    Inside-out forehand problem

Check your timing and contact point out. I'm a left as well, and when I want to hit the inside out my timing and contact point is slower and further back. When my timing is too fast or faster, my contact point is further out in front and the ball goes to the ad court side.

What do you do when it feels like your racquet-head speed is too slow?

I would use that opportunity to concentrate on your timing, fundamentals, and simply concentrating on making "good contact' with the ball. Relax and don't force it.

    Big topspin with 1HBH???

Have you tried this swing path/angle? For a lefty 1HBH this........... \ For a righty 1HBH this......... / If you are hitting them "loopy and shallow" your swing path/angle may be this....... | If you are hitting them relatively flat your angle/swing path may be...

Why does it seem like left-handed players have an advantage...

Guilty! I read the thread in order and answer the question in order, so I give my own opinion instead of having other opinions possibly sway my response. Then I see how it stacks up with other people's opinions.

Why does it seem like left-handed players have an advantage...

That's pretty funny. I'm a lefty and my 1HBH is one of my weapons. Many righties who "think" tend to try to initially try to exploit or pick on my backhand, but I have power, touch, and variety with my backhand.

Why does it seem like left-handed players have an advantage...

The only real advantage we have against righties in my opinion, is that we get to play against more righties than righties get to play against lefties. Yeah we have the "ad court advantage" according to some people, but righties have the "deuce court advantage". Otherwise it's basically playing...

Tired Of Thinking About A Split Step

He does make it look so easy. Notice the "fine" adjustments and movements he makes. I think some people who have problems with the split step are not being light on their feet and are making "gross" or exaggerated movements when situation doesn't warrant it.

    Need help cooling my nerves

I'd say to work on your temper a little bit and gain a sense of humor on the court. Throwing your tool (racquet) is like a carpenter throwing his hammer because he couldn't hit the nail straight. It's not the hammer's fault it's the person wielding it. Same with the racquet. When you do such...

Are there advantages to firm wrist on the forehand?

Do you have a video that you have posted, so people can compare your skills to Jolly's??? Maybe you have already posted one, but I usually find it's easy for people to **** all over someone's video and technique when they have posted their own video and put themselves out there. Maybe you are...

Popularity and quality of tennis balls (by brand)

I buy whatever is on sale at Walmart. Either the Penns or the Wilson Titanium. I prefer the Wilson titanium over the Penn for longevity and durability. I've hit with Dunlops before, I think that they are fine.

Tricks to Hitting on the Rise?

You can also practice hitting on the rise against a wall. If you want a "topsin" feel to the ball when it come off of the wall, feed a high or medium backhand slice to the wall and the ball will return to you with some topspin. You can also just hit a regular stroke to the wall and the ball will...

    RPT Spanish Training Model

Nice post Oscar, but I think that you are possibly leaving one thing out. A person can be trained in "conventional" or "modern" techniques. Once a person trains to a certain level and the techniques become "second nature", they do act instinctively and do think about feeling the ball on the...

    conterpunchers versus pushers

I'd say Murray is primarily a counter puncher though he also adds some more aggressive aspects to his game as well. I admire Murray's style. There's a few videos on youtube of Murray practicing, the one I am referring to was in an indoor court, he can knock the heck out of the ball.

    S&V ok, but....what else ?!

Here's some advice I found: "COMMON APPROACH SHOT ABUSES 1. Attempting to hit the corners perfectly thus the ball lands out much of the time. This is most common in players having a serve-and-volley game style. Direct your approach shots deep, just to the wide side of the backcourt target...

    S&V ok, but....what else ?!

Maybe you can work on being more consistent from the baseline, use aggressive shots, and punish the "short ball" with an approach shot and use your volleying skills. Also work on chip and charge if you are not doing that already.

    Agressive Forehand Problems

LOL, Papa. I have the greatest respect for the "old folks"! I'm in my early 40's (42), the "old folks" I am referring to are 60+, the "old folks" I am referring to are like that Greek guy that was featured on one of the more recent threads, ATHLETES. These guys can be run around, but they are...

    RPT Spanish Training Model

I liked those drills in the OP. The way he made them count the points was good as well. In the beginning stages, I can see feeding the ball "nice", just so the students groove their strokes and become more confident and proficient. What I see around here are too many coaches/instructors who just...
