    USTA "3.5"

Most folks I know don't care to get a higher rating level enough to put in the work it would take to move up a level or two. Most of us are middle aged folks who just want to play fair/competitive matches 2-3 times a week. We have to put in enough effort at home, work, etc. Tennis is an...

Can someone rescind consent to a match being filmed after giving the ok to be filmed?

Looks like you are in Missouri. I don't believe you need their consent to record if it's in public where there's not an expectation of privacy. I would think there is no expectation of privacy at most public tennis courts. Doesn't make it right and also does not touch on posting the video.

    USTA "3.5"

On that chart what's the difference between: Played or commited to play for a Division II,III or NAIA College Team Played for a DII, III or NAIA college and I or my team were unranked or ranked out tof the top 10 in ITA rankings They both have the same ratings. Am I missing something or...

USTA League: Is this scheduling bad enough that I should complain??

2024 National Regulations say at least the top 2 teams should have a playoff in the event of a partial round robin. 2.01C(2) Partial Round Robin. Each NTRP level within a local league may play a partial round robin competition wherein every team plays the same number of matches against randomly...

Receiving a player background form indicative of grievance filed?

Have never heard of anyone I know being asked to fill out the form. My guess is someone filed a grievance and they want to verify that you did not lie when you self-rated.

    "out" call from adjacent court????

I don't believe you can be hindered by something that does not happen on your court.

A team plays an unregistered player and then registers them after the match.

Default here. How captains allow this to happen I'll never know.

The most delusional player you ever met?

The ones who lose 0&0 and talk about how it was a lot better match than the score would indicate. 'Lots of deuces'.

How to prevent permanent damage to eyesight from serving into the sun with one simple rule change (which also makes the match fairer)

Have played this format before. Place we go on vacation has an open doubles round robin for what is mostly an older crowd. They play this way to avoid having to serve into the sun. Team A, player 1 serves. Switch ends. Team B, player 1 serves a game, Team B players 2 serves a game. Then...

League coordinator screwed my team over pretty good

OP learned a valuable lesson. Don't wait a full month before scheduling a makeup match. TennisLink clearly shows 01/16/2024 - 03/24/2024 as the dates of this league. It's highly likely that the LLC had to submit winners to the District prior to 4/7.

    Question for the Rules Experts?

The 6 people saying the OP wins the point need to have their memberships USTA/TT revoked because they've obviously never cracked open the rulebook.

    TennisRecord.com question

Because it's the only place you can go and see near up to date rankings that fit in the NTRP format.

    School now locking courts

It's my understanding that in some locations USTA is offering grants for smart locks on gates, allowing folks to secure the courts and only allow them to be opened if you pay via mobile device and are then given a code/QR code to scan and unlock.

Beating Pusher Who Hits to Corners

I'd love to know what level of tennis this is we are talking about. The answer to the OP's question will vary widely based on level.

Beating Pusher Who Hits to Corners

OP you're not giving us much to work with. You're basically saying, nothing I tried worked. You need to change up your game to find the weakness of your opponent then exploit it. Change up the pace, hit some shots to draw him to the net, see if he can hit shots moving backwards and forwards...

    Self-Rating Rules

Tennis always looks a level lower than it actually is when you're observing. The effect is especially pronounced on video.

Friend on court during tournament match?

Depends on the setup. If there are places for a spectator to sit and not just benches for the players then nothing wrong with it. Would rather have a spectator than someone's kids like one of my buddies does. Ask him to play and he shows up with kids in tow (unannounced) that he constantly...

Rules question in doubles: Is this a hindrance

If anything it's a let based on line 36 although in my opinion it fall under 35 and not 36. In either case it's definitely not the opponent's point. 35. Body movement. A player may feint with the body while a ball is in play. A player may change position at any time, including while the...

Is USTA League 40+ going back to 5 courts?

Our local league is 3D/1S in 40+. This is a change from just doing 3D the last several years.

    USTA State Championship Rainout

That's what I've heard. It's a lot of work for little reward to put on these tournaments (unless you're looking at the bigger picture, tourist dollars.) The local CTA however doesn't get much out of it.

R you ready for some USTA league stats?

Only numbers that surprise me are how many self-rates y'all have. Wow those are big numbers. Guessing it's not a huge league.

Lots of indoor options in the Triad unfortunately I don't think players would be all that jazzed about coming to GBO/WS.

    USTA State Championship Rainout

Problem is Wilmington and Asheville are probably the two most desirable destinations in the state. NC Tennis was in a no win situation. No matter how they determined who would advance someone would've been mad. Perhaps not refer to the lottery winner as the champ. Just say they've won the...
