the French, and scenarios like that won't matter in the end. Congrats to Federer. And I...

    Wimbledon 2009 Men's Final: [2] Federer vs [6] Roddick

True, but Roddick had that set on his racquet. When he flanked that volley, it was over. And your right, ifs don't matter matter, actually. And I'm guessing your what people on here refer to as a ******* (your name is after all DarthFed). So "if" Roger hadn't had mono, he would have won more...

    Wimbledon 2009 Men's Final: [2] Federer vs [6] Roddick

This was a great game. Federer wins it, Roddick laid it all out on the court, and I honestly felt he deserved it. I'm a fan of both...but I wanted Roddick to win it so badly. I hope he'll win it next year, or something, he played amazingly. I hope he continues playing like this. But I swear, had...

    Wimbledon 2009 Men's Final: [2] Federer vs [6] Roddick

I don't think Andy's done just yet...it'd be good to see him take this set. It would make things interesting going into the 4th.

    Wimbledon 2009 Men's Final: [2] Federer vs [6] Roddick

True, but it sure rattled him. Up until the 6-2, Roddick was playing beyond great. Sure, Fed stepped it up, but Roddick had the game on his racquet at 6-5...and he choked it.

    Wimbledon 2009 Men's Final: [2] Federer vs [6] Roddick

He did, but Roddick HAD it. I just feel it was more on Roddick than it was on Federer's skill on that TB.
