    Starting clamps

As a complete n00b I will offer my admittedly unqualified opinion based on the many, many YouTube videos I have watched on knots. (Forever in debt to Irvin and others!!!) Using the pull of the machine to tension the knot will only allow you to pull tension in one direction. From what I have...

    question on split step technique

As a 3.0 player I barely know what a split step is, much less being in a position to instruct anyone in it's art. My way of thinking--coming at this from other sports--is you would rather be on the late side than early. Most of the instruction I have seen says to time your split step AS they...

what's your favorite and least favorite racket to string?

If I make a mistake and nobody notices it, did it really happen?

    What makes a good stringer?

This is what I am trying to find out--what did you see that lead you to say "it was not very good?" From what has been said so far it seems that after 2 rackets I'm doing okay--no double pulls (except the first cross--using a Klippermate), I'm alternating and stringing both halves at the same...

    What makes a good stringer?

I have read a couple of recent posts in various threads that spoke of good versus poor technique. So what are things that a beginning stringer should know that will be the mark of a good stringer/good technique? What makes the kid from the big-box sporting goods store a "lousy stringer?" As I...

what's your favorite and least favorite racket to string?

I just strung my second racket ever last night. It was a Wilson Hyper Hammer 4.0 Mistake number one was starting on the wrong end. When I got to main #6 I realized my mistake as I started pulling the string through the grommet and it was going around part of the frame. I spent 3-4 minutes...

Best Stringing Machine For Under $150?

No, the actual problem with this kind of question is that the fine folks on this board try to be quite kind/diplomatic--maybe to a fault. This question comes up ALL THE TIME and the folks here give the same answer ALL THE TIME. This question has be beaten to death! The ultimate outcome--IT...

Best Stringing Machine For Under $150?

I bought a Klippermate so I guess I'm firmly in the "clamp" camp. The way I see it here is the trade-off. The Klippermate does not have the ratcheting clutch mechanism. So, you don't put the exact right amount of string into the jaws and lower the arm--too much slack so you need to pull some...

Best Stringing Machine For Under $150?

Which would be more effective, a sticky or the search function? The world my never know. . . To the OP, in case you haven't figured it out from the previous sarcasm, this question has been asked MANY, MANY times on here and dealt with EXTENSIVELY. Just to save you the time of using the search...

    Klippermate clamp tightness questions

Just from using vice grip type pliers in general, if you have them set too tight it is hard to get them to release. When I store my vice grips I always set them to "lock" into place when I put them away. If I have to use a lot of force to get them locked I know it will also take a lot of force...

    Ektelon model H...what's it worth?

DEFINITELY look at a manual before you go pick this thing up. I made the mistake of getting all excited about finding one of these on The List for what I thought was a great price: $100. The picture was very small and I could not tell its condition. I was told by the fine folks on this board...

    Klippermate Warranty?

To answer the original question, the last page of the manual has the warranty. The last sentence of the first paragraph: "This guarantee is not transferable from the original purchaser." I see no reason not to get one if you have the chance and can get a decent price.

Don't really understand where your problem is. Watch this YouTube video and maybe it will help. He talks alot about the "firm wrist."

How to finish last cross with Gamma x-2 stringer?

Note to self: Copy this thread to be used anytime the question is asked in the Gamma/Klippermate debate. File it under advantage: clutch or clamps

Any experienced stringers willing to help?

I'm kinda shocked that no one has brought out the "use the search feature" yet. You can search through this forum and find many, many, many, many threads about which machine to buy as a beginner. As someone who is about to buy my first machine here is what I have found. . . There are essentially...

What to do with the balls on changeover?

I am glad that such trivial, but potentially frustrating, matters are discussed here. (No sarcasm intended--I really do wonder about such things on occasion.) Since I am new to tennis, and deathly afraid of making the embarrassing public faux pas, I use this forum as my source for preventative...

    False Advertising....

I have read some stuff on the Eagnas site about how they violently do not service non Eagnas machines--don't ever ask! I just don't get the lack of customer service. There is a camera shop here in my area that carries the best selection but they are miserable people to deal with. Lots of folks...

Tips on hitting with more topspin?

I have been trying to come up with way to get my wife to learn to hit with topspin. I think I read somewhere that if you go to a SW or full western grip it is darn near impossible to hit it flat and get it over the net. True? If it is, I could just try to get her to change grips and fight...

    First Mens Match

What a coincidence! When I was your age I was 14 too! (That joke kills with 7 year olds! 14? I suspect not so much!) I just started playing tennis last fall/winter and joined a local league this spring in hopes of getting some good competition. Here is what I learned: I was nervous my...

    False Advertising....

The machine was probably shipped using UPS, FedEx or the like. Postal inspector only works if it went via USPS. All in all, putting it behind you and moving on with your life is probably the best plan. Life's too short to get hung up on missing clamps. But, I still hope you get some...

    False Advertising....

But since you are in the middle of "CIF" (I assume that is some type of end of the year tournament for your kids) you could use your Klippermate clamps to get you through then fight for your proper clamps when time is not so pressing.

    False Advertising....

I'm sure they weigh each individual box as it's prepped for shipment! You could try to dispute it with your credit card company but it will be your word against theirs and since they have some 'evidence'--the box weight--it might be hard to win. I suppose you are just going to have...

    New stringer loses all tension.

Here are two videos on using the K'mate. Not the best video quality (does no one who posts YouTube videos own a tripod?) but it does the trick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnqaoOEaq60&feature=relmfu You could just skip to this second one since it involves doing the crosses. A word of...
