    Nadal skips Shanghai

Nadal's about 2000 points up in the race. The most points Novak can win from here is 4000 iinm.. The most points Nadal can win from here is 2500. So Novak pretty much has to go into beast mode to take it. If he does, then he deserves it.

Crazy Stat: Federer won his first 7 Slam finals

Is Wawrinka the only one that Rafa has lost to in a slam final apart from Fed or Djoker?

Which is more mind-boggling? Nole is a 5-time Wimbledon champion or Nadal is a 4-time Us Open champion?

What's the OP got to do with the same spiel we keep getting from the delusional Fed fans?

Federer 'won't be destroyed' if Nadal beats his grand slam record

Federer might not be completely destroyed, but some of his delusional brethren certainly will be :D

Which is more mind-boggling? Nole is a 5-time Wimbledon champion or Nadal is a 4-time Us Open champion?

Exactly. "Waaah waaah grass is green hard court" "Waaah waaah US Open slow as clay" Salty tears keep flowing

    One week on Rafa fans.....

Let's not twist the facts. Before the injury Nadal got Stan to 0-40 to break back in the 1st set. He went on to miss consecutive 2nd serve returns. That had nothing to do with "the version of Stan" and more to do with Nadal wasting his chances, but regardless, that doesn't constitute getting...

    Potential new Nadal record

All big3 can achieve that. Djokovic can't achieve rank #1 across 3 decades. Nadal is the only one who can achieve YE#1 across 3 decades...

What do Berrettini, Gasquet and Youzhny have in common?

What are you smoking? The h2h is totally irrelevant to that match. Injured?:-D:laughing::-D:laughing::-D:-D:laughing::-D:laughing::-D:laughing::-D:laughing::-D:laughing::-D Did you not see Federer fall flat on his arse on match point?

    7-1-5-3-5 vs 1-12-2-4-0

You're reaching now mate. They were in their mid 20's and had already won a major... not early 20's without a major like those I mentioned bar Nadal. Not to mention in the case of Sod, Novak and Murray it was their 1st major final period. LOL only Nadal had multiple major final appearances...

What do Berrettini, Gasquet and Youzhny have in common?

Safin not a big hitter? LOL tennis_clown is more appropriate Prime for prime Nadal > Fed by your own admission...

What do Berrettini, Gasquet and Youzhny have in common?

Not sure what 2007 has to do with anything... LOL all of those tough "slam winners" won their slams before Federer hit his peak with the exception of Safin who belted him at AO05... Nadal beat a slam champion in every single US Open title run and these are guys who beat Federer in majors...

    7-1-5-3-5 vs 1-12-2-4-0

Sods was in his 2nd slam final at RG... I'm talking 1st time finalists at particular majors.

Oh, did you spot that through your crystal ball did you?

    7-1-5-3-5 vs 1-12-2-4-0

Don't forget Soderling, 20 yr old Nadal, 20 yr old Novak and 21 yr old Murray... You can add Ferrer, Thiem and Berdych for Nadal lol.

    2020 Grand Slam winners predictions

So regardless of Federer, Rafa still wins 4 US Opens... Yet, Federer can't win RG with Rafa in his path. BTW Novak would've sent Fed packing in RG08 and Thiem would've beat him this year too, so no, he doesn't get 5 or more.

Remember: 4 sets in 6 tries, +15 years

Not what I said. Just pointing out it was a very important weapon against Fed's game. Sure, going to the bh was a successful tactic, but not the only reason he was a tough match up for Fed. The other reason was he would get to shots that Fed wouldn't expect and return them with interest which...

    7-1-5-3-5 vs 1-12-2-4-0

True that nobody else has done it, but maybe look at how close other players have come (and yes I'm aware there's probably only 2 others) and then realise that no one has even come close to winning 12 of the same major. Maybe that will help gauge which is the more difficult accomplishment.

Remember: 4 sets in 6 tries, +15 years

It depends on which aspects have declined. Nadal's game was built around his speed. He's done well to adapt a more aggressive style in his older years but once that speed declined, that is a killer for his chances against Fed on faster surfaces.

    7-1-5-3-5 vs 1-12-2-4-0

Wouldn't say it's unprecedented... How close are Nadal and Federer to achieving that? BTW - He's missing Olympic Singles Gold...

    How has Nadal passed Sampras?

Pretty sure Nadal had multiple years at #2 with more points than Pete did to take #1 in some years...

    One week on Rafa fans.....

What are your top 3 most heartbreaking losses? Mine are: 1 - Wimbledon 2018 ( Mostly because I really felt like Rafa was the better player ) 2 - AO17 ( Up a break and felt like he was going to take it ) 3 - AO12 ( As above but wasn't as confident knowing it was Novak )

    7-1-5-3-5 vs 1-12-2-4-0

Ahh ok, there is one he has though... he's won all of the Masters 1000 titles but that's not that significant, more of a nice thing to have achieved.

    7-1-5-3-5 vs 1-12-2-4-0

LMFAO at all this "take away clay" Is that still a thing on here. I guess when there's nothing left, you need to clutch onto something right... Only 3 players in the Open Era have more non-clay major titles than Nadal and they are considered by many as tier1 ATGs - Sampras, Djokovic and...

  25. T

    7-1-5-3-5 vs 1-12-2-4-0

Yes he does. Most AO titles in men's. NCYGS is a big deal (for me anyway). But not big enough to cover having 3 majors less than Nadal.

Remember: 4 sets in 6 tries, +15 years

LMAO not even what I said. I said Nadal's speed has declined. Simple as that, he's not the running machine he used to be...
  29. T

At the end of the 4th set......

I don't entirely consider playing poor tennis as choking. To me, it's when a player is playing well enough to put themselves in the winning position, then start to miss routine shots during crucial moments when the time comes to close out the match.
