Poll: have you played in a mask, and if so, how did it go?

Same thing happened here in NorCal. I was booted from a tennis group email chain when I posted Fauci’s history with PCR testing. I was simply questioning whether this guy was on the up & up. This was FEBRUARY of last year, before the lockdowns. 99% of the tennis group were hyping the...

Poll: have you played in a mask, and if so, how did it go?

I know of one person that is currently going around and nailing businesses that arent respecting the rules of these mask mandates - which state that those with a disability dont have to wear a mask. Once the ADA gets involved it’s $75,000+ fines being handed out. It’s a shame that lawyers...

Poll: have you played in a mask, and if so, how did it go?

Her fears must be your fears. Conform or else! Freedom is free-dumb! Resist! OMB! 2020 basically gave every dope in America a bit of authority over others - authority they did not earn or deserve. I could take one look at any of their grocery list and objectively point out that they dont...

Poll: have you played in a mask, and if so, how did it go?

How has this thread not been nuked yet? Lol As for the OP... i wont wear the mask for any reason, let alone tennis, on principle alone. Im perfectly comfortable doing my own health research and weighing my own risks. Im certainly not taking health advice from politicians or marxists. The...

    Hows the quarantine treating you

Of course it is nonsensical. Signs posted at the courts. “No competitive play”. “Hit with only household members”. Threats of locking the courts up if rules not followed. And since 95% of this tennis community wants to virtue signal, they’re voluntarily following the rules. These are the...

    Hows the quarantine treating you

I haven’t played any tennis in about 7 months. They closed our courts for several months. I nearly got arrested for practicing my serve by myself. Then when they re-opened I was harrassed by cops for doing drills with my 3 year old daughter - I was not social distancing and a neighborhood...

    Rule question about loose ball

Seems to me there is no clear answer on this. But these proclamations seem fair: Hinderance - no Let - yes, if opponent so finds it a distraction (i tend to leave balls often, only to clear them with my racquet mid point, always a dumb move on my part & more of a distraction to me, but my...

Bought 3 new bikes so far 7. Societal Hypochondria slowed this goal 8. Im failing at this goal 9. Im heavily focused on...

It’s time we stop bashing “pushers”

I’ve never seen even the best pro tennis players take the “volleyball” approach and go for the spike every time. Football teams dont hail mary on first down. Basketball teams benefit from eating up the shot clock. Baseball players that only swing for home runs strike out a LOT. But hey...

Was I in the Wrong Here? Or Justified?

Totally justified. Happens at my local public courts all the time. Along with dog owners that think it’s a dog park. While there is a huge grass field adjacent. I hate people.

The Most Exhausting Opponent to Play Against

Only if the ball is short. TS with depth gives most rec players fits. Even without pace.

The Most Exhausting Opponent to Play Against

Slice on approach is pushed heavily by all the coaches I’ve worked with. TS is for baseline play.

The Most Exhausting Opponent to Play Against

I was in disagreement with you on TS until this post. I see what you’re saying now regarding energy usage by older players. Doesnt negate the bebefits of TS tho. A deep ball that rises hard off the bounce is high %, creates lotsa errors or weak returns, and at worst doesn’t allow a good...

How do you recover after a match?

“The average person, if eating healthy, wont need to stretch no matter how many hours they sit” There, fixed it. Tho, one could argue, that a human that sits at a desk for 8 hours a day isn’t the definition of “healthy”. And stretching isnt going to be their solution. Being more active is the...

    The Match Tiebreaker

Considering you have YouTube for highlights & DVR you can fast forward thru, why should the sport’s rules be adjusted?

    The Match Tiebreaker

Because while a NBA basketball game is “only” 48 minutes long of regulation time, it’s actually a 2.5 hour long grind. And come playoffs (equivalence of a major) they are 7 game series to determine who is best by way of attrition. But you watched none the less. Granted, much less TV options...

The Most Exhausting Opponent to Play Against

That “type of player” took out top seeds at his level did he not? He’s hoping his opponent tries to blow him off the court. Or plays pusher ball with him. His kryptonite is someone doing what orange did. Which Im guessing you would’ve done, just with a bit more efficiency (higher skill allows...

The Most Exhausting Opponent to Play Against

This is the hidden lesson in the video. You can see that the orange shirt has good strokes. And at times shows he can hit with more pace/aggression. So many in this thread are asking WHY NOT DO THAT ON MOST STROKES?!? My current coach would tell you that the best tennis is played when you just...

How do you recover after a match?

Considering most people dont & dont know how to get 100% nutrition thru food, you cant accurately make your assertion that stretching is beneficial. Stretching gives people a false sense of security imo. The inflammation starts in the kitchen. The sports just amplify the abuse / increase...

    The Match Tiebreaker

I disagree OP. 2 sets plus a tiebreaker is a SPRINT by good athletics standards. And the 5 set should stay as is imo. We’re now talking about changing the game of tennis to something it isnt. Tennis viewership isnt a duration problem. It’s a marketing & personality problem. The “big 3” all...

The Most Exhausting Opponent to Play Against

At 4:20 it’s a higher ball. Easier to get on top of it. I’ll rewatch again but I thought most of his approach shots were off of low balls. And again, we dont get the luxury of seeing the UEs in this match. Im still under the (limited) impression that Orange shirt is a pretty smart player...

Who is the rudest opponent you faced ?

I asked the same question. I forget the specific reason. Something along the lines of the courts were being used at the club. Happens about once a quarter. They show up in mass.

The Most Exhausting Opponent to Play Against

Even when they’re that low? On approach, a low ball, trying to rip a heavy ts backhand is pretty low % and I have a decent backhand (and light racquet). I’ve been trained to automatically go for the chip/slice and live to fight another stroke.

The Most Exhausting Opponent to Play Against

But he was hitting winners from the start. Watch the first 3 points. He’s doing everything that many are critical of him in this thread for not doing. He comes to net & punishes the short balls. I have to assume that he was giving up games by getting overzealous in his attempted winners. Yes...

How do you recover after a match?

None. I dont stretch pre sports either. The need for either is actually nutrition related.
