    Solinco Blackout XTD 28

Just had another practice session with the Blackout 28. This was ball machine session with a ton of serves. No significant changes to my groundstroke thoughts since my first impressions review. The racket still didn't feel too powerful, though, I was getting some more spin now since adjusting...

    Solinco Blackout XTD 28

Bought this racket on a whim and played with it today. We just did some rallies - no match play or serving. It's strung with Solinco Confidential at 48lbs, very similar to what I normally use. Here are my initial honeymoon phase thoughts. The racket didn't really play how I anticipated it to...

Yes I hope this is the case. My forearm is a bit injured so there's that too. That said my hitting buddy gave it a shot and said it felt heavy too.

    2023 Yonex VCores

Just hit with the VCore 98+. I expected to really like this racket since I love the standard length and I generally prefer longer rackets. But man did this racket feel heavy. It probably has a huge swingweight. I have 15g of lead on my standard length and it never felt unwieldy but the 98+...

    2023 Yonex VCores

[98+] I added lead tape before using it so it's hard for me to say sorry! I've experimented a lot with tape on the regular 98 so I did something similar. Even though I added 50% less lead it still feels like a beastly swing. I don't see swingweight labeled anywhere on the racket unfortunately...

Name ten players outside of the top twenty that you really enjoy watching them play

Yosuke Watanuki (rank 90) All court player Goes for every shot Tries to crush every return Excellent movement Positive attitude and respectful to ballkids Emilio Nava (rank 150) Young up and coming US player Huge serve and strokes Tall and lanky, built like a tennis player Talks to himself...

    Big 3 (Wilson/HEAD/Babolat) now firmly a big 4 (Yonex)?

Yonex is the real deal. I was at a challenger event this week with lots of players 22yo or younger and I saw more Yonex rackets than anything else (Wilson was close behind, all Blades). In the past Yonex shape seemed gimmicky (I would never use one) but now it is much more accepted. Heck I've...

    Vcore 98 2023 -Where's the love?

I have a leather grip on mine plus 4g lead at 10 and 2 each. This thing is ridiculously stable with this config and can handle the heaviest shots. I prefer Restring Zero strings which are fairly muted feeling polys. That plus a dampener and I've got a super muted and fairly soft setup. All the...

    2023 Yonex VCores

Appreciate it! I'm a big fan of the 2023 gen 7s so it's either that or I'll order them internationally. I actually already have a 2023 98+ on the way from Asia, but I'm keeping watch in case I need a second. It was about 300 shipped total, not too bad at all. But until I have it and hit a few...

    Wilson Triniti Balls

I had a case of Trinities in my ball machine for long enough that the felt was mostly gone. The bounce was still great even then. But what really surprised me is without a normal head of felt the balls go ultra fast on serve. My serves seemed to be going 10+ mph quicker. I thought I just...

I'm in the USA and I just special ordered a VCore 98+ from one of these international merchants (note: I would have bought from TW if they were ever coming stateside!). I'll report back how it is!

Golden Gate Open, combined WTA and ATP event this week, who will win ?

I've gone each day to the tournament so far and having a blast. Front row seats for $15. I'm cheering for Emilio Nava to go all the way.

    Soft polys for tennis elbow

Yonex Polytour Pro healed my tennis elbow. I think that's below my threshold. Solinco Confidential definitely hurts my elbow. Above my threshold. ReString Zero hasn't hurt my arm, but at the same time doesn't feel as soft as PTP.

    Amarissa Toth

The problem with Toth is she has a resting b**** face (RBF). She can literally just do nothing and look like an a-hole. Plus, for some reason, the fact that it's WTA contributes. If any male player did the same thing I wouldn't think twice about it, heck, I'd almost expect it. That said, Toth...

I didn't buy it since I figure I can just buy the $150 tune-up if I needed it. That and I've always regretted every extended warranty I've bought.

    Vcore 98 2023 -Where's the love?

Best racket of all time IMO. Ultra plush, ultra spin, ultra control. Love the irregularly shaped head, even irregular by Yonex standards, that brings the sweetspot up. Also, it's made by Yonex, who has the best quality control. It's also great for tennis elbow!

New to stringing - do I need to practice on cheap older rackets?

I practiced on three old rackets before finally stringing my real racket. Of course that fourth job ended up being the worst, with multiple very costly mistakes that I was too lazy to fix (ex: forgot the last cross, accidentally left the "knot" tension on regular strings, etc) That said I'm...

    Hydrogen Sports PROTON

Congrats!!! I've only tried Triniti pros and had mixed feelings for them. Way too bouncy out of the box but once they settle they play somewhat normally, though still slightly too bouncy IMO. I'm lazy though so I think it'll still be better than constantly replacing flat Penns from Costco. A...
