What a pain! One handed backhand

@Curious so happy to see you still practicing mate. Are you up to having a hit these days? I've been back about 3 weeks after all the surgery recovery.

Is there a dtl low short backhand slice?

Because he s Federer. One of the advantages of the two hander is you can flick across with both arms and get sharper angles.

Is there a dtl low short backhand slice?

So I m assuming incoming shot is weak short bh that is too angled to take as an I/O FH. Deeper slice DTL is safer. Especially if you can get some side. Which he is going to have to hit Cross Court which gives you a forehand volley into the empty court. If he's good enough to run over from...

    Best recent tennis technique book?

I agree self feeds are good especially if you can get used to throwing them over your shoulder. A bit of column A and B with regard to the wall. I normally painters tape a box slightly to either side of the Cross hatch on the wall. So if you were on the forehand side and you're heading into...

    PickleBall and Tennis

I think the sad reality is the biggest threat to tennis is the ballooning cost of land. If you have a declining club in membership people might just choose to sell the club and cash out whereas with larger member base that's going to be less likely

Yep and I'm very okay with me not making the cut

    Best recent tennis technique book?

For reps and grooving a good stroke nothing beats the wall and some painters tape to make a target to hit to. The hard part is the visualization in your head because at least for me if I don't visualize a point being played I just get bored and do half an hour instead of the hour I intended etc.

Mate Captain Obvious says your Hall of Infamy here. Drop a vid of the problem stroke and listen to the sensible people here. Yes that is a subset.

Go to the practice wall instead of just wishing it

Pushers advice to beat better opponents and pushers. Learning to win mental battles in both sides

"Beating pushers imply being skilled to deal with junkballs (which as you point out is something barely trained), and being mentally tough to be patient and look for the opportunity." 100% I call myself an aggressive junk baller. Because my serve sets you up for the junk or my junk sets you up...

Let’s talk about the wall. Myths and Misconceptions

I use serving at the wall to practice desperate defensive slices. So I will serve as an angle and then run the hell over there and get a backhand defensive slice or squash shot on the ball just to get it back into play always aiming cc. Or I will serve straight ahead and practice picking up a...

Serving While Injured - An Experiment

Maybe my serve is just so rubbish i Didn’t notice. When i was injured. I hit acceptable slice and flat serves by walking forward with the rear foot. Of course i hit while the foot was in the air. Less free points but nobody bullied my serve.

    Tennis improvement and age

Oh Danny boy. Don't underestimate muscle memory and years of low cunning. Admittedly it was dubs but me and my partner just beat a 25 year old who had a huge serve and all the shots and a very solid and Tricky old guy after me having six months off tennis and Zero practice. And I would say as...

    Got bagelled

Nice training but. Somebody has to be the test crash dummy on the day you will get them next time. And wins aren't easy being the veterans we are because our opponents are highly adaptive too

    Tennis improvement and age

Old age is sure bad for singles. For dubs it seems to matter less. I just came back after six months off and surgery for three hernias. All the skills were still there although the first two serves were hilarious I missed the ball on the first one and then put it over the fence on the second...

    Got bagelled

Back to matches after 6 months post op. Dubs. Young guy had all the shots. Old guy who was tricky. We won in the TB 10-7 great match. Weirdly I still seemed to be able to serve and had all my old man tricks. Young ling had great BH dtl got burned on 3 points. My partner has improved. She...

    What makes Djokovic sooo goooood?

I don't think you can decide which foot comes down last to return a wide FH. If it's right then you use open or reverse pivot. If you step over with left so your closed. Then you keep stepping over with right and hit as a run through. If u end up neutral move the left foot behind and...

What a pain! One handed backhand

I ve been practising serving up close on the wall so I get fast balls on the rise. The 3 elements seem to be, get some rotation, steeo low to high and get racquet out in front.

Hitting groundstrokes with the same mindset as on second serves

I am finally back to wall sessions when work lets me. I noticed some shots I have high power and some shots the swing feels the same it really seems like I'm just paddling the ball back. I am practising specific footwork so that should still be the same. Seems really hard to get the arm...

    Why is MEP effective?

Ben also gets the racquet in position early. You see on those defensive shots he s running with RH at knee height. And he definitely gets some tip on those moonballs.

    Why is MEP effective?

Omg look at that point at 3.00. Ben makes an error but he had his Opp on a string like pong side to side with all those short angle slices mixed with deep shots. I d lose my ****

What is this step on bh used for?

What I think is step out to side sets the unit turn. Then step behind is to get the right spacing. Because ball is close to Tommy. What I do in that sitch is step behind with left. I m assuming I m wrong not Tommy Thanks @Dragy took a while to process. Your comment was tip top. It is for...

What is this step on bh used for?

OK sorry bh was at 14 seconds. Still don't get it. Because he starts out in semi open. Doesn't look rushed. And moving the left leg behind looks deliberate. As in a trained footwork pattern. Not it just randomly landing wherever as the weight transfers forward.

What is this step on bh used for?

So would I be right in thinking this step would be mainly used for shots hit straight ahead or as an IO bh?
