Federer may never win another slam

I think that is why Wawrinka is my favorite. It keeps me out of the inevitable cycle of insanity if I stan too hard for a Big 3 member. And I can appreciate all 3 as the incredible GOAT players they are easily when I dont really care who holds the record and who is considered GOAT, or who wins...

    Novotna vs Martinez vs Sabatini

I remember watching the Canadian Open semis in 97 when Conchita was down 6-2, 4-1 (double break) to Seles and all of the suddent started hitting her forehand the way she can but is reluctant to, especialy early in points. Still constructing points and opening up the court, but finishing them...

How many slams will Djokovic win?

Even though I am a Djokovic fan that would be great in that it must mean the up and comers finally came to the fore and super strong. Way stronger than most people expect.

Top 5 Americans in open era ???

Courier of course. Although if Roddick had been born into an era without Federer it might have been him.

2019 Tennis Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony

It is a disgrace Pierce and Kafelnikov were not in sooner, but glad they are in now!

Why does someone like Roddick fade and retire, the Big 3 not?

Lots of contributing factors. One thing is around that point the mens game was not weak like it is today, so if you had the natural decline with age and injury you were in big trouble.

Margaret Court Continues to Stay Ahead of the Pack at 24

I and most others do. Nobody calls Rosewall the GOAT, most have Newcombe lower than Edberg or Becker. Most dont have Laver as the GOAT over Federer today. so already done for most people.

Federer may never win another slam

That is bad news for Federer and Federer fans considering you have pretty much never gotten a prediction right ever Mr. Zverev is the favorite to win RG 2019.

Nick presenting Mary Pierce is almost funny after the potshots he took at her in his book.

Federer may never win another slam

True, but it is freaking TMF, the biggest d0uche tool around, lets not spoil the fun.

It would have been nice if Federer had won

That is why I wont let myself to get that attached to any of the Big 3 and choose favorite players outside of them like Wawrinka where any win over a Big 3 member or slam title is a bonus. I could not deal with the emotional strain at each major event and match up being a Big 3 uber...

Federer may never win another slam

and dont forget the classic TMF thread of Nadal may have won his last slam in late 2009.

Who do you think is the better one between Del Potro and Cilic?

I agree with most of that but just remember Cilic defeated Federer in the semis of that Open too. An older Federer than Del Potro beat, but it was also done impresively in convincing straight sets.

Novak fans, do you think there has been a player you have watched that is superior to him ? If yes why ?

So he was supposably past his prime at only 26. :-D The same guy who was no teen phenom by a long shot, and is still playing top tennis at 38. And when years later Djokovic himself is the dominant player at age 32. Not a very good point. I rate Federer over Djokovic like I said, but it...

Who do you rank higher between Pancho Gonzalez? Ken Rosewall? Novak Djokovic

Fair enough. I still think as great as Rosewall was, he still wasnt dominant the way Gonzales and Djokovic were. And Gonzales is an easy comparision, obviously Djokovic is another era, and Gonzales was #1 a lot longer, had a winning record vs Rosewall until Gonzales was in his mid 30s, and...

Novak fans, do you think there has been a player you have watched that is superior to him ? If yes why ?

That is kind of silly logic when Nadal had already been #1 most of the previous 3 years at that point anyway.

Who do you think is the better one between Del Potro and Cilic?

Their careers is a close call. 2 non gold Olympic medals is basically equal to an extra slam final. Every stat is close or tied. Better player I think is Del Potro though. On the head to head that is telling too. Although I have to say I have seen many of their matches and it is not...

    Del Potro sorely missed

I dont think Murray likely wins either of the last 2 Wimbledons. Not since he cant beat Djokovic but since in 2018 he would have to beat Nadal and Djokovic, and in 2019 both Federer and Djokovic. Depending on the draw possibly all 3 of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic in 2019. And he does not fare...

The strange case of Laver's greatness ranking

I think peak level play on clay and hard court between them is very close. If Nadal is better, it is only marginally so. While on grass or indoor conditions Borg is way better in level of play. Peak Nadal on grass (2007, 2008, 2010) on grass might be fairly close, atleast in the conditions...

Novak fans, do you think there has been a player you have watched that is superior to him ? If yes why ?

I think Sampras might be Djokovic's worst match up at the U.S Open including Federer (and he didnt even beat or meet prime Federer that much there). He rushes you and doesnt give you rythym which are the two things Djokovic hates most. His serve is also great enough to fully negate the...

What are your most and least interesting matchups in tennis ?

Least is easy. Serena vs Sharapova. If I have to pick a mens match up Federer vs Ferrer. Runner up would be Federer vs Wawrinka, Federer vs Dmitrov, or Djokovic vs Cilic. For me any uncompetitive match up between 2 good plalyers becomes boring. Most would be Djokovic vs Wawrinka. After...

Novak fans, do you think there has been a player you have watched that is superior to him ? If yes why ?

and while on fast grass he got drubbed in straight sets by Pat Cash of all people in a Wimbledon final at his absolute peak. I think he could definitely win a Wimbledon title today at some point, but I would not exagerrate how well he could do on modern grass either. He does not return like...

Novak fans, do you think there has been a player you have watched that is superior to him ? If yes why ?

I think he might do as well as Nadal on the new grass, although even that is iffy IMO. No way he does as well as Djokovic, 5 Wimbledon titles and counting IMO. If anything I think Connors is the one who might do as well as Djokovic on the new grass, not Lendl. He returns much better...

Who do you rank higher between Pancho Gonzalez? Ken Rosewall? Novak Djokovic

You cant add pro and amateur majors together. They were split fields, with the amateur majors being against the generally much weaker field.

Novak fans, do you think there has been a player you have watched that is superior to him ? If yes why ?

You put Lendl on par with Nadal, Sampras, and Borg? I would think he is more third tier with Connors, McEnroe, and Agassi. I probably have Connors over him actually (and Mcenroe is certainly more talented).

How many slams will Djokovic win?

In fairness I think few fans could imagine the members of Generation Lost and Generation Suck and Generation Suck 11 could continue being so useless.

The strange case of Laver's greatness ranking

Fair enough. I do think rating players higher on concentrated dominance is valid. I could never rate Borg over Laver though just due to not winning the U.S Open, even with it only clay 3 years. Over Sampras maybe. I wish I could rank him over Nadal, but Nadal has won so many slams, and...

How many slams will Djokovic win?

One thing that is funny is I remember nearly everyone, including Fed fans, saying 17 was unbeatable, and probably forever. At that point even Federer fans didnt believe he would win another slam. Well turns out 17 was very beatable, Nadal has already beat it, Djokvoic probably will, and...

The strange case of Laver's greatness ranking

I hate arguments involving giving players credit for retiring early. I like people giving Borg credit for his unique achievement in tennis history of dominating the polar opposities of clay and grass, which nobody else has done to even close to the same extent. Those who want to give him...
