Roger Federer admits he cried after losing to Novak Djokovic in the 2019 Wimbledon final

I still just can't believe it got away from him. Damn it damn it damn it.

    Self rate explanation

I don't need it......I completed the self-rating upon joining the USTA because it was required, as I understood it initially, in order to play in certain leagues or tournaments etc. As I said, I don't care what level it put me at, I was only looking for other experiences because I'd always...

    Self rate explanation

Makes perfect sense, thank you. It's just all new to me, I don't care in the least what my level is classified as etc. I'm just trying to take the mystery out of it for myself a newbie and hopefully fit in well. I'm going to play in a tournament in December and so I guess I'll see how I fit...

    Self rate explanation

I just did the self-rate yesterday after joining USTA for the first time and was sort of surprised. It asks a bunch of questions about what level I'd played at....JC, college, if I was a world class player now or in the past. Then it gave me 3.0 (I'm 53 years old btw) although I've always...

Can I play 3.5 League if I self rate 3.0?

I just joined USTA yesterday and self-rated today....I got 3.0. Now I don't really know what that means exactly as I have always considered myself a 3.5 player since the non-USTA local leagues and club sessions I've ever played in have been called 3.5 leagues. The leagues I've done fair in and...

    Dunlop 300 Lineage?

Agree. I had my two stolen, went and bought a new Dunlop Precision 100 and didn't like it. So I went to the second hand store that the dirt bag thief sold my HM's to and bought one of them back (as detailed in a previous thread). The newer Precision 100, I just didn't like it....it felt "not...

The many habits and traits of 2.5 and 3.0 players

As a solid 3.5er in his early fifties, there are two things I always make sure I'm diligent about......I act like I'm playing a competitive endeavor when I am playing a match, and I for godsakes know the score. I may not ever be able to develop a world class forehand, but I can remember the...

Second serve, not as good movement, and mentally fragile. Most any other era though and he'd have won 8-10 slams.

    Nick Kyrgios Fan Club

I want to like him but I just shake my head when I see him loaf on key points like a petulant child. I could care less about all the aiming for Rafa, not apologizing stuff...don't care. But when I see the lackadaisical attitude during the course of play it the prevents me from being a fan on...

For Nadal's fans: Most devastating loss in his career?

The 17' AO final had to sting.....he had the fifth set wrapped up and Roger dead in the water before Fed's monumental nut check won him the title.

Some thief ganked my tennis bag out of my back seat.

Ahhh, played with it.... I like the Precision 100 but the MW 300G is so much better in my own estimation. I think it might be my favorite frame ever. The guy that runs my drills class said to me today that I was the only person he knew who was brand loyal to Dunlop. :)

Whatever, just don't take things that aren't yours. It's that simple. It's my responsibility to lock my doors...I get that...but it's not my responsibility to rationalize how it's ever in any way justified to take things that don't belong to you. Sorry.

Can it ever really be gravy?

I have said the gravy thing before, but yeah...it's a lie. The only truth is that the heart of a champion always wants more. If he didn't, he'd have never become a champion.

Some thief ganked my tennis bag out of my back seat.

I do. I had other more valuable stuff in there as well that wasn't touched...someone just grabbed the bag. I realized long after I made this original post that I also had binoculars and a really good Sub Zero thermos in the tennis bag as well. But I do consider myself fortunate and know it...

Some thief ganked my tennis bag out of my back seat.

A salesperson approached me when I was looking and I told him the story in a completely non-angry fashion, (I've long since "gotten over it" and moved on), and he said it "touched his heart," because he had a whole garage of equipment robbed. So he gave me the best possible deal on the already...

Update: A few months after this, I discovered one of my MW's (the brand new unplayed one) and one of the M-Fils at a local second hand shop. I happened to be there looking for stereo speakers and as always, I peruse the tennis racquets just in case there is a gem amongst the junk. Incensed...

Thiem: Federer would have won 7 French Open if it wasn't for Nadal

I actually subscribe to the idea that if Federer had won like 30-35 slams (the "if Rafa/Novak never existed" theory) then he would not be nearly as beloved. No one likes an inhuman robot who obliterates everything in sight for years. I'm just happy for the great era of the last 16-17 years or...

But didn't he get injured playing tennis? How can you not be something (a tennis player) that you must have been in order to have become the other thing (injured person)? Math doesn't check out. Verdict: Tennis player. And also injured person.
