Ankle support in shoes is somewhat of a myth. Nike did a study a long time ago with basketball shoes and the first version of low top Jordans. Something about very little difference in injury prevention, but some difference due to preconception.
I've demo'd all 4 of the new prince player racquets. I'll do a quick reply, due to time restrictions:
Rebel Team
My favorite racquet of the four. A light racquet (I play with a 12.8 ounce racquet) with a balance I thought I would hate and I LOVED it. Powerful enough, stable, nice on my...
I will try to answer all questions here:
I don't necessarily know how much skill is too little or enough when it comes to rackets like this. I was a top 100 US ranked Junior for several years, and also played Div. 1 tennis. Obviously that doesn't mean a lot without seeing me play, but really...
I was wondering if anyone had any luck moving from these rackets to something less demanding?
I would need something similarly heavy, but I'm looking for something that may provide a larger sweetspot. Ideally I would prefer it to be 100 sq in. or less.
Right now I play with a nCode Tour 90...
Amherst has one of the best recruiting classes this year, top 10 including Div. 1. So he is definitely good enough.
But, really after 5.0, there are so few players to fill those ratings, that the rating system becomes amazingly inaccurate.
For me, it was the only racquet that my sponsor made, that didn't hurt my elbow. Mids tend to be heavier, more flexible, and standard length, all things that are typically arm friendly.
Traction is marginally different. The material they used is a little harder (used a durometer) and more durable. If that's a make or break factor, I wouldn't really worry about it.
Also, the reason people don't compare them with the BF 3s is because people who tend to like the 2s, tend not to...
Yeah, it's still a uni-tongue. The important thing to look at is the "revised" part. It's definitely different, and I found it harder to get into than the BF IIs. I usually just slipped them on, instead of tying them each time. I can't really do that with the Cage.
All comparisons that I will be making, will be compared to the Breathe Free IIs:
They are more narrow, have a larger 'tongue' (annoying) , have a more stiff cage, stiffer outsole and midsole, less traction, more padded 'tongue' (but it feels more flimsy), they also have a lot less room in the...
I can appreciate what you are saying. I know you have been repeatedly saying that your opinions are more for either beginners and/or lower NTRP rated players and also the rare members of the former group/groups that might play well with this frame (I have yet to meet one).
The funny thing is...
I think it's kind of a bad idea for two different sticks. Maybe different string tensions. But a racquet that is suited for your singles game, should also be suited for your doubles game. If you feel like you need different racquets for each, maybe you just haven't found a racquet that suits...
Anything head or prince is usually low powered. Prince Rebel, POG, Diablo, and the Chang's... Basically the Prince racquets with thin beams. Any Head Prestige, MP or smaller. Don't know about the newer flexpoints, but I imagine they are similar to the Intelligence and LM lines, which are really...
I would get your racquet restrung and regripped, play for a month or two, and then get a better idea of what you need in a new racquet. I would not go directly to a tweener, because if you are advanced as you say, you might not like the power and lesser control of a tweener. After that repost...
I have been playing with the Wilson nCode Tour 90 for about a year, and I love the racquet. I play with Prince Sweet Perfection 17 strung at 58 in the mains and 55 in the crosses. I just found out that they are discontinuing this string, so I need to find a replacement. Anyone have any...
I think this thread is absolutely amazing.
1. How can you honestly compare any of your swings with Roddick's? I am not saying that any of you aren't accomplished tennis players, but he's a top 10 tennis player in the world. Can any of you 4.5 league tennis players even get a game off the guy...
Hmm, well he made it to the finals two years in a row. . . It isn't rocket science.
Wimbledon is known for giving better seedings to those who have done well at recent wimbledons.
The Tour 90 is a racquet where if you find yourself hitting amazing shots every now and then when you first hit with it, it only gets better from there. It honestly took me 4 months to get used to it. Prior to that I played with a rdx 500 mid, LM Prestige MP, and Diablo MP. It's a demanding...
If weight is not an issue, then it's better in every way. More control, more power, more comfortable, easier on strings, more stable. It was a little less responsive than the 100, but it was so little that I could be imagining it.
