Tennis Warehouse Playtest: adidas Barricade 13

I've been with the barricade since version 3. I used to get a lot more milage out of previous renditions, but the comfort and break period has improved tremendously. I'm curious to see the direction of the all new barricade!

    Roger in Monte Carlo

I got yer back hewex. It does kinda look like a 95. All you 95ers will never give up. I know its hard to believe, but a 95 would definitely hurt his game. I mean, would most of you like to play with a 110? Didnt think so.

I broke a string today... and it felt better?

My guess is that it will take about 40lb to replicate your popped strings. Don't be scared of 30lb either.

Do you mark your tennis balls & how?

How do you repressurize? I've used the dryer with some decent success.

Who here plays with a leather grip only?

I've been with leather for about 3 years straight. Used to go back and forth, but the true feel of leather is something I can't get away from. Like others have said, summer time is tough. I always question myself and almost go to the dark side, but I use Mighty Grip powder, prince grip...

    Synthetic Gut vs Multi

Drop your tension Bearcat!! Works like a charm. I had a bad wrist for 2 years. Been playing at 30lbs ever since. Of course you'll need at least half poly.

Does Nadal really use 1/4 or does he use athletictape under the handle?

After hitting as many balls as he has, the muscles in your hand mold to whatever size you choose to use. I used as large as 4 5/8 and have gradually gone down to 4 3/8 with a TW thin leather grip. I've actually noticed a difference in my hand muscles.

Do you mark your tennis balls & how?

I use stencil ink. You know, the stuff for strings. Just one big dot with your color of choice. Since we have a few pros who open balls at different times throughout the year, it can certainly help with the investment. At $600-$750 per year, I don't like to lose too many balls.

Federer needs new racket and new string.

Btw...what band is that in your avatar? I'm pretty sure they played at bonaroo.

Federer needs new racket and new string.

    Yeah, I know. Good stuff.

Federer needs new racket and new string.

  Seriously, the smaller head size is much more manueverable for the one hander. Thats also why he has a polarized frame. Much easier to manipulate the face of the racket. If you aren't a one hander, I don't feel that you can make a proper assumption of what he should...

Cont grip on FH near net / half volleys

I've seen many of my top jrs. use a semi for the fh hv on top of the service line and do incredible things with the ball.

Cont grip on FH near net / half volleys

Agreed....but rather than NML, I would consider the service line to be the border. But it also depends on the particular players strength.

    split step

You've left me unconvinced that fractions of a second are unimportant. Useful on every ball??? Nah....but certainly worth splitting every time for that ball that we can't get to otherwise (perhaps match point). Making every ball is not something we can control. Not being lazy and preparing...

    split step

BTW...a fraction of a second can make ALL the difference at any level. I highly encourage all of my players to do it religiously with minimal exceptions. Of course, it needs to be done properly or it will make you worse instead of better.
  23. SplitStepper

    split step

Plain and simple. Land just after your opponents contact. Just enough time to decide what to do with the momentum you've created. This goes for every level, it just depends on how quickly you can judge the incoming ball.

played with a two hander for 15 years. played with a one hander for 5 years. i personally prefer the one hander overall but my two hander has more spin.
