Should Rafa run around his BH to hit more forehands vs Nole?

It is a good idea but difficult to execute. Djokovic is such a great mover and hits such goo shots on the run that he does seem to be able to hit Nadals BH very consistently. The problem with running round his BH and being out of court is if it is not winner he can end up on the backfoot. He...

Who do you think will win RG 2013?

Djokovic for me. A lot depends on how Nadal plays in Barcelona and the next 2 masters series events. He has time to improve between now and RG. He needs to improve a lot though as Djokovic looked in great form in Monte Carlo and when he starts playing with that mindset he is almost impossible...

Who is more likely to take out Nadal at FO ?

Djokovic has the best chance to beat him. He has done it before on clay although not at RG but will believe he can win. The other top players have a chance but would need Nadal to have an off day and they would have to play top of their game.

Can anybody serve and volley against Nadal?

Nobody serves and volley really. Del Potro tried it a few times but these guys don't do it consistently enough to employ it as a tactic against the top players. They miss too many volleys, if you play 95% of your tennis from the baseline it will be very difficult to suddenly serve and volley...

    WoooooooooooooHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Great win for Rafa and a big boost for tennis to have him back. Del Potro played some great tennis and really stepped up this week. If he keeps playing like this he can really trouble the top 4 as he looks like he really believes he can beat them whereas a lot of the top 10 guys don't.

Isner can beat anyone: Martina Navratilova

He can beat anyone on a given day I agree. Winning 7 best of 5 set matches in a row against the best players I just don't see. His game has too many weaknesses for him to be a real contender for slam titles.

Which do you want more this year, Nadal-Federer at Wimbledon or US Open?

Wimbledon for me. Federer would need to play a lot better for that to happen.

Raonic would've been a much better match against Djokovic

Like the commentators said during the game, Tsonga doesn't have a game plan, standing way back on serve then up on the base line, both for 2nd serves, sometimes running in to the net on pretty hopeful approach shots. Tsongas backhand is not good enough, feel like it is only 50:50 when he hits it...

2013 Indian Wells SF: [1] Novak DJOKOVIC vs. [7] Juan Martin DEL POTRO

I think Djokovic will win in straight sets. Had an easy win against Tsonga and will be fresher. Del Potro hits his forehand so hard and generally has a big game so is always a danger but I think can only win if Djokovic has an off day which I don't see.

Why hasn't Berdych won a slam after all these years?

he doesn't believe he will beat Djokovic or Nadal. The Dubai final was an example where it never looked like he believed he could win. i don't think he will ever win a slam. The other guys play at a different level in the biggest matches.

Indian Wells SF: [6] Tomas Berdych (CZE) vs. [5] Rafael Nadal [ESP]

Berdych has been playing well this week and has the game to beat Nadal. It is all about whether he believes it really, all his previous losses will be in his mind and Nadal is so tough to beat anyway. I think Nadal in 3 but will b interesting to see if Berdych plays like he really believes...

nadal non clay defending record what a shame

I don't think it means much really. It would be nice to defend titles but is not a good indication of success or failure. Nadal has proved himself as one of the greatest players and it makes no difference if he would have been as successful 20 years ago as his job is to make sure his game...

    Arrggh! Dimitrov choking again!

He did choke serving for the set, 4 DF's for a player ranked 31 is not acceptable. It was terrible serving. He is not at the level to beat Djokovic yet regardless of the DF's but still only 21 and for me the most talented young player on tour at the moment. He is working with Magnus Norman...

    Biggest waste of talent ever

I think Safin. He did win 2 Grand Slams so hardly a terrible career but when you watched him win the US Open and the SF in Aus against Federer you feel he could definitely have won more. Monfils also worth a mention, probably the best athlete playing at the moment when fit but hasn't...

Where does Federer rank as a clay courter?

He is a great clay court player. Very difficult to rank him against players in other eras. He is maybe unfortunate to have played same time as Nadal but he has still has a great record at RG.

Murray chooses Olympic Gold as his best moment of 2012

Olympics in London and played at Wimbledon was massive for him to win. I think the US Open was a bigger win for his career and is takes the pressure off a bit. He does need to make sure he doesn't feel as if it is job done though just having 1 slam title. He definitely has the potential to...

    Tomas or Rafa

Rafa surely. The fact is he has a better chance against the top players. HC might not be his best surface but he is a much better competitor than Berdych.
  18. S

What benefit does Rafa get from playing IW/Miami?

If he is feeling okay then he should play. These are big events and he will want to be involved. Plus if he skips Miami he can have a decent rest before Monte Carlo.
  19. S

Will Andy Murray win a Grand Slam this year?

Yes. Has very good chance at Wimbledon. Djokovic is not as strong on grass and can be beaten.
  20. S

does anybody see murray at no .1?

I dont see it this year. If Djokovic stays at the same level then he wont get to number 1. Murray has improved a lot though under Lendl, if he is going to beat Djokovic then his best chance is grass I think.
  21. S

How many slams for Djokovic in 2013?

think he will win US open. RG is Nadals if stays fit but Djokovic definitely close, Wimbledon going for Murray, home support and likes the grass.

i give up. both posts should say Nadal. there got it right. maybe i should go back to work...

    Nadal's Dream Draw at IW

previous post should say Nada not Nadam! sound like a cross between Nadal and Van Damme! that would be a fearsome prospect
  24. S

    Nadal's Dream Draw at IW

I think if Nadam makes QF he wil be happy. Enough matches to get some practice on HC. Althoug he was playing better cant compare clay form to any other surface as so dominant on it. 80% fit Nadal could beat most players on clay whereas on HC a lot more players that could take him out.

Roland Garros 2013 is beyond reach for Djokovic and company

Really depends where Nadal is. If Nadal is at his best he will win. Dont think Djokovic has hit the heights of 2011.
  26. S

Do you think Ferrer deserves to be in the top 10?

Definitely he does. His results against the top 4 have been poor but he has been great against other top 10 players. He is very consistent and regularly reaches latter stages and wins a lot of tournaments. A popular player and a good example of how to get the most from your game.
  27. S

If Nadal and Murray meet at Indian Wells...who are you taking?

Murray you would think. He has many more HC matches under his belt this year and is playing well. Nadal always has a chance but would be big surprise to see him beat one of the top 3 in his first HC tournament back.
  28. S

Nadal is back = worst possible news for Murray fans?

I think it will be harder for Nadal to beat Murray on HC as he has definitely improved. FO will be Nadal and on the grass it is very close, Nadal has beaten him at Wimbledon in the past and will see it as his best opportunity to win a slam outside of RG. I would give it to Murray on HC...

2013 Delray Beach ATP - General discussions

Good win for Gulbis. Might be nice to see him fulfilling some of the potential people spoke about for years. The test will be if he can produce this type of form consistently but he seems to be going in the right direction.

17 year old Nick Krygios wins Sydney Challenger

I haven't seen him play, will need to watch. Always good to see new guys coming through, especially if they look like they might be able to compete right at the top. Challenger events are tough for the young players as playing against some experienced pros who have played on it for years and...
