Federer Loses to Nadal in 2010 French Open Quarterfinals

Wow...talk about getting ahead of ourselves... Let's wait till Nadal even gets back on the court and how he performs in the lead up tournaments.

Let's talk about Federer's Backhand, "The Lesser Strength"...

Yeah LOL, Murray tries to exploit Fed's backhand, and suddenly finds himself so far out of the court chasing Fed's angled backhands, and then have the down the line backhand pass him time after time.

Why I dislike Murray? The First 2 sets basically.

I think what Jim Courier said while commentating for the Australian Channel 7 fits in quite rightly here. He said that while Murray has a brilliant all around game that is extremely versatile, he hasn't quite found a plan A yet. Which means that while, for example, Federer is also very versatile...

What's Murray the favorite for now?

He's the favourite to knock Nadal out of a slam, should they be drawn to meet, only to bow down to Federer in the final. Has happened twice, so far. We'll see.

Why are there so little youtube videos

I think that's it, copyright claims from Channel 7, or Tennis Australia. I've uploaded a few practice vids from AO 2010 on youtube, but that's it. You might have more luck trying to get match highlights on other forums such as tennis 4 you . com (remove spaces).

    Nadal drops to #4

Although that makes sense, Nadal has shown more of an affinity for Barcelona than Madrid. He practically NEVER skips Barcelona. Besides, when it comes to scheduling, when has Nadal made much sense? :(

Let's talk about Federer's Backhand, "The Lesser Strength"...

I don't know about the number of winners and what not, but the number of times Federer took Murray way out on the backhand side with amazing angles on the crosscourt backhand, and finished him off with a backhand down the line... SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET.................

    good times

I know that, at the end of the day, he made the decision that he thought was best, and I hope good comes of it. But at the same time, he's lost quite a bit of that respect, that awe, that spirit that many of his fans (especially the really young ones) have come to associate with him. Many of the...

    good times

Honestly, I was at that match, and it was quite a big shock. I've never seen Nadal just...give up. It was quite sad for the fans as there were a lot of people pulling for Nadal at the start of the third, and even during the medical timeout. Even as a Fed fan I'd love to see Nadal come back...

I'm just angry at Cilic for not beating the snot out of him and sending him to bed at 10pm.

    Cilic for AO champion!

^^ If that happens, they would have succeeded in boring 6 billion people to death, and no one will be watching a grand slam final for once.

    Clysters vc Henin

Can I just say, though, that the Brisbane final was the best women's match I've seen in...a long while. The last women's match I can remember enjoying was perhaps 2007 USO, Henin vs both Williams sisters. If you didn't catch it, you don't know what you're missing. Extremely high quality from...

Brisbane really needs a challenge system!

I've got to say though, some of the calls are appalling. Makes one wonder if they got their linespeople properly trained. Many of them look like retirees who could use a good pair of bifocals.

Official medical time-out no longer allowed

Just a note on this: Wayne Odesnik took a medical timeout today against Radek Stepanek. It appeared to be a back muscle that was causing his hamstring to seize. Umpire was Lars Graf, it happened at 0-3 in the second set.

Yep, it was a good performance after so long out. She looked especially sharp on the returns. Only her abysmal first serve percentage kept it close.

Single-handed backhand is very much alive

2008 Junior Wimbledon Boys Final was contested by two players with one handed backhands. I highly doubt that there won't be multiple slam winners with one handed backhands. As for the big IF there, no one can say for sure. Someone else can just as easily say that without his one hander...

I've seen him up close and he is very well-built. Huge and broad shoulders, with pectorals to match. That's how he can slap forehands that hard without extension.
