Yeah, Kodes won 9 straight games in that stretch. Match was on clay incidentally. Bud Collins (who had picked Kodes to win the tournament) reported that Kodes served for the match at 5-2, 5-4 and 6-5, and that there were 23 service breaks. Out of 45 service games.

Yes, and it's almost still true. I know of one higher now, a 1927 international team match on clay, Tilden d. Borotra 6-0, 6-3, with an average of 8.73 points per game. 6.4 is the most typical average, in the database we've put together.
