    Tension for Gut/Poly Setup

Thanks Drakulie, Very true point. Is that a good tension/combo to make the most of the gut as it is pretty pricy!

One piece or two piece? Which is best?

I personally always string 2 piece and I have done over 400 frames in my short time stringing. For me it is just ease of stringing, not having to drag all the extra string around. My knots are sturdy and therefore it is not an issue doing 4 of them. Comes down to personal preference at the end...

    Tension for Gut/Poly Setup

Hi there, Been recently playing allot with Babolat Addiction mains at 56lbs with TopSpin Cyberflash in the crosses at 53 and really loving the characteristics. Just got some Babolat VS Team gut just to try out and wondering what tension to go with, any suggestions as I have no idea when it...

wow its been a while since I have been on the boards! Had the Star 3 for a while now and have done about 50 jobs on it as well, great machine, very reliable indeed!

    Low Priced Natural Gut

Have used gaucho gut, mixed feelings really. It complimented my BB Ace quite well in the crosses but recently strung one and it just snapped whilst pulling, so I don't think I would buy that again. Your call about how much you want to pay.

Replicate the feeling of a stringbed from a lockout machine?

Had to string one in a hurry and as the old machine wasn't all setup had to use the Bab, but with the new tensions, I went with 50lbs mains and 47lbs crosses. I took some readings with racketune on the iPhone which I will add on later. From first hitting it felt allot better than what I was...

Replicate the feeling of a stringbed from a lockout machine?

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I am going to string up a frame tomorrow on the old machine and take various readings, then will get some more BBAce in and try some of the tensions that jim e has suggested and other methods to replicate the tension. I will keep you all posted! Rgds

Replicate the feeling of a stringbed from a lockout machine?

Thats the thing, both were 6 point and fixed clamp using the same technique and equipment etc. I suppose I need to string up one on the old machine and see what it reads in racquettune and try to replicate this on the new machine?

Replicate the feeling of a stringbed from a lockout machine?

Yep, both machine have been electronically calibrated to exactly the right tension. That is exactly what I thought when stringing it but they just don't feel the same afterwards.

Replicate the feeling of a stringbed from a lockout machine?

Hi all, As some might know I have recently moved from a lockout machine to a Bab CP. Before the switch I was using my standard setup at 55 and 57lbs but since the switch, have been unable to replicate that great feel and tension from that setup? I have tried it at the same tension, and...

    Is RacquetTune accurate?

I would say it very accurate, I have measured straight after stringing on my very accurately calibrated Star 3 and it reads exactly the tension I enter. Some strings do have heavy tension loss even before playing but that does seem very extreme.

MCS Tension Question - Need help for elbow pain

I would not go so high up if you are having problems, just drop the tension a bit. In the mid 50s should give you enough power, keeping the arm problems away and increasing durability a bit. Defiantly use a full bed until you clear everything up and as Mikeler has said, ease into the poly lower.

    How much for stringing?

My local 'pro-shop' charges £15 ($25) labour, and £30 ($49) for RPM Blast and around £25 ($41) for PSGD, basically a massive rip-off.

Which would produce more spin a 17g multi or 16g gut?

Put BBAce in the crosses, reasonably low 50s and the gut mains about 5lbs higher. It is crisp with good pop and the 1.12 gauge aids extra spin.

Strung my last stick at 57 and 59lbs on a CP machine, worst mistake! Literally ripped my arm off! So I will be stringing one up tomorrow at 52, 54 which is 10% less than my normal tension on my old machine as I have switched from a crank machine to a CP. I find this setup does work with the K...

    Babolat stringing machines history

Just a heads up for anyone in the UK. There is a 4002 up on craigslist for £1800. Looks in pretty good nick, even though the price is slightly steep (just under $3000). If only I had that money! Tom

Thanks for all the information on string selection. I probably be switching back to a multi as my shoulder cannot handle even a 1.12mm poly it seems. Pictures of more blades to come!

    Best pre packaged hybrid pack?

I agree with all the above entirely. But the best package I would say is Ultimate Duo, Alu Power and NXT. I used to use that pack before my shoulder problems and racket switches, which disabled me to use it now. Good pack of string but as others have said, just make your own!

Installing Wise 2086 Electronic Pro. Head Tensioner on a Silent Partner Crump?

Hi Ben, Yes you should be able to remove the existing tension unit by removing a screw at the end of the piece of metal the the the tensioner runs along. This picture shows a FST-600 which I believe is the same as your machine but it indicates where the screw is. Just undo it and slide off...
