What gas is in tennis balls??

I saw on Discovery or Learning channel, I think, that it is CO2 in most balls. The rubber is porous enough for O2 to pass easily. Regular air will pass back and forth as you pressurize it in a tank. Eventually, the harder to pass molecules, N2 and CO2, will not bother to go into the ball. This...

Where do you store your tennis balls?

For match balls, they stay in the garage, in a box. For used balls to practice with and put in the ball machine, I have 2 pressure tanks that keep them at the proper pressure and hardness.

I think the holes stay pretty close to the same size. It takes a while for the CO2 to leave the ball. We have noticed regular air, after some time, escapes faster then the CO2 it origanally had. As you recharge them with air, the CO2 keeps leaving but only air goes in and the concentration of...

what's the white cloth thing they tie under the knees?

Pre Tape We go to a lot of meets and tournaments for my kids. The trainers will put a few turns of foam pre tape on, then roll it up and place it just below the knee cap. It's cheap, everyone should have it in their bag and you can pick colours to match your racquet:shock:

Who believes in the "Right and Privilege" mentality?

Newbie Ok, I am just starting out. I have shoes for just the court. I have a racquet. I am ready to play. My wife was so embarrassed, she gave me a bag to at least go on the court with. I really didn't care. I do not have the skill to know that my hands were slippery or that I can improve a...

Just NIKE it and Do It Paul, You should do it. It can be done. A small one can use a pump and PVC. If you want big, you have to either manufacture it or search for a cheap one on line. See what they have done at the Green Machine. That will give you some ideas. I am making them now. You can do it.

Not so, I DO make them. And I do sell them. The main draw back, is that once you have the 1 or 2 you need, you don't buy anymore. They are stainless steal, they don't break, they don't need much for repairs and you can use it as a jack stand for your car. It's not like the electronics...

Don't say I didn't warn you, but yes. There is a way and it can still go off in your hand. You will loose lots of balls trying to get just the right pressure, too. You will need a tank that will go high enough to charge the balls with enough pressure to explode. Yes the stainless steal tanks...

Cold weather Did have some troubles over the weekend. 2 tanks of balls are about 9 months old. The felt holds up well, as you only hit it a couple times each practice. They are good as new still. Over the last week, the temps dropped. Since they are stored in the garage, they got cold, too...

Ocd You don't have to be a clean freak to have OCD. If you tried to stop him from doing any OCD ritual, his stress level would go way up. It's a way to stay calm. Even baseball players do things like jump over the chalk lines. Besides, if you keep the bottles straight and win, why would you...

recharge tennis balls Yes it can be done. I have done it. My tank holds 60-68 balls. It would take 2 tanks to do some ball machines. If the ball is relatively new, a month or less, you just need to store them on 15 PSI. If you collect them from around the courts and they are unknown, you have...
